Very cozy accommodations to unplug and enjoy a family setting. Tucked away up in the mountains, but still only about 20-30 minutes from downtown Bozeman, and easy access to every direction- YNP to the south, Hot springs to the West, Bozeman to the north. The cabin was CLEAN, and I mean cleaner than most 3 and 4 star hotels I've stayed in. Ted, the host, was very welcoming and answered every question I had. Even the facility mascot, a large German Shepherd, was SO nice! No TV, which is how I wanted it, though there is TV available in the lodge. Wifi worked well, especially given the rural location. Cabin was stocked with everything we needed for meals, bath and bedtime, everything worked. It rained almost the entire time, but we went to the hot springs, used the kids DVDs at the lodge, played outside between rain (2 kids under 8 with us). If it was nice, there's lots of lawn for any activity, a horse shoe pit, fire ring, small playground, hiking trails on site, and fishing a short drive away. It really is on a mountain top, so the views are fantastic. With all the rains I loved watching the clouds roll in over the peaks. I WILL be back to this place. Cheers to Ted and facility staff, keep up the great work!
We stayed here while we moved our daughter into the dorms at MSU. It's a bit out of the way but most people will think that is a great thing. The views were beautiful. Ted is very friendly and helpful. The only things I didn't particularly like were the long list of things we were expected to do at check out, including stripping the beds and walking all of our towels over to the lodge to be laundered. Also, a little updating of certain things should be done. It sounds silly but the silverware is very cheap and makes trying to grab your food with a fork difficult. We replaced their vegetable peeler because the one provided would bend when we used it.
I fell in love with the dog who roams the property. He is gentle, sweet, and friendly. He even accompanied us on one of our walks. This is a great place to stay when you want to get away but you aren't too far from downtown Bozeman and the MSU campus (about a 20 minute drive).
We stayed here the week of MSU move in and it was great! The place is wonderful. Super clean and spacious. My elderly dad was with us and the peaceful setting was great for him. My kids played ping pong in the lodge, went for hikes, and had such a fun time. Would love to stay here again!
The location of Mountain Top Retreat in the Gallatin Forest, yet only 15 minutes to Bozeman is superb. The house is so comfortable, extremly clean and everything is provided - there are even laundry facilities nearby for a moderate fee. The peace and quiet were perfect and the views are wonderful. We did lots of hiking (thanks again for the loan of the local hiking book, Ted) and we would love to return to do more in this stunning area. Bozeman is a lovely town and we would like to explore that more too. We didn't eat out in Bozeman, but the restaurants did look very enticing, so we hope to be back. I recommend this vacation rental 100%.
My family and I had a wonderful stay at Mountaintop. These are not cabins, they are guest houses. They are very clean, bright and furnished with everything but your food! There are trails up the mountain for a great day hike. Bozeman Hot springs is a short drive away as is all of Bozeman, MT. There are many places to hike, bike or just sit in this area. When I needed rest I got it in this quiet, relaxing house. And when I wanted exercise or a trip to town that was readily available too. I will be returning to stay at Mountaintop again either with my family or perhaps for a sabbatical.
We spent a month here as a family this summer - 2 young boys with my wife and me. We had a ball--very comfortable home, and lots of greenspace for the guys to play outside. The Lodge has a games room, as well as TV room (Satellite and DVDs), and a very cozy fireplace/library with awesome deck. Our boys became Ping-Pong experts.
Hiking is directly out the back door, or as close as one mile on National Forest trails. Bozeman just 12 minutes away. Big Sky and Yellowstone "around the corner" (Montana style). We had more fun exploring the area on day trips.
We also spent a number of days just chilling on the Mountain Top. We loved the serenity and grandeur of the views.
The cabin itself was simple and became "home" very quickly. We have travelled extensively as a family, and to have a place to call home while on the road is a huge blessing. Home cooked meals complemented Bozeman's great restaurant scene. There are charcoal grills for grilling the perfect T-bone. Everything in the cabin was clean, bright, and good for our family.
The hosts (Ted and Laura) were extremely friendly and helpful. They gave prompt attention to every question we had--whether it was directions to a shop or a question about our cabin. Their warmth gives the Mountain Top a great atmosphere.
Not only would I recommend it, I'm hoping to come back.
