Our cabin has been operating since 2005. It is a one level ranch home that was completely remodeled in 2009 and is for those who enjoy the outdoors and related sports activities. The cabin is purposefully set up to unplug and get away from our hectic modern life. Basic Wi Fi 25 bps and electronics are provided but it is not our focus. It is a well maintained, air conditioned home roughly 5 mins north of Buckhorn Bridge and beautiful Buckhorn State Park on a very wooded lot that has a large clearing in back to play or relax by the fire. Well behaved dogs are welcome. Our yard is not fenced. The convenient rural location is roughly 5 miles or less from a convenience store, restaurant with indoor/outdoor dining, state park, swimming beaches and boat landings. 2 bedrooms (1 Queen bed and the other has 2 twin beds). Sunroom has full size futon. Wood burning stove. The cabin sits back from the road and neighboring homes in the center of 1.5 nicely wooded acres. It is not visible from the road.
Kitchen has full sized appliances and is stocked with cooking utensils, pots, pans, bakeware, double oven, dishes, toaster, blender, stand mixer, knife block, lots of glassware and measuring spoons and cups. There are many herbs and spices, sugar, salts, peppers, coffee creamer and sugar substitutes like Stevia. No dishwasher or laundry.
Living room with sofa, Sony Bravia 32' LCD TV, DVD/VHS player with two easy chairs, and wood burning stove. Firewood is provided all season. Good selection of DVD movies and some VHS. It has a sofa and upholstered rocker, side chair and ottoman. Outfitted with ceiling fan.
Our sunroom with it's knotty pine vaulted ceiling and walls has lots of windows that open to enjoy wooded view, sounds of nature and the evening breezes. There is an oak beer barrel game table with 4 matching swivel chairs. Several books, puzzles and games to choose from. There is a ceiling fan and radio.
1 bath with shower. We normally have sealed hotel size shampoo, conditioner and bar soap under the bathroom sink in case guests forget to bring theirs. Towels not provided.
Large private wooded lot with fire pit (firewood provided). Horse shoe pit, heavy duty charcoal park style grill, (charcoal etc provided).
Cabin is surrounded by woods and feels secluded but yet it's close enough to run out for things you need. Buckhorn State Park, Buckhorn Grill and Bar, Buckhorn Store, Buckhorn Bridge and several different styles of boat launches as well as beaches are all within 5 minutes of our cabin.
Great place to reconnect with your family and friends in a setting that feels like home. Even family pets will feel like they have had a vacation! If you or your family relies heavily on Wi Fi internet, data sharing and movie streaming we are not likely the best fit.
There are several access points to Castle Rock Lake, many boat landings and swimming beaches. Local rural convenient store selling many grocery items, serves freshly made pizzas, packages liquor, fishing licenses and gas. Buckhorn Grill and Bar is a casual dining restaurant that has good food and service. Dining is available inside and out with lots of parking, play area and fire pits. They have a wonderful Sunday barbeque. Pontoons can be rented near Shipwreck Bay. Take Rt 58 to Cty Rd G 2 in New Lisbon (across from the the BP station) head east about 2 miles and you will see the sign for Shipwreck bay on the left. Follow ths road all the way to Shipwreck Bay.
Our cabin is on County Rd G near both the Buckhorn State Park and Buckhorn Bridge which is on on Castle Rock Lake. All of this is within a five minute rural drive from the cabin.
Wisconsin Dells and a large shopping outlet are just about 30 minutes south on I-90. Festival Foods, a full service grocer on Rt 58, is in Mauston roughly 20 mins away and the Necedah Kwik Trip on Rt 21 has many yummy prepared foods at a reasonable price. Their 13” take and bake pizzas (also precooked) are very good and inexpensive especially Thursdays and Fridays. It is well stocked with basic items such as drinks, grocery, dairy and bakery goods.
Red Hen Antiques is north of the cabin on Rt 58 in Necedah and well worth the trip. The town also has a Cafe and a river bar and grill. Downtown Baraboo has many antiques and specialty shops. The Broadway Diner (a restored 50’s gleaming metal clad diner) has good food. The Buckhorn Grill and 5 minutes from the cabin also has great food.
Our cabin is best suited for 4 to 5 people but we can allow a few more if the need arises. We hope to see you soon.
