Daughters hen party

We had 20 young women staying at Alexander house for my daughters hen party. The venue was perfect for a girls getaway all bedrooms were beautiful and the pool and jacuzzi was the icing on the cake. A special mention to the house keeper who was welcoming and on hand if we needed anything. Thank you for helping us create special memories.

Shocking value for money

We paid an awful lot of money to stay in what we thought was an isolated high quality mansion with a pool for the weekend. What we received was a shabby house with yurt neighbours who complained of noise, a disgusting unusable pool, broken baths and leaking fridges, and a constant smell of human waste from the septic tank making any outdoor use impossible.

The process of booking was confusing and unnecessarily difficult from the start with incorrect information being emailed and repeated information. There seemed to be no communication between the company we booked through and the house keepers as we were told things in our welcome pack by the company that the poor house keeper knew nothing of. For example, the welcome pack said milk and basics for tea and coffee were to be provided but I had to end up running to buy milk which we would have brought if we weren't told it would be there! We were also told that the company, house parties, would pass on our bedroom requests but luckily I was in contact with the house keeper prior to our stay to inform her we needed all double beds - she didn't know and we would have ended up with mostly singles.

The main disappointment, however, was the pool. We hired the mansion for the pool as it is something none of us have at home. It was beyond disgusting and looked like it had never been cleaned. Thick green slime coated every surface and large chunks of algae floated in the water. There was so many cobwebs and large spiders living in and around the glass roof cover that is must have been neglected for some time.

We paid over £3500 for the weekend... this money clearly doesn't go towards the property maintenance. I had a horrendous time because I felt responsible for taking my friends to celebrate my 30th and paying so much for something so bad. I wish I had never booked it and I advise anyone reading this to steer well clear!

Resposta do proprietário: Dear Leanne, Please see reply directly from the owners:- We had serious complaints about the behaviour of these guests at our property. The lead guest was beyond cross when she arrived at the property, saying that she was pregnant and could not drink, but had paid all this money for a weekend that she couldn't join in with. She arrived saying that she had had a very bad booking experience and was going to leave bad feedback. The house was prepared as usual with our usual care and attention, and the pool is serviced and hoovered out weekly for every new set of guests, the hot tub is totally cleaned out and refilled for every set of guests, and every care and attention is taken to ensure that the property is in top condition, we have spend significant sums on recent upgrades and continue to do so and we are in the process of repainting the entire property as well. Over the course of the weekend we received numerous calls from the guests in our yurts (which are a significant distance away from the main property at Alexander House, and are built for a get away from it all experience) and from our neighbours one full kilometre away down the hill advising that the noise and behaviour at the property were simply intolerable and extremely antisocial. The housekeeper had to ring the guest and very firmly had to remind her about our Terms and Conditions, to which the guest simply responded that she had booked the house over 6 months ago and would do what she wanted as it was 'hers' for the weekend to do with as she pleased. The pertinent part of our terms and conditions are below; 5.4 Alexander House is in a rural area and has a septic tank. If anything other than toilet paper is flushed down any w.c in the house and causes blockage this will result in a deduction taken from the Security Deposit. 5.5 The Client is legally obliged to take all reasonable and proper care of the property and around the property and shall leave Alexander House in the same state at the end of the rental period as found at the beginning. 5.6 The Client is legally obliged to ensure that they do not cause nuisance to neighbours and keep noise to a minimum after 11pm. However the guest refused to acknowledge these and the noise continued unabated, and the antisocial behaviour continued. The smells from the septic tank came where guests had blatantly ignored point 5.4 of our terms and conditions and had thrown foreign objects down the toilet. The guests had also totally ignored point 5.5 of our terms and conditions, leaving rubbish everywhere and the property in a significantly worse state than on the arrival of the guests on the Friday. The hot tub was simply disgusting. House owners beware, these are not guests that you wish to have at your property, and we can only apologise to our neighbours and the delightful guests we had in our yurts for their forbearance.

Well appointed house providing a great venue for our family reunion

This house was well situated and provided a lovely place for a family reunion. We had everything from a well appointed kitchen to the several living spaces, the pool room and spa, all helped make it a relaxing place to gather family. It is an easy drive to many points of interest for day trips. The caretakers were a delight to deal with, with nothing we asked for too much trouble.

Family vacation

We had a group of 17 family and friends go on holiday to Scotland. The Alexander House was the perfect setting. The house was magnificent and the location was spectacular. This was the 1st time to Scotland and we took in a great deal of Scotland's beauty. Going from Edinburgh to Glasgow, St Andrew's to Malliag and many castles and palaces in between.

Luxurious, Beautiful House

We spent a weekend at this amazing house celebrating a Hen Do! From start to Finish this was the ideal location. Sam (host) and Jo (owner) attended to our every query efficiently before arrival and made sure that all our requests were fulfilled. As host for the weekend, Sam arranged the food and housekeeping for the weekend - service cannot be faulted. Food was delicious and her attention to details was impeccable. Hen package was excellent value for £!

A real treat!

I booked this house for my daughters Hen Party weekend and it was even more beautiful when we got there! There were 21 of us staying and we never felt that we were in each others way, it was so spacious. The house was stunning and very clean, Fiona the housekeeper was there to meet us and went over how to work everything, she was very helpful. We all felt like we were abroad without the long flight, the sun was shining and having the out door pool was a bonus too. The girls are still buzzing about it and are looking into an excuse to book it again next year! The Bride to be was delighted and I am sure it will always be a beautiful place and fantastic party weekend she will never forget!
