I have stayed at Lazy Days on a few occasions and I'm always very happy here. It's in a great location, within an easy walk to Holetown and the facilities there, although we always hire a car as we like to travel around the island.
The villa is very adequately fitted out with pretty much everything you might need, although some bits are slightly dated. But the major plus side is a very lovely outdoor area including a good sized pool.
It was clean and well maintained and we had the option of getting the cleaner in during our stay if we had wanted. As we were able to do our own laundry and ate out a lot, we didn't find this necessary. The bedrooms are a good size with plenty of space for my mountain of clothes etc! Lots of hangers and large amounts of drawer space.
Both the owner and the house manager, Norma, were extremely helpful and efficient and as soon as we encountered a small problem with a lock, someone was there to sort it out within half an hour! You can't get this sort of service in London!
There are lots of lovely bars (Zaccios is lovely for sundowners), restaurants (my favourite is Tides), cafes (Cafe Carizma at the Chattel House shops is great for breakfast and coffee and they also have live music some nights) and shops, along with the lively Holetown beach, all within a 10 minute walk.
The villa is excellent value for money and I would have no hesitation in either returning, or recommending it to friends (in fact I already have!). I have only deducted one star simply due to the slightly dated aspect of some of the kitchen appliances etc but this in no way spoiled our holiday. I love staying here! It's quiet and we felt very secure - I've never had any issues on that front when I've stayed here.
A big thank you to both Julie and Norma for making our stay so easy and enjoyable and for allowing us to use the facilities until we had to leave for the airport. I hope to return as soon as possible!
Recently returned from our stay at Lazy Days and now wanting to share our experience of villa living in Barbados. Having spent 8 hours on a flight from the UK we were pleased to learn we were only a short taxi ride to the villa, Lazy Days. On arrival we were met and shown around the villa by Norma, the house manager whilst the owner was away. It was noticed that the villa was probably cleaned some days before our stay had commenced, as we noticed deceased insects around the floors and sand in most of the bedroom cabinet units drawers.
The villa was as described on the website; well equipped for all occasions whether you were using it as a live in holiday home or as a base for venturing out. However some of the kitchen appliances required a much needed clean before use. We couldn’t use the toasted sandwich maker as it was covered in hardened cheeses or the like!
The outside areas were spacious with plenty of seating areas to relax in and plenty of room to shelter from the sun or dodge the rain – first time we have swam in a pool whilst raining at 30deg C – lovely. The pool was first class. Hope they managed to get the outside electrics sorted as we had the experience of an electrical fault causing an unpleasant loud bang and sparks from the external lighting power cables.
With a little over a 10 minute walk we decided to eat out most nights. In Holetown we found an array of restaurants and beach bars, but be prepared for a pricey outlay. We also found it beneficial to hire a car so we could go further a field and enjoy some of the many towns, villages, beaches and attractions - the Friday Fish Fry is not to be missed and was good value.
The only disappointing moment for us during our stay was the break-in's, both during the dead of night and having locked all doors. But this highlighted a number of issues such as spare keys to all doors and even the override key to the combination safe being easily available within the villa – hope this one has been sorted by the owner so not to spoil anyone else’s stay.
Will we return, probably not as there many other exciting places for us still to visit.
We have just returned from what can only be desribed as "heaven on earth". Not only did we have the chance to re-visit the beautiful island of Barbados again which may I say is a luxury in itself, but we were all lucky and priviledged to stay in a privately owned villa called Lazy-Days which is set at the end of a beautiful cul-de-sac avenue in the grounds of Sunset Crest, in the heart of Holetown. The villa is without doubt the best home from home vacation we've ever had. It had absolutely everything you needed it even had "Norma" who was there to greet us on arrival, the most helpful person ever she was our girl friday. This luxury villa had it all, two lovely spacious bedrooms (whith beds so comfy you didnt want to get up in the morning) two bathrooms(towels as well) a kitchen probably more equiped than any other I have stayed in. The lounge was massive - huge telly comfortable sofas (loads of DVDs) english plug points to charge essentials, 2 spacious bathrooms and its crowning glory a large L shaped swimming pool set in a beautiful garden laden with coconut trees, tropical palms brightly coloured exotic plants with the flutter of humming birds flying from flower to flower and the glorious sound of "bird songs" filling the warm air, all of which becomes a place of enchantment once the sun goes down with the outside dining area glowing with twinkling lights and magical candles. It is indeed a splendid sight. The villa is perfectly situated in Holetown with lots of restaurants, beach houses, shops, all within walking distance and for those who wish to venture a little further the local buses will take you all over the island, or you can rent a car.All in All "WE LIVED THE DREAM". Thank you Julie.
From the moment we stepped onto this Eden like property hathe feeling washed over us that this was home. Truly. I can't guarantee that you will feel like that, but we did. The other reviewers have stated all the items that are true - how well equipped the home is in every way - so I won't repeat. It was early afternoon when we arrived and Norma was there to greet us, and she gave us thorough instructions on everything pertaining to the villa and the property, and left her contact numbers.
Once I saw the bedroom I just couldn't wait for night to come. Even though the pool, the outdoors and the beach was beckoning, the room just looked so inviting. And the bed so comfortable. We are in our 60's, so that is paramount.(We slept like babies!) The living room was welcoming and I have the impression that this entire home is well loved by its owner and decorated to exude comfort and hospitality.
The second bedroom was just as lovely. The dear friends we travelled with stayed there.
The pool is sparkling and we spent hours in it. Everything that needed to be done on a daily basis was easy because the owner, Julie, has thought of everything. For all meals (when we weren't eating at any one of the excellent restaurants within walking distance) we ate outside in the positively lovely area just outside the living room. The songs of the many resident birds added to the lovely ambience.
We are not wealthy people, but we are blessed to be able to return to Barbados time after time - and from now on our Barbados home will be Lazy Days!
Thank you Julie - the word seems inadequate.
Lazy Days is situated in a quiet, residential area and is a truly peaceful retreat. The house is very, very well equipped with lots of extras that you don't normally get, making your stay very easy indeed. The property is clean and spacious and the description is very accurate. The pool is lovely and the kitchen has more than enough to keep the most enthusiastic cook entertained. But Holetown is just down the road and has plenty of bars and restaurants if you don't want to bother! Norma was on hand throughout our stay and could not have been more helpful. You won't be disappointed if you stay here, it really is a great place which is fantastic value for money.
We stayed at Lazy Days last year for 7 weeks and have returned in 2014 for 9 weeks. I think that tells you more than anything else that I might mention!!
The villa is located at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac, with a huge garden and lovely big swimming pool. A five minute walk to the beach and shops, and all the better for being a short walk from the bustle of Holetown centre.
Two bedrooms and two bathrooms, so ideal for families. All mod cons - aircon, wifi, large TV, fully equipped kitchen etc.
The lounge is huge, and the outdoor facilities are terrific. The bathrooms and kitchen are a little bit 'dated', but this is Barbados, not Chelsea!!
We've stayed in Barbados for the last six years and Lazy Days is the best combination of facilities, location and value for money. Julie the owner visits 2 or 3 times a year, and her friend Norma who lives in Barbados manages the villa at other times. Both ladies are terrific, and any minor problems are sorted out straight away. The villa is safe and secure, and well serviced with maid (if required), gardener, pool man etc. We're well travelled, but I can't think of a better place to stay.
Well I have another 7 weeks ahead of me, so I'm going to have another beer and sit by the pool!! I hope you found this review helpful - Pete.
