3 Quartos, 3. 5 banheiros, Ohana quarto que acomoda um adicional de 5 pessoas

vista para o mar, de 2300 pés quadrados de espaço de vida bonita, localizada em Kona Paraíso, apenas suficientemente longe da agitação da cidade e uma excelente localização para explorar toda a ilha. Já não temos uma banheira de hidromassagem.

Três belos quartos, cada um com uma cama queen-size e uma casa de banho completa em anexo. Dois dos quartos têm as suas próprias varandas privadas, cada um com uma mesa de bistrô e cadeiras, com vista para o brilhante azul do Oceano Pacífico.

Há também uma enorme va fora da sala de estar principal, onde você pode relaxar e apreciar o pôr do sol eo som do oceano!

We had a very comfortable stay at Guava House. The owner and caretaker were quick to respond.

The view was fantastic, the nights were peaceful and quiet. The house was spacious and well equipped. We enjoyed all aspects of the island. The owners and caretaker were very quick to respond to a pump problem. Fixed within 24 hours.

We enjoyed the unusual beach at the bottom of the hill. (Pebble Beach)

It was a perfect location and House for our family. We stayed a month and got to play at the ocean and beach and see many places. We really appreciated the sunbrellas, beach chairs and swim fins. Bring your own snorkel mask. It is hard to leave and hope to come again.

Home Away from Home

Totally loved our fourth stay at Hale Kumu Kai. New landscaping and shrubbery, including the orchids on the lanai, set the tone for changes made throughout the property. The fresh coat of paint in the interior and new hardwood flooring on the stairs and second floor landing give the house a more intimate feel. The new decorations in the kitchen added some freshness to the space above the cabinets. Absolutely loved the small touches that keep the house bright and cheery. The lanai provided a comfortable outdoor space for hours of entertainment, from taking in the views while enjoying a morning cup of coffee, to watching the geckos in the evenings. Returning to Hale Kumu Kai was like seeing an old friend after a long separation. A huge thank you to Tina for allowing us to enjoy your house for another year. We hope to make it back to the Big Island and Hale Kumu Kai for another memorable vacation.

OWNERS VINDICTIVE IF DEPARTURE IS NOT IDEAL.

The house is mostly as is depicted in the website. Well maintained and well equipped. However our departure was problematic and the owners have held a grudge by placing a vindictive Guest Rating (one out of five stars) against my Home Away profile. My attempt to contact the owners, to discuss this, was ignored. I acknowledge that we messed up the departure date and scrambled to exit the house on the last day. We apologized repeatedly, assisted with cleanup, dishes etc. and this was acknowledged by the caretaking crew who stated that we were “leaving the house cleaner than other guests”. We provided a cash bonus directly to the caretakers for their additional efforts. And, I fully accept the additional amount of money, withheld from the security deposit, “for additional compensation for the caretakers”. HOWEVER, the owners seem to also blame us for “excessive water consumption” and the costs incurred to refill their holding tank. We did not indulge in water, in fact several of us with access to beach showers, did not even use the house showers. Despite their comments about water conservation, the house is NOT equipped with water saving faucets, nor low volume flush toilets, and the kitchen sink holds about 4.0 US gallons (15 ltr) if filled only 2” (5 cm) deep. We also failed to notify the owners (yes, in contravention of the original contract) that our guest list had expanded from the original seven to eight adults. This is merely a technicality since the house lists a “maximum occupancy of 11” and “sleeps 11”. The house is billed at a flat rate. There isn’t any change in rental rate for 1 to 11 guests. Nonetheless, we were threatened with a charge for the eighth guest of $20/night for 13 days. Furthermore, the handle on the well used and worn dishwasher broke while we were there. Not a problem, the caretaker’s response was extremely swift, and they did a commendable job of trying to repair it ASAP. HOWEVER, again the owners blamed us for this failure, and originally stated that the deposit holdback was to compensate for this perceived abuse. Now, I doubt that the Home Away site will allow me to rebut whatever response the owners provide to this. There were no other issues raised by the owners in any of our correspondence, so if they choose to dump additional accusations in their response you should question their legitimacy and integrity. You’ll have to trust that I have the email documentation, and seven other witnesses, to substantiate my statements.

You became very belligerent with the fact that I would be keeping $100.00 dollars of your security deposit for the broken dishwasher handle . excessive use of water ( Three truckloads delivered during your stay) 1 additional guest that wasn't part of your original contract. late departure as you believed and told my caretaker you were not departing until the following day which delayed her preparation of the home for the guests arriving at 1500 hrs. This action by you also caused me to offer a discount to the arriving guests as they were unable to occupy the home at their contracted arrival time, as the caretaker was unable to clean the home in time due to your late departure. We offer this beautiful home at a very reasonable price and continually strive to keep it in excellent condition. We are not a large corporation This is our personal home . Regretfully in nearly 6 years you are the first guest that was charged additional money from their security deposit. We love our little piece of paradise and love to share it with everyone and we feel we have the utmost integrity and morals.

Home filled with love for the whole family wit beautiful scenic views of the ocean & island.

My family enjoyed their stay at the house. Waking up each morning to the roar of the ocean, birds chirping, and friendly geckos coming by to say "hello" on the deck while drinking Kona coffee. The home has all the comforts one could hope for for an island get away.

Pebble beach was just down the hill & just a blast for the whole family. It was peaceful, quiet, with not much traffic. Hookena beach (state park) was great as well, yet the family preferred the beach down the street.

Royal Kona Resort Luau was the best with history and authentic dancing.

It was the best trip and we will be returning again soon. Mahalo & Aloha 💙

Just what our family needed

Hale Kumu Kai was a great fit for a gathering of our whole family crew over the Christmas holidays - we are an active hiking/exploring/history/boogieboarding family and we also LOVE to cook fresh meals to we knew ritzy hotels were not our bag. The home had plenty of space and the location was "real island" that made us feel more like residents than tourists. Our crew was less inclined to drive back up through Kalua-Kona for the fancy beaches but for groups headed that way it is a solid drive - winding roads make for slow going in HI. We were happy to go south to Volcano NP, South Point, Hilo and even the Saddle Road - you get a feel quickly for when traffic will peak and how to just take it slow... We loved the lanai views and ocean breezes - be sure to pull the shades to keep sun from heating up the home during the day but overall the fans-only "AC" system worked fine to keep things comfy. Kitchen was spacious, well-appointed, and able to contain our busy cooks. The 6- and 11-year old girls loved being in the main floor den/ bedroom/utility room area for their own space to spread out and having full laundry in there was a key feature. Steep drive/road made for an easy exercise plan, though the road was slick on a rainy morning. The grade could be challenging for some but it kept the traffic down to the extent that we had several very quiet or fully private sessions the black pebble beach at the bottom. Sightings of dolphins on the last day may insure our return!
