Luxurious, rural but within minutes of Lancaster

Beautifully converted stone barn with every facility including kennels! Our stay was centred around working sheepdogs and the opportunity to benefit from Thomas' expertise.

Thomas was the perfect host, generous with his time and expertise.

The barn is superbly equipped, beautifully presented and joyfully rural. You will find everything from astute of the art microwave to a coffee grinder, a welcoming Aga to real flame gas fires and stunning bathrooms to comfortable and beautifully presented bedrooms.

In the boot room/laundry (washer/drier) there is a library of local information with ideas for places to visit, eat and walk.

There is an excellent farm shop minutes away with local produce.

Our requirements are quite specific as we travel with 8 working sheep-dogs and the Barn is perfect. Do explore the coffee table as you will find a fascinating scrapbook of sheep dog trial memorabilia as well as a photographic record of the barn's conversion.

If you wish to learn more, do visit the website but, please be warned, it is somewhat clunky and does not work well with Safari (yet - we're going to lend a hand here) so surf the site using a different browser - it's well worth the trouble.

Fantastic Accommodation

Beautiful modernised Barn in the middle of the hills, very peaceful and interior is very high spec. The owner leaves you to come and go as you please however, he is close by if required. We had a demonstration of the rounding up of the sheep with one of his many sheepdogs, thank you Thomas. Adequate room for 6 people, one twin and two double rooms all en-suite. Sainsbury's/Asda are very close by as our local takeaways. We went on a bowling holiday so was pleasantly surprised to see a local bowling club just up the road, which is in fantastic condition. Would recommend this to a family and will definitely return. Thank you Thomas!

A Hidden Gem

WOW! Situated in open Countryside in working farmland, The Barn is an extremely spacious and luxurious conversion. It is very clean, well maintained, decorated beautifully and tastefully with huge rooms. The listing description does not do the property justice.The modern kitchen has a range of quality equipment including a fabulous Aga; convection / microwave oven; fresh coffee making machine; electric BBQ; hob; fridge / freezer and dish washer. There is a utility room with washing machine, coat stand and laundry facilities. Each bedroom has an en suite and 2 bedrooms have dressing rooms as well. The lounge / dining room has a stunning centre feature living fire with patio doors to a patio area looking out over stunning views of the surrounding country side. Pets are very welcome and outside there are several large kennels, there is even a doggy bath with hot and cold water.

The owner, Thomas, is a very friendly and helpful gentleman and welcomed us cheerfully on our arrival. He is well respected and an accomplished sheepdog handler. trainer and judge. He gave us several sheepdog training lessons and lots of valuable advice .

All together, we had a very relaxing and enjoyable 3 day holiday and we will definitely be returning and recommending The Barn to our friends and family.

We were delighted with this property. Beautiful location, barn was spotless.

Thomas done some sheep training with our two collies, think they are missing him and, his mop already.

3 days was not long enough to enjoy the barn and, all the sights close by, had No idea The Lakes, Blackpool, Cumbria was so close, even Lancaster town centre was only 3 miles away, yet it seemed like you was miles from anywhere as it was so peaceful & beautiful.

We Will be returning for a longer period.

Couldn't have stayed in a better place, it was great. :-)

Spotlessly clean, lovely quiet tranquil location, the decor in every room is perfect, everything you need for a holiday is supplied.

Wouldn't believe Lancaster town centre is 3 miles down the road and, Windermere, Blackpool appx 40 mins drive, so peaceful seems like your miles from anywhere.

Thomas done some sheep training with our two collies although we was only there for 3 days, pampered pooches didn't know what hit them, had a lot of patience with my husband who kept running the wrong way.

Couldn't have stayed in a better place, sent photos over to the rest of the family who want to go up for a longer was just great.... Thankyou so much.

Everything we were hoping for

We had so much fun, and so relaxing a time here. The holiday started as soon as we got off the motorway and started driving through roads where you could pick blackberries from both windows at once. The children raced through the barn finding all the best bedrooms and different ways to get to the same place. My sister's Jack Russell raced manically round the walled garden, and the rest of us had a nice cup of tea by the aga in the kitchen.

We had the most glorious sunshine so never got to put the fires on, but the terrace was well used.

For food there are fresh eggs every morning from the farm at the bottom of the drive. There is a fantastically stocked farm shop about 5 minutes drive with wonderful meat - and then the kitchen has everything you could want to cook it to perfection.

Our best day out was when Thomas invited us to go to a sheep-dog trial he was competing in just up in the Lake District. It was a brilliant day with a few cars parked in a field, loads of dogs, belligerent sheep, venison sausages and Collie Wobbles beer. Best of all, Thomas got a new puppy which our kids fell in love with and didn't let out of their sight for the rest of the holiday. They were allowed to bring it round to get its first glimpse of sheep during a training session Thomas was running. We also had a very good day on the beach at St Annes.

The only thing I was sad about was that there was no pub within walking distance! Otherwise just perfect.
