My husband and I have rented apartments in various countries with mixed experiences. We found this apartment to be everything it claimed to be and more. The location is ideal. It is a short walk to the Paseo del Prado where all the museums are located and also to the Plaza Mayor, Puerto del Sol, and the historical part of town. There are many restaurants, tapas bars and jazz clubs in the neighborhood. It is close to the metro and stores.
The apartment itself is very comfortable, well-equipped, tastefully furnished with lots of light . We were in the middle of our trip to Spain so were very happy to find a washer/dryer so we could have clean clothes.
Both the owner, Carmen, and Sol who met us at the apartment were very helpful. Sol even lent us a mobile phone for our stay.
I would highly recommend this apartment and hope that we will be able to return there on our next visit to Madrid.
El ático esta muy bien situado y está tal y como se ve en las fotos. Es muy silencioso y muy luminoso. Repetiriamos sin ninguna duda.
This place is perfect to stay at for a vacation in Madrid. It's very luminous, nicely decorated, and cozy to stay at. It has excellent restaurants and museum close by, and is located in a beautiful neighborhood. The owner was very kind and attentive. Overall, this place feels very "homey." I definately recommend this place.
This impeccable apartment is ideally located for anyone interested in art, gastronomy, people and even nightlife. The apartment comes fully equipped and the space is ideal for a couple. While the street may be a bit noisy at night, your sleep is protected by good isolation and the rear placement of the bedroom. You will enjoy eating in should you be so inclined but will find good restaurants within easy walking distance. Finally, the best feature of the whole adventure is Carmen, our hostess. She will provide good restaurant tips, solve problems and make you feel like a good friend. All in all, we could not have asked for a better choice. We are frequent travelers with lots of apartment renting experience.
I stayed in this apartment for three nights with my two kids. It is small but worked well for our purposes. The location is fantastic. We really didn't need to take public transportation at all as we could just walk everywhere. If we had wanted to take the metro it would have been very close too. The woman who let us into the apartment was very helpful with explaining the neighborhoods and took her time to help us. A few small tweaks to this rental would make a big difference, including: 1) there were no top sheets on the beds, only comforters. I assume the comforter covers are washed after every guest but having clean top and bottom sheets leaves a better impression and also helps if it is hot in the night, as it was for us. 2) The pull out couch bed is not very comfortable. 3) The towels in the bathroom are very thin and rough. Fine for our short stay but not great overall. Again, small adjustments that would really pay off.
This is the second time I have rented this apartment for two weeks each time while in Madrid. Again, it didn't disappoint. It is a sunny studio with a fully equipped kitchen. Plenty of room for one or two people. One note, there are two flights of stairs, one up to the elevator and then another one after getting off the elevator because it is a mansard studio apartment. Therefore, it is not wheelchair accessible, but I am 71 years old and had no problem with the stairs or the elevator. If one is tall, then there is a slight problem as the ceiling is slants to the roof line. So if you aren't careful, you can bump your head. I'm only 5 feet tall so I never hit my head. One wonderful thing is, the windows open up to the sky and one can fall asleep looking at the stars. Marvelous! There are two comfortable single beds pushed together to make a large double or one can pull them apart to make 2 singles. The photos exactly reflect the apartment, no surprises. The responses to my emails were quick and professional. My plans had to change twice and the owner was very gracious and worked with me on the changes. The agent (Sol) who met me at the apartment met me at the apartment on time and was charming, professional and fully answered all my questions. The apartment is located around the corner from the Plaza Santa Ana which is surrounded with Cafes and Restaurants. It is also one and a half streets from the Literary Street of Calle Huertas, very popular street also filled with Cafes and about 3 streets from Sol one of the main Plazas in Madrid. It is within walking distance of most of the museums such as the Prado and the Thyssen. I will certainly stay in this apartment a third time when I am again in Madrid and recommend it fully to friends and family.
