January to March 2017, a Winter holiday

A nice place to get away from a Canadian Winter! We very much enjoyed Casa Lucia and it was a pleasure to deal with Alec, the owner, and his representative on site. Both were very helpful in accommodating our needs. The compact 2 bedrooms apartment is very well equipped, even for a long stay. While the steps from Burriana beach below can be challenging at times (especially after a nice meal at one of the many restaurants), the lift to/from the street and parking is a welcome feature. Capistrano Playa is at a reasonable walking distance to the supermarkets and center town and the hourly bus service is practical for those who prefer not to walk. Of course, the Winter weather does not permit swimming but temperatures remain pleasant in general, and the view of the sea from the terrace is the icing on the cake! We recommend Alec's apartment without hesitation.

Another great holiday in Nerja

We stayed for the second time in your wonderful apartment and couldn't have been more pleased with our holiday! The apartment has everything you need and the best thing of all is the location: right next to the fabulous Burriana beach and the center of Nerja just 15 minutes walk away.

There are also many interesting places to visit from here. Last time we made a trip to Granada and Alhambra and this year we visited the cities of Malaga and Almería and also some beautiful villages nearby, for example Frigiliana and Cómpeta.

And last but not least: The customer service provided by the owner was excellent, once again :). Thank you Alec, I hope we can return some day.

Great apartment, superb location!!

The location of the apartment was the best thing, just a few minutes away from the wonderful Burriana beach. The property was nice, the bed a bit short for our daddy (height 1,95 cm), but otherwise everything was fine.

Resposta do proprietário: Since this last review was written, the main double bed has been replaced with a 2m long King Size double with storage space inside it, for suitcases,shoes etc.There is also a new matching mattrass.This will hopefully provide guests with that added level of comfort.

Fabulous apartment, stunning sea and beach views

We have stayed in Capistrano Playa before and whilst we loved Capistrano Playa, Burriana and Nerja, the apartment we chose at that time did not meet our expectations which was disappointing. Undeterred we decided to give Capistrano another go and in June this year we stayed at Alec’s apartment for the first time and our expectations were massively exceeded, so much so that we booked to go back in September!

The apartment has an amazing location and stunning sea views from both the balconies (two balconies, a bonus!) In fact you can hear the waves lapping on the shore the beach is so close, very relaxing when you are chilling, reading or sipping a glass of wine and wonderful to wake up to every morning! We felt so relaxed in this place.

The apartment is very light and airy with lots of personal touches. It is a good size and we were surprised at how spacious the two bedrooms and the bathroom are. Having a washing machine was a winner for me, means you can take less clothes so no charges on overweight baggage! The apartment is absolutely spotless and has everything that you could possibly need to make your stay feel like home from home in fact the kitchen seemed better equipped than our own at home. The bedding and towels are very good quality and the bed is very comfy. With regards things to see and do, Alec goes the extra mile to provide loads of great information about the local area, from recommendations on best places to eat to where to get cheapest broadband!

Capistrano Playa is an award winning complex and deservedly so. It is a very pretty (and very safe) complex with a large central ornamental pool and a lovely tropical garden walk down to Burriana beach (5 mins from the apt). Burriana is a lovely beach and probably the best in the area, it has great facilities for young and old alike and has very good restaurants/tapas bars. Nerja is just about the nicest Spanish town we have ever visited, looking out to sea it has retained its old Spanish charm with narrow little streets, no high rise, and fantastic restaurants.

But the jewel in the crown is Alec’s apartment! With stunning sea & beach views it really has been a ‘find’. Alec has gone to great lengths to make sure that you want for nothing and is genuinely keen for feedback on how he can improve things to give you an ever better experience. To be honest after two visits this year there is absolutely nothing we can recommend, it is all there! We plan to be regular visitors!

Fantastic apartment with stunning views

We have just returned from a week long stay at this apartment, and cannot recommend it highly enough. It boasts one of the best locations in the picturesque Capistrano Playa Complex, with fabulous views of the sea and beach and is fantastically clean and well equipped. We have stayed at several apartments in the complex and this is by far the best. Newly renovated it has a lovely modern bathroom, well stocked kitchen, and 2 beautiful bedrooms. The towels were plentiful, soft and fluffy (from John Lewis - not your usual threadbare standard apartment issue!). The sheets were crisp. And there was even a large flat screen television, DVD player and Ipod dock! We have two small children, and found that this apartment was perfect for us. The washing machine and dishwasher were a great help!

If you have never been to Nerja, then Capistrano Playa is by far the nicest self catering option. The architect designed complex is based on a typical mediterranean village, whose white-washed dwellings nestle into the hillside just above Burriana Beach - the nicest stretch of Nerja's coastline. Unlike many Spanish coastal resorts, Nerja has retained its Spanish charm. A firm favourite with Spanish holidaymakers, it has no high rise buildings, and boasts a huge selection of good restaurants. Thanks again Alec for such a lovely holiday. We hope to be back next year.

Lovely Apartment With Stunning View

I’ve recently spent a week in this apartment which my sister and I decided on for a break away. Capistrano Playa itself is even nicer than I was expecting. There are flowers everywhere and beautiful gardens on the walk down to the beach. It’s designed to make the most of the view but also keep a good level of privacy on the terraces.

The apartment itself was fantastic; the kitchen was so well equipped, you’d have no problem finding everything required to eat in for every meal or even to make a very professional looking breakfast to eat while admiring the view. I especially liked the double bedroom with direct access to the terraces; it was lovely and had an amazing view of the sea from the (very comfortable) bed. We had a beautiful week of sunshine but if you found yourself not so lucky with the weather, or wanting a night in, there was a huge wall-mounted TV with many UK channels and plenty of DVDs to choose from.

The view from the two terraces was really stunning. The beach actually looked closer than the photos and although far enough away that you can’t hear any noise from people on the beach, you can still hear the sound of the waves. The terrace got the sun until around four in the afternoon but if that wasn’t enough you could wander up to the pool area or down to the beach. What I was pleasantly surprised by was the view on the walk down to the entrance of the apartment: whitewashed, flower-covered apartments at either side of a wide terracotta tiled path with the sea on the horizon. It really was the kind of view you’d expect to see on a postcard.

In terms of the apartment’s location, we found it no problem at all using the directions provided by the owner. We always got a parking space on the road next to the lift that takes you most of the way down to the entrance. I would say it took less than five minutes to get to the beach via the steps through the gardens and from there you could stroll into town reaching the Balcon in about another fifteen minutes. If you didn’t want to go that far, there were restaurants on the beach or you could pay 7 Euros for a taxi into town. We made use of a place on the beach that can arrange all sorts of activities and had a very enjoyable horse riding experience through them.

I would like to thank Alec for the use of his apartment and also the quick response to my emails and the information provided before we left.

This is ideal for anyone looking for a peaceful break with a busier town centre not far away.

High chair and cot are available at a charge if €20 per item per week and hire can be arranged with the local management company that looks after the apartment.Payment for this can be either direct or can be added to the rental.
