Perfect gathering place
Multiple rentals, multiple times. Love the places, location, amenities, etc. will rent again!
If you arrive late in the evening as we did be sure to remember that James Dean will be sitting in the dark looking at you when you open the bedroom door. ; ) Super happy with driving the extra distance to stay at this place. House was great, liked the Crate and Barrel look. The house is setback which we loved. The grasses have been trimmed down and there is a great ocean view. All one level was great with easy access to the main living area and the bedrooms. Staff was great and very responsive. Several properties owned so they are able to accommodate various groups. Such a peaceful place. Beach was so nice and clean. Easy to get out on the water. Took the kayaks way out in the bay. So much nature, had a blue crab swimming past me way out on the open water.
Short ride over to the historic Saint Mary’s.
Super dog friendly. We all loved being able to have the big guy with us all the time.
We just stayed here for the weekend, the house was adorable and very clean and we enjoyed that it was set back on the lot a bit for privacy. The community beach was really nice and a short easy walk. The only disappointing part was that the views weren’t what we expected based on the VRBO pictures. I was expecting the view from the house to be like the sunrise picture across the lake with the Bay behind it. Unfortunately the reality is that the cattail and other vegetation is so high you can’t see the lake or the Bay behind the lake from the house since it’s only a one story house. To the left of that there is a tall house between this house and the bay, you can see a little bit of the Bay in between that house and where the vegetation starts around the lake but that is it. Vegetation across the road obviously isn’t the owners fault, but it did impact our overall impression as far as views go. It might be a better view in the winter if some of the greenery dies down then.
Thank before your kind comments as well as your comment about what could be better. We're going to take a stab at cutting back the cattails - actually phragmites - to improve the beautiful view.
This property is in a perfect location. The house is perfect for families, the owner is wonderful to communicate with and my renting experience was a dream. The house has plenty of space and a beautiful claw foot bath tub. I am planning to hopefully come back and visit Peggy and team.
We had a wonderful, relaxing long weekend at your charming cottage! We loved the open floor plan, beams, rustic kitchen table, and eclectic decor. The entire cottage was well appointed with kitchen essentials, linens and towels and overall very cozy.
The only disappointment was our inability to get the TV in the family room to work in order to watch TV together.
Otherwise, everything was wonderful.
We were even fortunate to catch enough crabs for a smorgasbord for our last night’s dinner!
We will definitely recommend the Chesabelle to family and friends for a delightful coastal getaway!
We thank our guests for the kind comments. With respect to TVs, we have started a new protocol of the cleaners turning on every television. Often guests plug in electronic gadgets and don't put the television back to the correct setting. Also, if you do find an issue such as a television not working, you may call one of our property managers, whose numbers are listed in the welcome letters.
Serenity and beauty all just 2 (easy) hours from Washington DC. No Bay Bridge! This is a perfect place to unplug from the hustle and bustle, recharge and totally relax. This cottage is beautifully decorated, extremely comfortable, and offers a view of the bay, and a 5 min walk to the beach. It is also secluded and wonderfully quiet. The town is teeny tiny, and everyone is delightful. Get your supplies in California, MD on the way down (25-30 min away), but if you want locally grown fruits and veggies, you'll want to stop at Trossbach Produce Stand on Rte 5/Point Lookout Road, right there in Scotland, MD. Best local place for a cooked seafood meal is at Courtney's. (atmosphere leaves something to be desired, but the food is delish) Try to arrive or leave at sunset; it's breathtaking. Sunrise (if you want to wake that early) is spectacular from the cottage, or better from the beach. If you're looking to 'get away from it all', I highly recommend it. I can't wait to go back!
