Christine thank you, your home was absolutely perfect for our group. Great set up with upstairs/downstairs. Kids loved the loft, the karoake machine, and watching the turkeys from your deck! Couldn't have been easier, thank you for hosting us!

Nice Home Close to Ferry/Downtown Tisbury

Owner was extremely helpful and communicated often before and during stay. Quickly resolved issues at the home (e.g. broken screen, stopped up toilet). Lots of space for 9 girlfriends for our summer vacation. There is no air conditioning in this home, but each room has table fans which helped a lot. The lower level shows its age more so than the rest of the house. Noticeable that pets are allowed as the house was somewhat dusty with visible pet fur/dander. Could not get the fridge ice-maker to work and the fridge leaked a little but not a big issue. Very quiet neighborhood with nice deck for evening drinks and socializing.

Cons

Overall the property is not well maintained. During the week that our party (6 adults, 5 kids) stayed, we noted the following:

1. There is no functional exterior lighting. There is a broken light fixture outside. The owner told us a repairman would come by to fix it, but no one came.

2. Mosquito ridden – the number of mosquitos inside and outside of the property due to the broken screen window, and the unkempt landscaping, respectively, is unbearable. Our party included 6 adults and 5 children, all of who were bitten repeatedly inside and outside of the house. We resorted to buying a citronella candle to light inside of the house.

3. There a huge hole in the hammock outside rendering it unsafe and unusable.

4. The refrigerator leaks and the icemaker didn’t work. Note, that the owner stated this was repaired in a prior review; however, this wasn’t the case.

5. The house does not have air conditioning or central air. The heat is unbearable at night. There are fans in some rooms, but they are extremely dusty and not good for inhalation.

6. The basement is damp and smells musty.

7. There was an insufficient amount of towels/linens provided for the number of people the property claims to be able to accommodate.

8. The property did not appear to be cleaned prior to our arrival (e.g., wet clothes left in the washing machine and dryer) In addition, the amount of dust on the baseboard, and nonfunctioning surround sound speakers suggest that the property had not been properly cleaned in a while.

9. One of the steps leading up to the main entrance is damaged and can cause an injury if you're not aware of it.

10. On one occasion, an unknown person came by and opened the shed to return an item to the owner. The owner gave us no prior knowledge of this and it was alarming to see a stranger enter the shed during our stay.

Resposta do proprietário: 1. Light fixed 2. Mosquitos - It was very hot during your stay and I believe you broke the de-humidifier which would make it even more muggy. Typically never any mosquitos, but it was a heat wave and you broke the dehumidifier. Its been fixed. 3. New Hammock 4. Crain's came out to fix again - need to see if it was fixed. 5. Never said I had AC, but a new AC unit arrived today. 6. Fixed the dehumidifier that you broke. 7. There are tons of linens and just bought 10 new bath towels. 8. Fixed. 9. The small piece of wood splintered off the step does not look harmful in my opinion, but I’ll check it again. Thanks. 10. The bike the past renter had is in the shed. ALL FIXED.

Resposta do proprietário: I wanted to address your comments about the home. 1. Broken light - When I asked if it was up or down stairs and that a repairman would come by, you said you’d look for a light bulb to replace it yourself. I advised that the extra lightbulbs are in the shed to the left. I didn’t hear anything else on that matter, so I didn’t have my repairman go over. 2. Mosquitos - This is very alarming since I’ve never seen a mosquito in the house. It was very hot during your stay and I believe you broke the de-humidifier which would make it even more muggy. Sticky counters, kids leaving the doors open, muggy conditions all contribute to bugs. The lawn was cut before your stay, so I’m not sure what is unkempt landscaping, unless you’re talking about ground cover to side of the driveway. I’m sorry you had to “resort” to buying a candle. 3. A renter broke through the hammock and mended it. I was able to sit in it with no problem, so figured others could do the same. A hammock is a nice-to-have, not listed in the rental. I’ll take it down. 4. This is true. Crain’s appliance has come out to “fix” this now 3 times to no avail. Will replace it. 5. The house doesn’t have AC, not is AC listed. There are enough fans for every room. If they were dusty, I apologize and will have the cleaners add this to their routine. 6. The 1st floor typically is not musty. You cleaned the air filter to the dehumidifier and after that, it didn’t work after months of operating 24/7 with no problems. 7. This is simply NOT true. There’s an abundance of beach towels, bed linens and bath towels unless you don’t expect to launder towels. 8. Wet clothes in the dryer - I try to accommodate ferry schedules with check-in/check-out times, which left the cleaners with less time to finish the laundry. On the dust on the surround sound speakers and baseboards, I’ve added this to the cleaners’ regular schedule. Plus I will be on island in a week to give it a thorough cleaning. 9. The small piece of wood splintered off the step does not look harmful in my opinion, but I’ll check it again. Thanks. 10. A past renter was returning a bike to the shed for renters to use. She came during daylight and didn’t knock on the house door as to not bother you. I apologize if this was alarming. I wish you had brought these concerns to me personally and during your stay. You were nothing but nice and worry free. I wish you were this forthcoming during your stay and it all would have been addressed. Than

We had great time at MV. The house is perfect for 10 of us. Christine is a very nice landlord. She answers question very quick. she tried hard to make our stay smooth and wonderful. I would defiantly go backs.

Comfortable & convenient

Our group of 6 adults (3 couples) stayed for a long weekend and found it very comfortable. The location is good, reasonably convenient to town on foot and very easy if you have a car. The house is clearly a family home, with a little more personality and style than the typical rental. Clearly still in the process of being fixed up, so a little rough around the edges, but only cosmetic things. Well equipped kitchen. Seemed like it would be a great place for a group with both adults & kids as there are 2 completely separate living areas, and bedrooms on 2 floors. Owner is very responsive.
