New Year 2016/2017

Just back from New Year week at Oeak view. Thoroughly enjoyable stay. Location is perfect - many great places to see from Lady Bower reservoir on the doorstep to Castleton, Bakewell and Hathersage all Close by.

The cottage itself was the perfect size to accommodate us - we were 2 families of 4 adults and 5 children. Very inviting and cosy. Very well equipped kitchen with all that you need.

Plenty of bathroom / shower space too plus loads of towels and bedding and cushions which was all most welcome!

The hot tub was a real bonus and the kids especially loved it. It was even on warm and ready to use as we arrived.

It's a real bonus that Tesco deliver home shops and we had internet ordered before we set off and the groceries arrived an hour after we arrived. Parking is good too.

Anna and her family are great - not imposing (as we've experienced before) - but lovely on arrival and always happy to help out with our random questions!!

Genuinely no negatives - you're in the Peak District so wi-fi comes and goes but we knew that and it adjoins a working farm so you can hear the cows mooing - but that all adds to the charm.

Even a Wii for the kids along with working Sky box and DVD player

Would definitely recommend - very good value

Lovely country cottage

The property was gorgeous, a proper country cottage. It was clean and supplied everything we needed for our stay. We were abit dissapointed that the hot tub wasnt ready for use when we arrived the owners didnt let us know prior to our visit. Also the outside lighting is poor we struggled with the bbq due to this. Also the bbq had seen better days. All in all it was a lovely weekend and we would recommend.

Fantastic accommodation for family trip

This holiday was for 2 families of 4 over the half term. The barn is in a fantastic location just outside of Sheffield with lovely views and on a working farm. We were pleasantly surprised to find the owners had left us a welcome pack of bread, butter, milk and a bottle of wine in the fridge. The living room/dining area was a really sociable space and the kids and adults loved the hot tub, which was well used in the holiday! When the temperature dropped slightly on one day the owners were onsite and fixed the issue that night. There was no real negatives to this trip, one of the double rooms with the ensuite has a low roof and original beam which could be an issue if you are tall, luckily me and the husband agreed to take this room as we are the smaller couple! I would recommend this accommodation as it was well equipped, comfortable in a fantastic location and good value for money. We will certainly consider booking here in the future! X

Lovely barn conversion in great location

We are six friends who stayed here for a long weekend in October. The barn was comfortable and easily large enough for our group. As mentioned on previous reviews there were a few minor repairs needed for example - loose bathroom fittings, blocked shower drain etc. but they were minor issues and not large enough to affected the enjoyment of our stay. The hot tub was a treat (especially after a long walk), although ideally we would have liked it a tiny bit hotter. The location was perfect - it felt isolated, but was within easy reach of everything. We loved the fact that we could walk straight from the accommodation and that it was also only a short drive to Sheffield. We would certainly recommend this property to anyone who wants to visit the area.

Resposta do proprietário: Thank you so much for this feedback. Thank you for leaving our holiday cottage clean and tidy. There is a charge of £20 per dog for extra cleaning and steam cleaning of carpets etc. As there were 2 dogs we will deduct £40 from the deposit. We would like to point out that the disclaimer did state that if there were any problems please advise the owners prior to departure. As Mrs Bond did check that that everything was okay and nothing was stated, it was assumed that everything was ok. Since previous reviews we have installed a new shower so are surprised that the drain is blocked, but rest assured it will be investigated. Many apologies.

Nice and convenient

The cottage is in a great location and spacious enough for my family of 5.

The property needs a small amount of TLC (kitchen work top loose, towel holder loose, a few burned out light bulbs, etc) but overall it was a pleasure to stay there for 6 nights.

Stunning property in a tranquil location close to city and countryside

We stayed at this beautiful property last weekend for my sister's hen do and were delighted with it. The owners were truly excellent. We arrived to all the essentials - milk, bread, towels, bottles of wine, chocolates and flowers - and Anita was kind enough to pop her head in early evening to ensure we had all that we needed and everything was OK with the property.

The hot tub was lovely, the beds all very comfortable and plenty of space to relax together. We had a couple of extra people on the Saturday evening and Anita was very flexible to this - the property comfortably slept 11 (if you don't mind sleeping on an air bed/ sofa). The only thing that would have made this property perfect would have been a better oven as it was a little small to cook for 9 people in. That said, this did not have any impact on the quality of our stay therefore I could not give this less than a 5 star rating.

Highly recommended whether you want a countryside break or somewhere like us where you can easily get into the city.
