Fantastic stay - the advert doesn't do the house justice!

We stayed in May 2016. A group of 7 adults and 3 young children and had the most delightful stay.

We couldn't believe how well equipped the house was and prepared to a standard that makes you feel at home. Fantastic views in all the beautifully decorated bedrooms. And three very good and highly finished bathrooms.

I really liked the small touches. The old games in the cupboard (id add a few new in though :)). And maps/leaflets of things to do in the area. And the wellies to let us step into the stream.

Location-wise we were able to get around quite easily being along the A40. We visited the nearby Dolacothi gold mines, the national showcase of caves, a railway trip to Torpantau and my favourite was the walk to Dinefwr Castle!

With forests trails right behind too, activities are endleas!

We couldnt have had a nicer stay in the house and loved spending the evening around the log fire :)

Only point to note is if you have kids, put them to sleep in rooms furthest from the lounge as noise travels up to the first two rooms easily :)

Recommend to anyone !

Lovely comfortable cottage

Our group of 10 (5 adults, 4 teenage children and 1 dog) found this cottage to be large, comfortable and well presented. The kitchen is beautiful with lots of equipment - so much so we needn't have bought some of our own items from home. A full list of what was provided may have been helpful in retrospect.

The BBQ provision was a disappointment - none of us felt them useable (there were two small ones) as they were grubby and tiny. Such a shame as we would have loved to sit in the garden by the stream with a BBQ on the go.

Another slight gripe was the lack of TV which we felt a little misled about. A TV was there but once we arrived we were told this was only for the purpose of playing DVD's. Digital TV cables were present though, which was a little odd. Having said that, no TV meant we played board games and card games as a family which was actually great fun.

The bedrooms are beautiful and the bathrooms were spotless. The beds were the comfiest I have ever encountered in a holiday let.

The stream which runs past the front of the house is a lovely detail. Pretty shallow (but very slippery - beware) it gave our children and our dog a lot of entertainment over the two weeks we stayed here. Steep steps lead down to it though so those with small children need to be very aware.

Location wise we couldn't have picked better. Just off of the A40 it is easy to get around. We would recommend a walk up Pen-y-fan - beautiful views. The Halfway forest trails were also good and start only a few minutes from the cottage.

We ate at the Kings Head in Llandovery twice during our stay - both times we had a great meal. Our dog was able to sit in the restaurant with us which was so nice.

All in all this was a good place to stay and we would recommend it.

Resposta do proprietário: We always appreciate having real positive criticism as then we can try and keep the cottage to the standard that we would all like. Therefore we are very grateful to hear the news that our BBQ 's are in need of attention ! Indeed there is nothing better than a BBQ by the stream so we will try to get this rectified as soon as possible. Apologies these should have been checked and cleaned or indeed replaced if they are not up to a good standard. As regards the TV situation, for years we never had a TV at all, as the reception is so hard with the mountains and hills close by so a regular signal is not possible. We have been trying with a rather expensive satellite system and I will now investigate where we are with this ( too technical for me I am afraid ) as I know we did have some success. Apologies if this did not work as our visitors had hoped. I will update this site accordingly when I have confirmed news. I am glad that there have also been so many positive points from all the visitors who have written, as that always makes any failings that have occurred easier to digest. So once again thank you for all the feedback to all those who have spent time and effort to let others know how they found our cottage, we know ourselves that people find it interesting to read.

Fantastic Luxury Property with delightful owners

We had this property on a long lease over the quiet months and found the place to be superb! Tan Y Cestyll is beautifully furnished with everything you would require - it really is a home from home. The owners Jason & Jayne are great people who are on hand at the end of a phone if you require them. We will definitely stay at Tan Y Cestyll again and look forward to the return journey. If you are looking for 5 star accommodation then look no further than this property.

Cottage at Halfway

Our stay at the cottage was faultless. We were a party of 9 that stayed in April 2014. After a long trip, we were greeted by the friendly housekeeper who showed us around. The cottage is even better than it looks in the photos. The kitchen and dining area is spacious and modern. The cottage was spotless and had all the amenities you could need, dishwasher, washing machine, utensils/crockery and a large table that seated 9 comfortably. The living room was clean and comfortable. The wifi connection was easy to set up and not too slow. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms were clean. The grounds are brilliant, there is space to have a fire and the stream is beautiful. It is a 12 minute drive from Llandovery town centre, where there is a train station and pubs that have good food (we ate at The Castle, which had a friendly atmosphere with delicious food.) It was a 20 minute drive to Pen-y-Fan, an excellent mountain walk. It is a luxurious cottage, was easy to organise and I would definitely return.

Breeze to organise, absolute pleasure to stay

Our group of 10 friends in our 20s and 30s and 2 dogs met for a reunion at Halfway and from start to finish the whole experience was a treat. Jason, Jayne and the whole family were a pleasure to deal with; really helpful and responsive and when we got there we were delighted to discover that the photos, while lovely, really don't do the place justice. The surrounding area was amazing for walking and exploring right from the house and the cottage itself is really well furnished and stocked with supplies to make for a very cosy stay; the kitchen especially impressive managing to very comfortably host and facilitate catering for our large group and plenty of bathrooms too! I would absolutely recommend Halfway to others, and indeed have; we'll certainly be back if they'll have us!

A truly excellent holiday experience. The owners are a lovely family and it feels like you are their guest at the cottage. The cottage is finished to a very high standard which is uncommon to find in a holiday let. The property was well prepared and it is easy to get to and a forest trail runs just outside the gate. The caves / dinosaur park, steam railway, and coalmine are all good outings for the kids. A supermarket is 10mins drive away and the nearest town has a good tea house. I would thoroughly recommend this property for a top class experience which is very good value.
