Newly renovated cottage with 4 bedrooms. Two bathrooms and laundry. Living dining areas with bamboo floors. Unique custom furniture. Phone, cable TV, and wireless high speed internet included.
There is a large deck attached to the rear of the house. Half is open for loads of sunshine and half is covered and screened for solid comfort. Early breakfasts or sunset dinners are to be enjoyed in the screened porch. Gas grill is supplied.
Large back yard with fire pit (firewood provided) that backs up to twenty-five acres of Maine woods. A short walk through the woods takes you down to the tidal stream and countless adventures. Down the road and across brings you to Morse's cove, and the Penobscot river. The Webster family ran schooners and fishing boats from here in the late 1800's. The old boat house is now the family cabin.
Castine and the surrounding area is steeped in history. The village is a perfect New England village featuring a working harbor, a restored lighthouse, a natural history museum, the oldest continually running post office in the country, along with countless other attractions.
From fine dining to the best Lobster rolls around, you can find it all in the village. From sailing in the bay to laying on Back Shore Beach, and visiting the many revolutionary forts, you will find plenty to keep you busy.
Mount Desert Island is only an hour away and the beauty of Acadia National Park and the honky-tonk village of Bar Harbor and all the tourist shopping you will ever want.
A little closer -- and in a world all their own -- are Deer Isle and the beautiful village of Stonington. Just off shore is Isle au Haute, and another section of Acadia National Park. It is accessible only by Mail boat twice each day.
The Honeymoon Cottage is a great centrally-located spot to venture from and, just as important, a great place to rest and relax in and around nature!
