We had a great stay in this beautiful apartment. Spacious, clean, comfortable place with a beautiful bathroom and kitchen. It's in a nice non touristy neighborhood, two minute walk to the T and were in the heart of Boston in just a few stops. My 18 year old son was easily able to get himself to his trombone lessons we were in town for. We got the week pass for the T which was a great deal even for a few days and took the T everywhere. Neighborhood has lots to offer close by. Love the corridor park across the street. Playgrounds and a walking and separate bike path that runs to the city. Cafe with wonderful coffee and pastries less than a block away. Restaurant next to it was good, Coffee and Feed was nice to have nearby. Took the Sam Adams Tour which was fun and quite a deal for $2! Doyle's pub was a fun place to eat, and has a fantastic fish sandwich. Christine was great to work with. Wish we could have stayed longer but we'll be back!
Stayed here for a few days with my husband and 20something daughter. Location was excellent. 5 minute walk to the T. The Arthouse was as clean as could be and extremely comfortable. We had plenty of room to relax and beds were super comfortable. Coffee shop a few doors down provided us with the needed caffeine every morning. Christine was so very helpful...printed some tickets for us and left at our door....recommended Tres Gatos for drinks and appetizers one night and it was a 10 minute walk and so so soooo good. Maybe our favorite meal! Our internet connection was spotty..but Christine said there was construction in the area that was causing problems. She offered to come by to see if she could help with it, but we declined bc it wasnt anything super important (and besides, our phones were surfing fine)...I would definitely recommend this rental to anyone looking to stay in Boston...super convenient to everything via the T, and much more spacious and relaxing than a hotel room, for less money. (just remember to bring own soap and shampoo, etc...we forgot our soap but cvs solved that. ). Great , great stay!
This great apartment was easy to get to. It was a two minute walk from the Stony Brook T station on the Orange line. We had never been to Boston and had no trouble taking the T from the airport to the apartment. The keyless entry was easy to use and the apartment was clean and had plenty of space for three adults. It is within a minute walk to a great coffee shop and bar. Great place, and we would stay again for sure! Very reasonably priced.
Loved the cool modern atmosphere in a 200 year old building. Updated remodel with current appliances while maintaining quirky historical touches. Stayed for 3 days with husband and 80 year old parents and although I worried about the stairs, it didn't bother them in the least. Great neighborhood with restaurants and bars and although not in downtown Boston, the proximity to the T station made everything within easy reach. We had never been to Boston and had an amazing holiday which certainly centered around our stay at Arthouse.
My friend and I rented the Art House together during our winter break from our work in a Middle School with special needs students. We found the apartment very comfortable, tastefully furnished and the neighborhood was delightful. We were also appreciative of the proximity to the subway stations as that negated a lot of driving. The only thing that dampened our visit was a plumbing issue. After being in the apartment all of four hours, one of us used the bathroom. The toilet overflowed and we immediately shut off the valve to stop incoming water. We also very quickly dried the floor of the bathroom, e-mailed Christine and waited for help. Shortly after that incident, water was heard flowing into the downstairs apartment. We ran down to check on the tenants and a waterfall was flowing through their ceiling. All water was turned off upstairs. Christine accused us of destroying the downstairs apartment and also damaging the bathroom upstairs. There was no standing water upstairs, we were quick to remedy the situation in our bathroom and used a public toilet down the road until we were assured the problem was fixed. We were not in the building long enough to cause that kind of back up in a toilet. Christine told us that the toilet needed to be plunged after every flush which is indicative of an ongoing problem, but only told us that after the initial flush that caused so much trouble. Not only does Christine hold us responsible for the overflow, she did not return our deposit and threatened a lawsuit. She never once came by to check on us, sending her boyfriend the plumber instead at a very late hour. Not once during our three day stay did she stop by or e-mail to check on our well being. Instead she sent an e-mail to me when I got home in which she said I was negligent for not finding a place for her tenants to stay. I was a guest, and did not think I had to do that job, but apparently she did. My friend wrote a review similar to mine, but Christine told Homeaway she never stayed there. Not only did she stay, she paid half the rental fee. What should have been a pleasant time visiting my grown sons and also sitting by the girlfriend of one as he underwent surgery, turned into a nightmare. My traveling companion and I are in our late fifties, have used Homeaway many, many times and have never been disappointed nor denied a damage deposit. We leave places better than we found them. Christine's plumbing and heating problems were beyond my control.
