Great lake for swimming and boating
We loved our stay at the lake house! The lake was beautiful and clean, the bedrooms were comfortable, and the house was well stocked with helpful items, including water toys and extra linens and towels. We also appreciated that it was dog-friendly and did not have a restrictive visitor policy, and we were able to have our pup stay with us, and have some family friends come for a beach day.
The entry into the water is from a dock or a concrete boat launch, and it was great to have use of the canoe and fishing boat. There wasn't a sandy beach, but the swimming area is sandy and relatively free of weeds.
The house is located on a busy road, but the speed limit is fairly low. Still, you do hear quite a bit of road noise. The lake side of the house is well separated from the road, however, and we never had to worry about our toddler or our dog wandering into the road. The house is also a close drive to Portsmouth, and we took a couple of trips into town on colder days, plus a day trip to the Children's Museum in Dover. It was great to have so many attractions nearby. The Winnie the Pooh trail is nearby and also worth checking out.
We would have given our stay a 5/5, but there were a couple of issues. The listing said that there was a fire pit, but for the week that we stayed there it was missing. There were also some maintenance issues - a rickety water faucet and some broken panels on a glass bedroom door. The living room also just had two chairs, so not great for a group.
