We stayed at Chalet L'Optraken for a week. It is a spacious chalet with a well equipped kitchen. However it is extremely basic with uncomfortable beds, a total lack of hot water and in desperate need of a refurbishment. It is an expensive chalet and we had expected a higher standard. The owners did try to fix the hot water problem but unsuccessfully. It is located near a free bus service up to the main ski area but it is quite a trek to the bus stop which seems to rarely arrive. However it is near the ski school area so may suit a family with small children. It is essential to have a car as the chalet is no where near any shops or restaurants apart from one patisserie and one restaurant. Overall a very disappointing experience.
Chalet L'optraken has everything. Great location for skiing, accomodation very comfortable with brand new kitchen with all modern appliances, lovely lounge with open fire and Bathrooms and shower rooms of top quality. With lifts within walking distance, the Portes de Soleil region is really close by. Have skied as a family for 30 years now and this resort and accomodation are right up there in our top 5. Highly recommended for couples, lads/lassies trips and the family. Hosts are very friendly and helpful, not bad skiers either!

The skiing in Chatel & Portes du Soleil is always rewarding; many miles of piste easily accessible and very picturesque, and year after year there is always something new to explore. We have very much enjoyed staying there for many years and always have it at the top of our list to return to. ”
