Professionally decorated home in a quiet cove on Smith Mountain Lake. This home includes gorgeous views from the living room, a custom nautical themed bar and lots of surrounding decks. Located on a very secluded cove with 8-10' of clean water, you can spend hours floating around without having to worry about boat traffic. The dock has a great rope swing for kids and kids-at-heart.

Happy Oars offers 3200 square feet of living space including Large TV's, Cable and unlimited Wifi, Bluray DVD Players, XBox 360 Kinect, a movie library, pool table, ping pong table and air hockey table all included!

Main level includes:

Master bedroom - king bed, large walk-in closet and a private bath. Master also offers access to upper deck.

1 Queen bedrooms and office with a queen bed that share a full bathroom.

Large living area with lots of seating and floor to ceiling windows/doors that provide spectacular lake views. Living area seats.

Fully equipped kitchen with updated appliances (2024) with everything you will need for your vacation: microwave, coffee makers, coffee grinder, 1 Cup Keurig, toaster, toaster oven, blender, dishes, glassware, bakeware, crockpot and much much more! Kitchen also includes a large pantry for food storage.

Indoor dining room seats 8 and eat in kitchen seats 4. Outdoor table seats 6.

2 deck areas with seating to sit and enjoy the magnificent views!

2 car garage with extra refrigerator.

Lower level:

Large living space with Nautical themed custom bar area, large sectional, 48 inch LCD HDTV with BlueRay/DVD player and XBox Kinect system with games, board games and puzzles. Bar has 4 stools, accent lighting and a sink. A highlight of Happy Oars!

Recreation room with an air hockey table, ping pong table and pool table.

Large bunk room with 2 twin over full bunks. Built in window seat and cabinets make for a great place to store all of your kid accessories. Your kids will LOVE this room. TV and DVD player.

Office with king bed offers walk out entrance.

Full bathroom.

Dock features parking for 2 boats as well as jet ski parking slot. 2 Paddleboards, 2 kayaks and life vests are available. Rope swing and 4 hammock swings (just added!!)

Fun Time

We enjoyed our 2 week stay. House was well stocked and comfortable, dock area was great. Owners were were responsive when needed. Quite a few stairs to get to the dock but that also meant the water depth at the end of the dock was 8+ feet. Water was the clearest we have ever seen in 20+ years of coming to SML.

Long weekend at the lake

We had a great time. 3 nights with 3 couples in our 60's. The house is beautiful, it looks like a new renovation. We had everything we needed. Rented a boat from Mitchells for 2 days and the lake and weather was perfect. We plan to visit again. Thank you.

Graduation getaway

We stayed here for our graduation from Liberty University. The lake front was great for our age range since it was in a cove. So minimal traffic came by and zero actually came into the cove. This area was not particularly deep so it isn't as concerning for those that arent comfortable swimming in a lake, but it was plenty deep to swim and enjoy. The house was clean and well equipped. We needed nothing. Communication was easy and the owners were quick to respond. Great stay!

Great week with the boat on the SML

Really enjoyed our stay!! Angie was super responsive and one of the best hosts we've encountered!! The house was clean, comfortable, and had everything we needed and more. The neighborhood was quiet and very relaxing!

Perfect for our stay

the home is lovely and we plan on coming back in the future. The room arrangement worked very well for us. Our only negative was that there was dog (or other large animal) waste in the front yard so it was unusable by our children. The kitchen was very well stocked except we could have used a cutting board of some kind. Everything else was perfect.

Angie & Christopher bought Happy Oars in Summer 2014 as a family retreat and rental property to share with others who enjoy Smith Mountain Lake. We currently reside in Crozet, VA where Christopher is homebuilder (Bramante Homes) and Angie is a freelance retail analyst. We love being able to take weekend trips down to the lake to enjoy all that the area has to offer and spend time with family and friends.

We have vacationed on SML for years and have come to realize that 5 bedroom homes are a challenge to find. Our house hunt was all over the place, but this home met all necessities for a multi family lake vacation. We love that the lot and cove are private so that we can enjoy lots of dock time and floating around the lake, yet open water is a short idle away before opening up the throttle.

We first fell in love with the view from the living room and upper deck. Having morning coffee while looking at the views is the best! The moment I walked out onto the back deck, I knew this was 'home.' The rope swing is a hidden treasure. We had no idea how much fun the kids (and adults) would have on it for hours on end...
