Well functioning

We had a lovely stay at Antonios house. Its close to Playa del Meloneras, which is small and friendly. The house, has lots of space, three floors and the bathrooms are downstairs and upstairs. The pool area is great though the pools are not heated.

The kitchen was functional and you have your own parking space.

I would not recommend this property

My wife stayed with her parents along with our 3 young children in this property for a week. We are a normal considerate and respectful family. Our experience of this property was not a good one for a number of reasons. This apartment is poorly maintained and if you have children this accommodation is completely unsuitable. Above all the landlord is untrustworthy and holds for no concern or responsibility for children's safety. There are no bathing facilities at all for young children. Our 6 month old daughter was bathed in the kitchen sink for the whole week while my 2 year old had to be bathed in the toilet bede after the shower door collapsed on her - for which the landlord has claimed was our own fault and has withheld our full deposit despite his inadequate facilities being responsible for injuring our child with his dilapidated property. A shower is never suitable for a very young infant. He has not acknowledged or accepted any responsibility for the inadequate facilities which this property provides but instead has not returned our deposit despite multiple attempts to contact....The gardens are poorly maintained, even to the point of us considering them a safety hazard for our children, there has been no investment in the property and some of the appliances are not working or not adequate. The landlord never showed his face for the entire week to inquire on our stay. If you want a nice property and comfortable holiday I would absolutely suggest you avoid this property and landlord. It is no surprise there are no recent positive reviews. This complex is lovely, the area is lovely but this apartment is not. We are nice people, this is an honest review and ultimately we were really disappointed with our experience here. Mark & extended Family

too many broken promises, not as advertised

I would have liked to write more but there is only limited space for the review.

There is no direct internet connection on the property. Antonio bought a ticket from the hotel next door which offered a wireless connection for their customers. We only received the ticket on the day after our arrival. Due to the distance to the WLAN the signal is very weak and almost impossible to use on the terrace, only with restrictions in the kitchen. Antonio promised internet for our entire stay however the ticket was only valid for two weeks and for the last three days we had to buy a new ticket at our own cost.

The green garden only exists on the pictures, in reality there is hardly any grass left.. The BBQ is not usable because of weekly cockroaches spraying.

The air con on the ground floor was not useable at all. Within seconds the main fuse reacted and the entire bungalow was dark. A repair was promised several times and we stayed at home at the agreed times but no repair was done. We only received several excuses. At one stage we have received an e-mail from Antonio saying: “I can’t deal with your problems right now, try to enjoy your vacation instead”.

We requested a discount for these defects but this was not negotiable with Antonio.

Unfortunately the worst was yet to come. On the agreed day and time of our departure Antonio did not show up. We have therefore not received our deposit back. Since we could also not give back the keys we took them with us. Once back in Germany Antonio has contacted us. We offered to send back the keys immediately after receiving our money but have not received an answer.

In the meantime Antonio is claiming that we have left Gran Canary earlier than contractually agreed and that we stole the only keys he had for the property. Since he had to buy new looks and keys he is not prepared to pay back our deposit. He also mentioned that he has given our name to other landlords in the area with the advice not to rent to us in the future.

I can proof with e-mail exchange that we did not leave early and that all other statements made above are also correct. Photos taken during also show the real condition of the property and garden.

In summary we have enjoyed our vacation but we cannot recommend this bungalow at all. It clearly does not fulfill the promises mentioned in the advertisement which hopefully is checked by HomwAway from time to time. In addition Antonio does not follow signed contracts.

Bungalow Perfecto Para Las Vacaciones

El bungalow es perfecto para unas vacaciones. El propietairo es muy amable y el bungalow es muy bonito, muy limpio, con todo que necesitamos y aún más, como toallas extras para la playa y WIFI. También es muy grande con mucho espacio, y armarios espaciosos.

La terraza es muy bonita con vistas al mar y no hace falta tener coche para ir a las tiendas, la playa, y todo. Recomiendo este bungalow para ir de vacaciones-un grupo de amigos, una familia, etc. Yo volveré seguro!

Excellent location

We stayed in this bungalow four weeks in January-February 2012. We had four little children and grandparents with us.

Bungalow area Bahia Meloneras clean and peaceful. Bungalow itself is not luxury but it has everything you need for comfort stay. Swimming pools are cold as another rewiev says too. Backyard was very safe and nice for children to play.

Basement floor was good for grandparents to have some privacy when they needed some quiet time from our family. :) There are own tv, sofa and bathroom in basement too.

Best thing is that location of the bungalow is excellent. Sandy beach and shopping center are both within a walking distance.

Antonio is very nice and helpful man. He even bought another cot just for our babies (we have twins). We transferred reservation money in advance and everything was fine. We warmly recommend this place!

Very nice place

My wife and I along with our two kids - aged 4 and 3 - and grandad stayed here Feb 5 to 15. I must say that it met our needs extremely well and we would definitely go back ourselves and recommend it to friends/others. It is all it claims to be - and more. The basement floor, of which there are no photos, has it's own sitting area, ensuite shower/toilet and good sized double bed and was perfect for grandad. The house was clean and all appliances worked - Spanish TV only, but the kids didn't seem to mind. The communal areas of walkways and pools were attentively cleaned and monitored and it is very quiet both day and night. It used to have it's own restaurant etc but all this is now closed as the properties are privately owned. This suited us fine. It's not palatial but spacious and very pleasant.

On leaving the house on foot, you cross the road to a pedestrian walkway/promenade (also with a cycle lane) and can walk West for 10 minutes to Meloneras beach/restaurants/supermarket or alternatively walk East for 15 minutes to Maspalomas for a greater choice of supermarkets and restaurants (which are very smart with nice food). Maspalomas beach is a further 5 minutes. Lots of surfers, walkers, street performers. For kids and adults alike, Maspalomas beach is preferable because there is sand all the way to the water, whereas Meloneras beach is small, probably man made and it is not suitable for splashing about in water because of the rocks.

Note that there is a complex called Cay Beach nearby (2 minutes walk)which has a mini market for the essentials and have nice fresh bread every morning.

We really liked Maspalomas and thought that this accommodation so close to such a nice place was great value for money.

The only down side that I could mention is that the water in the pools was too cold for the kids to spend any more than 20 minutes in - followed by a warm bath! However this is not unique to this place - in fact the water in Aqualand was equally cold.

I have to say that Antonio, the owner, was very good to deal with. No nonsense. I was a bit nervous about transferring money etc but that all worked out without a problem. He's a reliable guy. He also dropped in a gift of a bottle of Cava one day while we were out. Also, at the end of our holiday we were having real difficulty finding a taxi to the airport which would take 5 people. When we just mentioned this to Antonio offered to take one of us, saving us €42 in extra taxi fare. Thanks Antonio.
