What a special place. Paul and David have created a little piece of paradise in the hills of Sicily. Everything about our stay was absolutely perfect - even the weather was better than expected! Their home has been immaculately and lovingly rebuilt from the ruins of an abandoned olive mill. Their attention to detail is apparent everywhere you look, from the amazing kitchen sink to the beautiful Sicilian pottery, the comfy furnishings, the lovely terrace, and the lush gardens surrounding the house. The kitchen was very well stocked, including olive oil from their own trees. The bedrooms are spacious and very comfortable, each with it's own bathroom. We slept every night with the doors wide open, enjoying the cool night air and listening to the cow bells gently ringing as the cows grazed on the hills around the property.
We had every intention to explore the area, but we soon found ourselves so relaxed and happy at Casa Pergola that we didn't range very far. We mainly ate at home, enjoying the spectacular views down the valley as the sun set. Filippo at the macelleria in Caccamo kept us well supplied with local meat, and fresh vegetables were plentiful, including from Paul and David's gardens. Cooking and eating in such a beautiful location feels more decadent than eating out!
The physical beauty of Casa Pergola is lovely and well worth a visit (or two!) on its own, but what makes it truly exceptional are the hosts. Paul and David are so warm and inviting, and they made sure that our every wish was looked after. They're more than happy to share their wealth of information about the area, the best local wines, beaches, recipes, shops, restaurants, and more. They made us feel genuinely welcome and comfortable in their home. Brace yourselves, Paul and David. We'll be back!
Baci!

Spectacular views of the mountains and the lake. Wonderful garden. We loved picking lettuce, arugula and herbs for cooking. Paul and David were wonderful, attentive hosts. Good value. Would have appreciated a microwave and American drip coffee pot. Would definitely recommend wholeheartedly to family and friends.
The pictures indicate exaclty what you get: A wonderfull view, a clean & big pool you can use basically from mid-March onwards (the warmth depends on sun hours/day), a huge terrace… the view is stunning and we loved it with a fresh coffee in our hands prior to breakfast! The interior of the house is not only in perfect harmoney, it is also functional with a very well equipped and clean kitchen. What you also get in each and every of the 3 bedgrooms is a that great view and very comfortable mattrasses. Getting to your house requires some driving skills as the final part is a bumpy offroad – but we managed it with a 9 person van and so will you. You´ll get rewarded with a great house & tranquil hinterland.
The travel we´ve done during our 2 weeks stay was to: Palermo (3x), Monreale, Cefalu (2x), Segestra, San Stefano di Canastra (great for pottery), Castelbuono, Caccamo and Mondello Beach (great in the off-season as not overcrowded). A tip for Palermo if you don´t want to deep dive into the city trafic: Leave your car at Forum Palermo and take the tram for 1,40€ / single ride to Central Stration (the tickets are valid for 90min for all trams & buses – take enough coins with you for the machine). From the stop walk 50m to main bus stop and take bus no. 109 to Placa Interdependence as a starting point to explore Palermo by foot. On your way back you can do some shopping for cloths & groceries in the Forum.
Last but not least thanks Paul & Dave! We did experience very good B&B´s and houses in the past but what you guys have built up is amazing. And thanks so much for your outstanding hospitality! Tip: Take advantage of dinner opportunities as soften as you can. You will not regret it! Greetings from Jennecken, Germany (near Cologne)
What a genuine surprise and delight. From the journey in to the hosts. Paul and David were looking after our every want and need and yet giving us complete privacy. Beds were comfortable and views from all angles were outstanding. Great suggestion from Paul on evening meals, we suggest you take his lead. Most relaxing and enjoyable part of out trip to Italy
Thank You Paul and David. We will be back!!
Many thanks Paul and Dave for your hospitality, and special grees to Geró :),
Cheers, Doris & Thomas
