A simply gorgeous property in a wonderful location

A family of 4 (with 11yr old twins) we stayed here in August 17, and had a wonderful week. The property is one of best we have ever stayed in - and we have been to France multiple times. It was extremely well equipped, comfortable and clean. The building it is attached to is just an old barn, so you have the place to yourself with very (almost no) passing traffic on the lane. It is incredibly peaceful - one of our requirements for a break - and for vast majority of the time all we could hear was the mountain stream. This was one our favourite things about the property. You could throw open the main bedroom windows at night and go to sleep listening to the rushing of the river, which was deeply relaxing and therapeutic. Like all new areas, you need to spend some time finding out the fun things to do, but by the end of the week we had explored and found lots to do (climbing zip wire places, lakes, caves, walks, spa etc). One of the most amazing features of the house, is the most comprehensive and detailed file of local/regional walks - which was so helpful and inspiring. If you are coming here for a walking holiday, this has to be the best house you could think of! And one of the wonderful things we recommend is tackling a big walk (e.g. Lac Bleu - just stunning and knackering) and then going to the nearby Spa - Aquensis, to sweat away the aches and pains). We will be back!

STUNNING VIEWS with peace and tranquillity for all. We stayed there because it is nice to have the comforts of this lovely house that has all the facilities we need, including a log burner, which is perfect for those chilly evenings. A few logs are given free but if it is particularly cold, more are available at a very reasonable charge. No light pollution so we found it easy to sleep and clear nights give lovely stargazing opportunities. We have stayed there twice and go, particularly, for the great skiing at nearby La Mongie/Bareges/Pic du Midi etc. with other ski resorts also in close proximity. This area is great for scenic walks (see the helpful book at the house) and we enjoyed them so much on days we where not on the piste. ( we are not normally Walkers/Hikers) Walking from the property directly, the trails are abundant with stunning surroundings. Do NOT miss this opportunity! Mac & Christine, Potters Bar, England.

Beautiful house, beautiful valley and beautiful weather. No 34 was a restful and restorative place in which to stay quite apart from the abundance of walks on the doorstep and the interesting places to visit further afield. Possibly the best holiday home we have stayed in.

Well appointed property

A very comfortable bed and the whole property was comfortable. There are some nice touches and some slightly less than generous touches. We were unfortunate enough to coincide with an unusually cold and wet period so had to have the heating on frequently, this is a restored barn and so fairly damp when it rains. We were charged a small extra amount for the electricity and logs not enough to make a fuss about and to be fair the details do say that other than high season this might happen, but enough to feel a lack of generosity. In addition the owners have put in satellite internet. There is a sheet in the property that explains this and says to use it sparingly, surfing the internet and checking emails are, it says, okay but downloading and streaming games are not. Since we never do the latter and only the former we were happy with this arrangement until we were charged 15.00 for a nine night stay. I would advise future users to be aware that daily internet use is likely to incur charges. The local restaurants were mostly closed and the owners favourite has closed down so the local choice was not great.The book of walks is thoughtfully composed but we found them to be fairly challenging so would also recommend the paths from the Col d'Aspin. If you are a walker, or cyclist this property should suit you very well.

Resposta do proprietário: Hi Valerie, We are sorry that you did not have the best of weather during your stay in the Vallee de Lesponne- of course, this can happen and, for you, it seems to have put a serious dampener on your enjoyment. Normally September weather is lovely but, unfortunately, we can't guarantee it! However, your charge of a lack of generousity seems unfair...for electricity, extra logs & extra internet use you were charged only £21.09- which isn't really a lot. Also, we do not accept that because it's a converted barn, the house is damp- its construction & conversion was completed with top-quality materials & it is fitted with an air-circulation system which is always on- so as to avoid any condensation problems in a house that has excellent double-glazed doors & windows. We thank you for your 4* review & we are sorry that the weather & restaurants disappointed you. Regards Martin

Fabulous tranquill place to stay.

We stayed for 1 week at the beginning of September. Emma met us and directed us to the Gite. The Gite was beautiful, very clean and comfortable. The valley is unspoilt.

Whether sat out side or with the windows open you have the sounds of the river in the valley below.

The Gite is fully equipped with everything you could possibly need. We used the fire a few nights that we stayed in which was lovely.

The area is great for all sorts of activities we predominantly went to cycle and walk. For cycling we had great access to iconic cols and the walks from the door and a short drive away are unforgettable. Martin and Lorraine have left a load of information including walks and maps that we thought was a great touch and gave us inspiration.

Not far from the Gite is Chez Gabrielle we were looked after very well. Home cooked food and locally brewed beer worth a visit.

We were surprised by Chez Brenda in Campan. Another great restaurant with fabulous pizza.

Whether your going away for a week away to relax and put your feet up or an adventure packed week the Gite is a great base. We would love to go back soon.

Ein Haus zum Wohlfühlen

Ein Haus in einem Tal, das unsere Wünsche nach Ruhe und Erholung erfüllt hat. Wir hatten eine tolle Zeit und haben uns von der ersten Minute an wohlgefühlt. Wir haben viel in der super eingerichteten Küche gekocht, im Garten gefaulenzt und sind vor allem mit dem tollen Kartenmaterial und den Tourenvorschlägen von Martin gewandert. Familie mit zwei Töchtern 16 und 20, die sich ein wenig mehr WLAN Bandbreite gewünscht hätten...
