The property was not in good repair. When we arrived just after 4 the housekeeping staff was still there. They were very nice but after they left the house started to smell. It was like someone left the trash there too long. When we checked the cans the recycling and the trash were mixed up. I killed 2 roaches in the bathroom, and 2 different door handles fell off. Also the outside hose waitron up with a huge hole. I called the number to report that the house did not smell good but no one ever came. The location was in a good location but the house was not in good condition.

I am very upset the time of entry was at 4:00 and they let me in until 5:00 because they were still cleaning the house was not what I expected the doors of the house did not serve the whole day hard the refrigerator without working and all my food was spoiled I called to complain and they said nothing about it I paid enough money for a house that is not worth it the photos they publish of the house is totally false mind it is a house in very bad taste😡�😡�😡�😡�😡�😡�😡�
Ignore the previous negative reviews! House is fully stocked and equipped with all you’ll need - cookware, utensils, charcoal grill, beach chairs, towels, etc etc. house was spotless upon arrival. Strong A/C. Location is epic! Adjacent houses are all rentals so everyone is friendly. Highly recommended A+++
Do Not Rent This House. One star rating is only because of the location.
We spent six nights at Napping Turtle on Sept 8 and have never been so disappointed in a VRBO home. We arrived to find roaches, dead and alive, in the kitchen and one of the bedrooms. While the beds were all nicely made, we learned upon checking out that there were no mattress pads on either of the two upstairs queen beds, which is gross. Twice during our stay the handle of the kitchen door literally fell out of the door, causing us to cancel our plans and wait two hours for maintenance to fix it so we could leave the residence. This was a separate issue from the door locks that others have complained about. There were two drawers in the kitchen full of dirty and rusty utensils, including some with dried food on them. The drawers themselves were filthy as well, and there was grease and hair in one of the drawers. The upstairs bathroom floor was dirty, the floor rugs were in need of replacement or shampooing, and the ceiling vents were caked with grime and dust. The track lighting fixture in the kitchen is also dirty and falling out of the ceiling.
We contacted maintenance immediately when we arrived on Saturday about the dirty drawers and the roaches. It was not until late Sunday afternoon when a maintenance person came and sprayed the house for roaches, but we continued to see live roaches for the next few days which we had to spray with Raid. Cleaners arrived on Sunday and cleaned the drawers and the bathroom floor. They advised they could not clean the vents or the rugs as those would require a “deep cleaning” which the owner would have to request. They also said it is up to the owner to replace the utensils. With the cleaning fee that was charged, we expected that the house would actually be clean. Vtrips did refund the cleaning fee upon our return home, but we would rather have had a clean home without worrying about when the next roach would be crawling up a wall or on the floors.
The garage door opener is also in need of repair or replacement. We had to contact Vtrips when we checked out because the garage door would not close, and we were advised to check out and leave the door open.
The location of this home is excellent. It sits right on the beach, the views from the decks are outstanding, and it is a short drive to Publix and the sights of St. Augustine. I would also add that the maintenance and cleaning personnel at Vtrips were very nice and did the best they could considering the poor condition of the home.
We understand that your stay was disappointing and for the inconveniences that you endured during, we apologize. It is never our goal to provide our guests something that they are not expecting. For any misunderstandings on our end, please know that this was not our intent and we are hopeful that we will be able to make things right for you. Critters are never welcome in a home and we make it a priority to spray the property on a consistent basis due to the Florida weather as well as guest comfort is a priority. We extend our deepest regrets that this was your experience and if there was anything more that our team could have done to solve this issue quicker, we would have been more than happy to. We do appreciate you giving us the opportunity to try to rectify the situation for you quickly as we know this was not apart of your original vacationing plans. Understanding that things cannot always be perfect but we want you to know that whenever a problem arises, we will do our very best to get it handled so you may continue to enjoy your stay. As your decision to not return is disappointing, we did let you down by not providing you with a great vacationing rental experience. We do hope that you will reconsider in the future and allow us to host you once more. You'll be happy to know that since your departure, the unit has gone through a deep clean as well as repairs regarding the garage door and kitchen door handles. In addition to the cleaning fee being refunded, please accept 10% off your next rental. We know that this will not make up for any lost time, but we hope that this will be a good start to making amends. Thank you for your sharing your comments and feedback.
The location is wonderful! The property had plenty of beach accessories, a bbq grill which was a plus!! Price point is incredible for oceanfront rental and it is peaceful. We were there during Labor Day weekend & the beach was tranquile. Most of the people we saw live in adjacent houses. Home comfortably accommodates
9. Some reviews pointed to negatives without mentioning the home location. The house could use some updating along with a deep cleaning. One of the French door handles was problematic but we managed. The location is 5+, interior a 3. Overall a solid 4 rating. We would definitely stay here again.

Let me begin by saying that my husband and I have 3 teenagers and 3 smaller children with the youngest being 2 months old. My teenagers arrived at the house a few minutes before we did and could not figure out the key pad (I had no trouble with it once arriving) so they walked to the back porch to wait for us. One of them turned the handle to the french door and it was UNLOCKED. So they waited for my husband and I to get there and check it out in case someone had wandered into the house. After my husband gave the all clear we went in and unpacked. We remained at the home that day as it was later when we arrived. Upon locking up for the night even with the instructions on the door my husband nor I could get both sets of french doors lock. I tried to get in touch with the maintenance department but the website they sent me to contact then with would not load. I was frantic as I was now going to have to sleep with unlocked doors in a strange place with all of my children. My husband ended up tying garbage bags around the door handles and moving chairs in front of them for the night. The next morning I had to go into town for the website to work to contact maintenance. I contacted them that morning and did not receive a call back until that NIGHT. They sent to repairmen who were also unable to lock the doors because they are damaged and need replacing. After an hours work they got them locked and told us not to open them until they could contact the owners to see what they wanted to do. We did not here from anyone the next day so all the foot traffic had to go through mine and my husband room because that french door worked. The next day my husband and I went out to dinner around 6:30 while at dinner I received a call from maintenance wanting to come to the house. They asked if they had permission enter since we were not there and I told them absolutely not as my children (teenagers were baby sitting the smaller ones) were there alone and I did not want strangers there. The rep acted a little miffedand said the workers would just go to another job. I asked him why wait until this late in the evening and he didnt know. I asked to speak with a managers or the owners asap. I never heard another word from them. We stayed from mon- sat. That being said the house is beautiful and well equipped and is literally steps from the beach and a short drive to st. Augustine. We will not be back for the price we paid a d the service we got.

These are special Andersen doors where the handle must be lifted and then locked. We have taken additional steps to make the process of locking the doors more simplistic. Detailed instructions are laminated and posted adjacent to the doors to try to alleviate any confusion. We have also included the door instructions into our guest welcome packet prior to arrival. Fully committed to making this right for our guests, we will be including a how-to video for this process. It is our hope that this will help immensely and dilute any uncertainty.
