Unit really only has one bed which is old and lumpy. The other "beds" are sofas with a fixed back and seat on which someone can sleep but it is quite uncomfortable.
My husband and I were looking for a place to stay in the UES while visiting our son. Katia's place was only a block away -- which was perfect for us.
Location-- Katia's place is situated about 1 mile from Central Park and the MET. In addition, you can easily walk to downtown/ Park & 5th Avenue. The closest Subway Station is about 0.5 miles away on Lexington Ave & 77th Street. Very convenient. From there you can go anywhere around NYC.
Service-- Katia responded promptly to all my inquiries and arranged for Jonathan to meet us on the day of our arrival. She graciously agreed to let us check in early as we had arrived at 6 am from the West Coast and were very tired.
Accommodations-- the small apartment, located on the 3rd floor, is very bright and cozy. It has a living room, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom; which was more than enough room for us.
Bedroom-- The double bed though a bit small and soft was adequate. There is a air conditioner in the bedroom but we really didn't need it as we had fall weather. It is noisy from the traffic below -- but I used ear plugs at night and had no problem sleeping at night.
Bathroom -- The shower faucet handle needs to be repaired as does the towel rack- there were brackets still on the wall from where the towel rack used to be. Shower curtain liner should be replaced. I would recommend cleaning underneath the small shelf between the sink and the shower.
Cleanliness-- Although, the apartment was adequately cleaned, I do feel like the apartment could use a deep cleaning and de-cluttering. There are a lot of leftover gallon sized water bottles in the refrigerator as well as half empty bottles of conditioners, lotions, creams, etc.
Overall Experience-- I would definitely recommend Katia's apartment. The service was great, the apartment is spacious for NYC, the location is perfect, there are many eating places to pick from and the neighborhood is very safe. I think the few recommendations I listed above would make staying in Katia's apartment even more comfortable.
We loved this cute NYC apartment. Katia was more than accomodating to our flight schedules, allowing us to drop our luggage off prior to check in and also store it at the apartment after checkout due to having an evening flight. The apartment was clean and in a great location. I would reccomend this apartment to anyone and hope to use it again in the future!
Perfect for the two of us. Clean, great part of town. Subway about 3 blocks away. Would definately stay again. But, it is a little pricey.
Jonathan, who arranged letting us in was great (not like trump great, just great in a normal sense).
We truly enjoyed our stay at this cute NYC apartment. Katia was gracious and accomodating. The neighborhood felt safe, was centrally located, and had good local shopping and restaurants. The apartment was very clean and for a 1 bedroom, it had plenty of space. Overall, I would recommend this property and I appreciated the excellent customer service.
Owner: Katia was very easy to deal with - quick responses to all my e-mails and requests, and she also graciously allowed early check-in and late check-out that we were very appreciative of, as our flight from Vancouver arrived very early and left back very late, so we were not sure what to do with our suitcases. It's very important to have a responsible owner that you can rely on in a new and unknown city.
Apartment: it was very clean and nice, lots of natural light, newly renovated kitchen and bathroom. Kitchen had gas stove, microwave and coffee-maker, pans and pots and enough plates + cutlery. Bathroom had lots of space for all the toiletries in a mirror cabinet and on the shelves, blow-dryer. Water pressure was OK, and hot water was always available. The best feature of this apt that it has air conditioners in both rooms, that really helped when it was +31C (88F) outside.
The area is very quiet (by "quiet" I mean "New York quiet" = you still hear noise from the street traffic, but it starts only at 7 am): there are no night clubs close by or heavy trucks passing, so it's very quiet at night.
The nearest subway station is 15 minutes walk away, and you can walk to Central Park or Madison Ave (takes about 30 minutes or so)
The bed was not very comfortable, but was OK (the mattress was too soft for our liking, but everybody's preferences are different).
There is no cable TV, just Netflix, which you have to pay for, so we never used TV, which was a good break from our daily routine at home, thank you Katia!
The apartment is on the 3rd floor (no elevator), but it was fine even for me (over 50 years old and not at all physically fit).
All in all we really enjoyed our stay and I would recommend this apt to anyone who visits New York.
