I was told the elevator was being worked on but not about railing repair. It cut the parking by 1/3 and closed the pool for the first 4 days of our stay. The condo was fine but the construction with the loud banging and little parking was frustrating.
I've stayed in many units at Lahaina Roads and all have been great. This unit has tons of character! Loved it! Quiet little bldg right on the water. We slept in the living room to listen to the waves at night. Walking distance to baby beach and Cannery Mall. Can't wait to go back!
I would not stay in this unit again. We have stayed in various Lahaina Roads units over the past 5 years and have always been more than satisfied with the property and the units until this year. Shortly after arriving we noticed unopen food packages had holes in them. We thought it may be mice and contacted the management company. They came and set out traps. After hearing noises in the middle of the night we found holes where "something" had chewed the AC lines and could gain access into the unit. Again we called the management company and they foamed the holes. The next evening we again heard chewing and activity in the living room/kitchen area. I inspected and saw an 8"+ rat, not including the tail, run underneath the oven. We immediately vacated the unit. We were reimbursed for the unused nights but are very disappointed in this unit. When the maintenance individual came to foam the hole he stated that it appeared to be a pretty good sized animal getting into the unit. At that point more effort should have been taken to trap or catch the rat as I believe he was pretty sure that it was more than just mice. We will probably stay at Lahaina Roads again but certainly not in this unit. We stay in hotels/condos at least 60 nites per year and have NEVER felt the need to ask for a room change or vacate a property until this particular time.
The unit was clean, but there were ants, tiny ants everywhere. The central A/C was not working, so they put loud portable A/C units in the bedroom - very loud and annoying, but needed. The living room where my son slept had no A/C. I felt the price was too high for what we were given. Bedrooms had no privacy - the shades were see through, same with the bathroom, glass doors with bamboo shades that revealed all to anyone walking down the hall.
To their credit - there was a mid week cleaning where some ladies came in and stocked the towels and consumables. We left some spirits for the next visitor!
I would definitely stay at this place again. It really is as beautiful as the pictures. It has everything you need from salt and pepper to pots and pans in the kitchen. It even has beach towels and beach chairs for you to use out in the sand. My favorite thing to do while staying there was to enjoy my coffee out on the lanai every morning and watch the turtles...there are TONS of turtles feeding off that reef every morning.
This condo definitely has all the Maui charm. The only thing I would have changed is more privacy on the doors. The bathroom door is slatted and you can definitely see through to someone sitting on the toilet. We had to hang towels on the back of the door to give us a little privacy. Also the master bedroom doors are see through....definitely no action happening in that bed while the kids are up!
My husband, son and I stayed here during spring break. The view is AMAZING from the Lanai/main room of the condo. Great view of sunset along with beautiful views all day. Literally feet from the water. Furniture is nice and kitchen has all the essentials. The master bedroom is very small and has a queen bed. There is very little space between the bed and walls/furniture/closet. It might be very uncomfortable if you are a larger person than average. The second bedroom has 2 twin beds, which allows for a little more room to move in the small room. The closets are huge. There is a nice washer and dryer. The bathroom is very nicely done with attractive tile and glass blocks. There is no large dining/breakfast table, but there are bar stools at the kitchen counter and a table on the lanai. There was a TV, but we never used it. The condo is close enough to walk to town if you so desired. It is kind of a long walk, but it was nice to avoid the frustration of finding a parking place. The pool was quite nice and was right by the ocean. The condos were quiet and clean. Our only real complaint is the parking spaces for persons staying at Lahaina Roads. The parking is under the condos and the spaces are straight and VERY thin. People have to get out of the car to help navigate driver into spot. It is also necessary to get out of the car before you park because the cars are too close together to open your car door enough to get out! We were very lucky to be thin enough to park and get out of the car. One poor man hit a cement support wall with his rent car trying to park his first night there. We loved the condo and would stay there again, but the parking is a very real problem. We couldn't get enough of the view from the lanai! Hope to go back soon.
