Breathtaking view, fabulous accomodations!

Me, my wife and our two daughters (16 and 12) spent a week. The house is as described, well kept with lots of windows and an open airy floor plan. We enjoyed lounging by the pool and relaxing after a day at the beach or on a jungle adventure. The view is stunning and the Ticos and Ticas in Uvita warn and welcoming. Estephany and Alex are charming and attentive but never intrusive. Del was very helpful and his recommendations spot on. I highly recommend that you rent Del's 4 x 4. It's fun to drive and I wouldn't want to drive up and down the mountain with a lesser vehicle.

As Del says, not just a great vacation but a great adventure!

I believe that from the moment you step off the plane I feel I can positively impact the quality of your vacation, by arranging to have someone(English speaking) to greet you and wisp you off to our lovely home, To arranging for your rental of my personal 8 passenger SUV, to arranging for my chauffeur to drive you, to having my chef cook a welcome meal for you, to arranging all your tours. Once you receive the highest personal care of Del Congos Exotica, you will relax immediately as we believe "this is how we would like to be treated when we vacation!"

Fantastic place as a base in Uvita

Dels Congos exotica was the perfect place for 2 couples in Uvita. The views are awesome and the wildlife was great. Toucans everyday and monkeys quite a few days (howlers and capuchins). The house was very well set up with everything you need. The drive up the mountain was an adventure, but by the end of the week it was old hat. Alex and Estephanie are a wonderful couple ready and willing to always help with genuine good humour. We had them do dinner for us on our 1st and last night. Highly recommended!

If you like to hike, I suggest going up the mountain. It's a gentler grade rewarded with great views. We did walk down to town once...make sure you have strong knees😀

Uvita itself is a great base for the area, very functional and friendly.

The only suggestion I can think of to improve the experience would be to expand on the outdoor seating, maybe a love seat and a couple of chairs.

Would highly recommend this place to anyone except physically challenged (stairs and steep grades) or small kids (no shallow end in pool)

It sounds like you really enjoyed the privacy and unique combination of 13 acres of Primary Jungle (almost all rental homes are in Secondary Jungle) and 50 miles of Expansive Ocean Views. I am glad that you enjoyed all the wildlife because I have been told they love primary Jungle also thus the reason you saw so many. Yes, Alex and Estephany really enjoy cooking for our guests and making them feel welcome. I really appreciate your comment on adding a love seat and some chairs to the outside terrace however that would mean removing the 4 comfortable chaise lounge chairs which most people love to sit in swimming suits and relax on. Of course the 20X20 living room has couches and chairs, as well as super large patio doors and windows that open which gives the feeling of being outside when open. The Lap pool does have steps for young ones and the infinity edge also has a step so young adults can stand on them and view the ocean. On behalf of my staff and I , we sincerely hope you will return to visit again.

Would NEVER go back...

This property is very difficult to get to. The owner offers his 4x4 for a very steep price. When we arrived we realized there was no cable/satellite or air conditioning as advertised. The water takes for ever to get hot. The infinity pool did not work. The TV had lines going through it. The caretaker had to bring down a small one from the other house. The power went out one afternoon for 6 hours. We had no matches or candles. You can't put paper in the toilets. One toilet did not work at all for the entire week. I have been to Costa Rica two other times and have never experienced so many issue!!!

Resposta do proprietário: There is a full-time couple(available 24/7) that lives in another house on our 13 ½ acre estate that is dedicated to helping clients with any issues they may have. The house is only 1 year old and is maintained very well by our staff. We have Hot water on demand , it takes 6-8 seconds to travel from the water heater to the shower, I am sorry if that appears to be forever. In all of Costa Rica, there are receptacles in all bathrooms for “all paper waste” . We recommend a strong 4X4 vehicle to everyone who travels in Costa Rica as the entire country is mountainous and 80% gravel roads. I offer my Turbo Diesel Toyota Prado (Lexus 460) 8 passenger for rent to clients so they will feel comfortable on any Costa Rican roads. Naturally , it is always more expensive price than a Daihatsu Bego which they rented . I warned her weeks before her stay she would not be happy with the cheapest 4X4. We are the 1st property of an International Development of 30 Luxury Homes and a $700/night Boutique Hotel. The roads are well maintained by our private road association. The client stated that the infinity edge pool didn’t work. There are no working parts in an infinity edge pool . You fill water to the edge and when viewing it (with the Ocean in the background) , the water appears to connect with the Ocean. Costa Rica is still a 3rd World Country thus the Electrical Grid is under developed and occasionally has power outages and surges which I found out damaged the TV causing lines. We provided a replacement Tv which was not as large as the Original . We have since replaced the TV with a New 50” Smart TV which can access the Internet . Alex the caretaker said that the power went out at 2:00 in the afternoon and thus Client had 4 ½ hours to locate the candles and matches we provide. Client could not find matches so she emailed me the following: “We will seek retribution” Please read the other reviews for a true perspective of our lovely home!

Lots of Privacy and meticulously maintained

What a Unique setting. Lots of Privacy with a 50 mile Coastline Ocean view all on 13 1/2 acres with some monkeys and toucans galore. The daily cleaning staff is optional but much appreciated and will come at whatever time you specify ( like when you go out on a tour or for a morning mountain walk0. We walked up the mountain almost everyday and saw many birds there also and only an occasional motorcycle if any. The grounds are meticulously maintained with many tropical flowers and fruits which the gardener gave us. We especially liked the super high ceiling and the cool night air made for ideal sleeping temperature without A/C. Wake up every morning to the sounds of the Jungle , jump into the infinity edge lap pool, have a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice , and watch the Whales tail Formation as it goes to Low Tide. Never heard nor saw any neighbors (people) only sounds of the Jungle . There is very little Primary Jungle left in Costa Rica which makes this place so very special.

Beautiful House but it is a LONG way up the mountain

This house is absolutely beautiful and the view is gorgeous as long as the clouds cooperate. Many days we had no view which probably had a lot to do with the time of year. There are two houses and in our opinion this house is the more private one. Unfortunately, there was not much wildlife only toucans.

There is a lot of motor bike/motorcycle noise early in the morning - probably people going to work but it was not something we expected to hear.

We rented our car using Sylvia at the Uvita Visitor Center prior to our arrival. She got us a great price We told her exactly where we were staying to insure the car could make it up the mountain. Alamo car rental came and dropped the car off and picked it up. They were exceptional.

Please note this home is off the beaten path and the drive up the mountain is not for the inexperienced driver. I could not have done the drive and even my husband was uncomfortable at times; especially after a heavy rain. We would have never driven up at dark - remember it gets dark early in Costa Rica.

After booking this villa, the owner sent us all types of documentation and it talked about the ride up to the house. After I read all this documentation, we probably would have cancelled due to the drive up but there is NO refund for cancellation. So if you have concerns about the drive, you may wish to request the information before booking so you can review. If you choose not to have a car, the owner does offer the option of a private driver and the use of his car all at additional costs.

Although the house and view is beautiful, the drive up and down the mountain gets kind of old. We have stayed at other nice VRBO rentals in the Dominical and Uvita areas that give us beautiful views and lots of wildlife without the long, steep drive up the mountain.

Since we count on these reviews when we choose our VRBO/HomeAway rentals, we wanted to share our opinion of this home.

The two caretakers are very sweet but they have very limited English so it can often be hard to let them know what you want and do not want. I suggested to the owner that he should ask this of his guests prior to their arrival so their is not misunderstanding.

I am also saddened that the week you choose the weather pattern stalled due to tropical storms north of Costa Rica. Since you are so familiar with traveling there , I assume that you decided to rent anyway in October since the price I advertised was greatly reduced to reflect the possible disappointment. You are right in saying the mountain roads other than main highways are gravel and steep. This is a fact of all of Costa Rica. Our road is maintained by a formal road association of International property owners and ranks among the best . Our property is the 1st in our development of 30 some houses and our land is 13 1/2 acres and seems isolated only because of its size. This adds to its privacy.

Wonderful

We loved the house. The view is beautiful, the pool is lovely, and the house was squeaky clean. We hired Estephany to make dinner for us on two nights, and highly recommend her cooking. Alex is very nice and goes beyond the extra mile. The house is off the beaten track, which was perfect for our family. We rented Dell's 4x4,, a very convenient option. The toucans greeted us every morning at 7am in the trees right outside of the house. We would definitely return.

The fact that we have 13 1/2 acres of land provides an environment that is very secluded even though we are in a development just a 1/3 mile above Uvita (as the Toucan Flies). You can lay in bed and see the lights of Uvita and the stars at the same time. Because we are situated uniquely in natural primary jungle, you will see many more exotic birds that at other rental houses. Why wouldn't you feel at home with nature when you can't hear or see our other neighbors who are more that 1/4 mile away and 300 feet in elevation below you. It's less that 15 minutes to the best shopping and restaurants , yet a real oasis of privacy. Estephany and Alex will pamper you or if you choose leave you totally alone but are available for any questions on a moments notice , as they live on the property near the entrance. Come join us, You will not be disappointed that you did. We also provide concierge services for transportation or tour booking at no extra charge.
