There are no private beaches in Barbados, all are accessible to the public. SPEIGHTSTOWN BEACHES have access to free parking, sun-loungers, bars, cafes & restaurants. HEYWOODS BEACH has free parking and is wonderful for swimming. Take a boat ride to swim with the turtles or enjoy any of the watersports on offer. Mullins Beach with restaurant is a little further along the coast road. For stunning scenery, enjoy a leisurely drive along the EAST COAST road through Barclays Park to Bathsheba, take a picnic and enjoy the views!!

Hello from Vuemont Mount Brevitor! We loved this particular location as it offered that 'away from it all' feel in peaceful surroundings with wonderful ocean views and a cooling breeze. The swimming pools, jacuzzi, tennis courts and fitness room as well as easy access to local beaches make it ideal. Also, a very convenient supermarket is only 2 minutes away. We were impressed by nearby Speightstown which remains an authentically Bajan, unspoilt beach-side town and a great place to dine or sit and watch the sun go down sipping a glass of local rum punch! Speightstown has two beaches a good selection of shops, bars, restaurants, deli, bakery, art galleries and a museum. A little further along the coast road is Heywoods Beach. Mullins beach and lively Holetown are also a short drive away.

Green monkeys and humming birds visit the lush gulleys and gardens surrounding this small resort. The apartment is situated in a prime location on the highest point of the ridge with wonderful unrestricted views of the Caribbean Sea. We had lots of fun putting the finishing touches to our vacation property turning it into a comfortable, welcoming home from home. Splendid Condo

We have stayed in many rental properties in Barbados over the past twenty years, and this one is the best. The condo itself is very clean and attractive, and just as advertised. The rooms are large and well furnished, and the kitchen is well stocked with the necessities for cooking and dining. The balcony, where we spent most of our time, affords probably the best view in the development and is lovely for reading and meals. The air conditioner and fans work well, and the breezes from the hillside make use of the air conditioner generally unnecessary.

Jackie and John are the most efficient and thoughtful of the owners we have encountered. They have provided all the necessary directions for the condo: guides for the appliances, road maps, tourist tips, and the like. They have also secured the help of Noriette, who is a wonderful resource: she cleaned the apartment thoroughly during our stay and arranged quick and efficient service when the refrigerator developed a small leak. Jackie and John stay in close contact with her and their tenants.

Vuemont itself seems quite well run and is very quiet. The swimming pools are kept clean, and the landscaping is very attractive. The only downside—outside the control of the owners—is the approach road to Vuemont, which is full of holes and extremely narrow and windy. This is a small price to pay for a splendid property.

Beautiful apartment in Vuemont, superb facilities, great location.

We have just come back from a week at Jackie and John's apartment, everything was exactly how it was described in Homeaway. Very tastefully furnished, and plenty of room for 4 adults. Panoramic views of the East coast and round the end of the island towards the west coast, stunning.

Great location to explore Speightstown and Hometown, but everything is within and easy drive. We hired a Suzuki Swift car, you do need transportation, but if we go again I think I would hire a more robust Jeep type as the roads are very uneven and we felt every bump.

The restaurants in Speightstown are all very good and the locals are lovely people. Noriette was great, met us with a smile and looked after us very well.

Highly recommended, wouldn't hesitate to go back.

A Barbados Gem

Vuemont is situated on top of a hill some four miles from the town of Speightstown and the coast. The apartment is at the highest point and offers panoramic views over the North of the island, and as such is blessed with a cooling breeze.

The apartment is furnished to the highest specification and has all the facilities and equipment you could wish for (WiFi, Air Con, TV, Washing M/C etc). On arrival we were met by the maid Noriette, and the apartment was spotless and was serviced every three/four days.

The complex was very quiet and had three swimming pools, Jacuzzi, gym and tennis courts. It also had 24 hour security,

The booking process was straight forward, and Jackie the owner, furnished us with all the necessary details throughout the process right up to arrival.

Ideally you do need a car to get the full benefits of the area, although taxis are cheap and plentiful. Mullins Beach is a bout a ten minute drive away and affords sun beds and a small convenience store where you can purchase food and drinks, or of course you can use Mullins Beach Bar. There is always plenty going on there as it is the centre for water sports in the North of the island.

Restaurants are plentiful with many offering free taxi service - our favourite was the Fish Pot although the Moon bay Fish Fry is an experience.

Within 20 minutes drive are St Nicholas Abbey, the Animal Flower Cave and the stunning East Coast.

This is a wonderful apartment, on a wonderful complex with access to the real Barbados up in the North of the island.

Two relaxing weeks

Stayed at this apartment with my husband and son in July-August this year and had a fantastic two weeks. The apartment was clean and well-decorated, and we wanted for nothing whilst staying there. We made good use of the provided beach mats on our many visits to the beautiful and almost deserted Heywoods Beach where we spent lots of hours swimming and snorkelling. We enjoyed the location of the apartment as we felt Speightstown allowed us to experience more of the authentic Barbados than we would have had if staying on the south coast. The complex itself was quiet and well-maintained with three lovely pools (which we always had to ourselves), and we particularly loved the green monkeys who regularly came onto the site to raid the mango trees! The owner was wonderfully helpful from start to finish and was very accommodating when our return flight home was delayed for fourteen hours. A gem of a place.

Apartment on a quiet, delightful development

The details quoted in the listing were accurate, the pictures of the apartment in some ways do not do it justice. The same is very true of the Vuemont development which is a haven of peace and quite. The development is very well maintained by friendly gardeners, the pool man was a particular character.The apartment is one of the highest points in Vuemont and so has far reaching views to the Caribbean. There is a good range of kitchen equipment, certainly more than adequate for a holiday stay. If I have a criticism it was regarding the TV, a modest 28" and it would have been nice to have at least a clock radio in one of the bedrooms.

The property was very clean and clearly the subject of regular maintenance.

The contact with Jackie and John prior to the visit was always replied to very promptly. The guidance notes on the apartment that we received before we left home were most comprehensive.

The check in arrangement, being met at the apartment, was in part - great but in another way a pain. Due to the vagaries of the airport timing (in our case 2.5 hours to even get to immigration!) you need to call the housekeeper to arrange for her to meet you. Good to have the meet and greet but undue pressure after a long flight to arrive at the agreed time - a key safe would resolve this.

We did experience a number of issues with the apartment during our stay, none of these were really within the owners control, on each occasion we emailed Jackie and John we received very prompt replies. Appropriate action was taken as soon as was practicable. Jackie & John proactively offered a "thank you" payment to acknowledge the issues and our limited help in resolving them.

We visited numerous beaches on the island most of which are very small, some of which offered sun beds for hire, refreshments etc. at the other end of the spectrum some are completely un-spoilt such as Heywood's Beach. On balance Heywood's was our favourite not least as there are very few rocks in the water which is an issue in some other places. It is also the nearest to the apartment and there is ample free parking just yards from the sand.

Most people have heard of the Oistins fish fry, suggest that you should try the one at Half Moon Fort; much closer and less in your face with food cooked to order.

Aspects of the trip that were less than ideal include the state of the roads and road markings - very poor. If you expect road signs on anything other than the highways you will be disappointed.

Home from Home in the sun

A beautiful, spacious 2 bedroomed apartment which was well furnished and equipped. It is close to Speightstown with all amenities and a lovely beach (free sunbeds and umbrella at Jumo's restaurant if you buy a drink or meal there - good food), A good base to tour the island. We particularly enjoyed eating all our meals on the large balcony.
