We recently rented this house for a long weekend ski trip for 8 people (4 couples). This house was a great fit for us. The 4 bedrooms offered plenty of space, and the fact that all the bedrooms are spread out over 5 floors eliminates the feeling that you are all on top of each other.
A quick summary about each floor:
Basement/Underground level: Theatre Room, bathroom, laundry room
Ground & Garage Level/Level 1: Bedroom with attached bath
Level 2: Kitchen, living area, access to hot tub
Level 3: 2 Bedrooms both with attached baths
Level 4: Bedroom with attached bath
The second floor living area is great. The kitchen is open into the family room, so everyone could still be social while meals were being prepared. The large dining table was great for our big group dinners, and the island bar was used each morning for breakfast and coffee. The kitchen is very well appointed with Viking appliances and granite counters. This level of the house also gives access to the private hot tub out back. We used this each day, and it was great. The one negative about the hot tub is that it is very close to surrounding houses. We were lucky not to see anyone while we were there, but that may not always be the case.
The theatre room on the very bottom floor is a nice little getaway...we used it a couple times to watch tv and relax.
Each bedroom was well equipped with plenty of linens, and all the bathrooms were great.
Wyndham has also done a great job about posting notices and directions throughout the house. All the TVs had operating instructions, which seems simple but can come in handy. There is also an info sheet on the fridge with important phone numbers, addresses, and wifi info.
But the best part of this house is the location. It is a 1-2 minute walk to the town lift, and an even shorter walk at the end of the day, with the Quit-N-Time run veering off to the right down to Park Ave. We also rented equipment from Utah Ski and Golf, which is directly across the street from the house. So convenient!
There were a couple items that could be improved on though. Below is what kept me from giving this house 5 stars:
-The shower door in the master bathroom does not stay closed.
-The elevator does not work. I don't think VRBO specifically advertised the elevator, but other sites did. It would have made the trips from level 1-5 much easier after skiing
-Ski storage space is limited. A boot & glove warmer/dryer would be nice
I’d hesitate a long time before returning to this house, or any house managed by Wyndham.
The house itself is beautiful, spacious, nicely located. But you’re not spending all this money just for the house… it’s the process of getting in and enjoying it as well.
Some of the real issues you might have to deal with (we did) in engaging with Wyndham, the company that manages the property:
If you call before you arrive, you’ll be disconnected a few times, talk to people who speak English poorly (they had just started in the US, from France in one case) and who certainly don’t have the customer service posture you’d expect from a hotel at a similar price range.
They misplaced the snowboard we shipped ahead of time, but when prodded, found it and brought it to us.
When we arrived to check in at 4 pm, the house wasn’t ready yet. The couldn’t have been less gracious about it.
When we arrived, the Wifi didn’t work (they had to send a tech) and the disposal breaker had been tripped. (Careful with the disposal--the button to turn it on stays on, and it’s very quiet, so it’s super easy to put your hand down the sink if it’s apparently not working. I almost lost two fingers...).
There’s no fan or vent over the stove. Cooking hamburgers the first night tripped the (very loud) fire alarm. We called their office (phone tree again) and were told to sit tight. They never called the fire department about the false alarm, and so, after many minutes of wailing, the firemen showed up.
It took more than 45 minutes for the alarm to be finally turned off, because Wyndham didn’t know the code. They blamed the owner for not telling them. No one from Wyndham reached out to us about, say, heading off to a local restaurant or even apologizing.
The list goes on. As I write this on our second-to-last day, there’s no heat or hot water in the unit. I called it in 90 minutes ago (got disconnected twice in the phone tree). They sent their rep, but he doesn’t know how to fix boilers, explaining that the owner has a different HOA… (But the plumber who finally did show up was awesome, and gave up part of his new year's eve to fix it... and he doesn't work for them.)
There are better, easier, more fun places to stay. If the owners change the management company, I might reconsider.
