We had a great stay. The condo is as advertised. The views are spectacular. Roy the property manager is very accommodating if you need anything. We were looking for something out of the resorts to get a feel for living on the island / cooking our own food and this was a perfect fit. It has a good location so you can get anywhere on the island easily. I do recommend renting a car though, but I would regardless of where you stayed on the island there is just too much to see not to be able to get around. The bottom line is the condo was well worth the money and I'd stay there again. Hope you enjoy your trip as much as we did.
We came to this island ahead of hurricane Sandy after conferring with and getting ok'd by the owner; stayed for 8 nights. We had previously intended to come for my husband's birthday in August but he ended up having surgery! The owner was quite accomodating.
The condo was as described and pictured and ocean front (sea wall separates condo from ocean). It was clean and well maintained. Well stocked with whatever you need for a beach/island vacation (they even had a bottle of vodka and a bottle of white wine!), including pots/pans/cups/glasses, lots of towels, clean linen, snorkel, fins, books for down time, and anything else to make your stay comfortable. A bit of a problem with internet access (no wifi in condo) but go to sitting area by the office and wifi to no end. But you are not on the island to go on the internet, so this is not a big deal. Sleep with the sliding doors open and low ceiling fan setting--you won't need AC. The sound of the ocean waves will lull you to a restful sleep but if you a light sleeper, then bring ear plugs.
Places to eat: Mocha Jumbies Cafe, La Reine Chicken Shack (go before 4pm or call ahead to pick food up at the bar after 4:30pm), Blues bbq grill (11-7pm Wed to Sun), Pier 69 in Frederiksted (newly reopened, new owners), Angry Nates, Rum Runners. You will get too much food and always end up with leftovers to eat the following day. I really wanted to eat at Ace Roti but could never find it! Foodtown and Pueblo for groceries. Best drinking water: Niagara brand or Dasani, can't drink tap water.
Finally, Mr. Roy (condo manager, super) is ever present and willing to answer every question and meet every need you might have. Thank you for the yellow plantains (coat lightly with sugar, fry in butter until golden brown and caramelized and sprinkle with coconut flakes for dessert--his recipe!). Thank you, thank you, thank you.
It really was lovely stay on a lovely island.
This is a great rental! The location is great - travel to either end of the island is easy, there's a long stretch of sandy beach to walk, the breeze off the ocean is amazing & the view is beautiful - you can even watch the sunrise while lying in bed! Everything was very clean & pretty and the condo is very spacious, with a lot of closet & drawer space. Listening to the waves at night is soothing and the bed was so comfortable! There's a great supply of bath & beach towels, beach chairs and snorkel gear. The patio is great and the perfect place for your morning cup of coffee & we saw Eagle Rays swimming around right in front of the condo several times! The kitchen is well stocked - we used the blender, coffee maker & toaster every day, as well as several of the seasonings & spices. Internet service was great and there is a tv & dvd player, although we didn't even turn it on during or stay -much better to watch the ocean! The owners were easy to book with and provided a lot of informative & useful information about the condo & things to do/see on the island before we arrived. It was obvious they care about their renters and want to make your trip as enjoyable as they can. I honestly can't think of anything we didn't like! We hope to return to St Croix and will definitely try to plan our trip for when this condo is available.
THAT VIEW!!! The sound of the ocean at night was so soothing and the breeze was fabulous. We loved that we were close to Christianstad but also within a half-hour of Frederickstad. On one of our walks down the beach to the east, my husband found a HUGE conch shell about 3/4 of which was buried in the sand (right at the edge of the water). Since they don't allow you to take those home, we cleaned it up and left it at the unit.
The bed was surprisingly comfortable. I'm never sure about that because we both have issues if we sleep on a too-soft mattress but this was firm without being stiff as a board. We slept great.
We didn't manage to finish all of the rum we bought so we left a bit for the visitors who were coming in behind us...hope they enjoy it as much as we did!
It was amazing. We now know what it is like to have the ocean on your front door.
It was a bit hard to find as the road signs were sparse.
Would definitely recommend getting some help (taxi the first trip)
We felt safe and welcome.
Gary's Seaclusion rental was exactly what we were looking for when we came to St Croix for a destination wedding of a friend. We decided to rent a car and book a condo to save money on eating out and the wedding venue prices were over $300 a night! I am so glad we chose this spot instead. The ocean right outside the bedroom was so soothing and coffee and breakfast on the patio was a highlight of the day. 2 couches for reading and the perfect little kitchen for prepping meals, smoothies, and coffee. The location was close to Christensted and we took a day trip to Fredricksted too, I thought the location was perfect. Grocery stores near by and not too far to have a drink with dinner and worry about getting home. We even found ourselves looking at other condos in the complex to own! This is not a super fancy shi-shi place or development, but for an incredible view, great location, and convenience at the right price we couldn't have been happier.
10 minutos a oeste de Christiansted.
