This was our second trip to Grand Cayman, and our second stay at The Retreat at Rum Point! This condo was exactly what we wanted! Extremely spacious for the 4 of us to stay comfortably. The extra half bath came in handy! Plenty of towels, snorkeling gear, floats, etc. The kitchen had everything we needed, but we didn't cook often. Location is perfect as we walked to the Wreck Bar and Grill for lunches, and took advantage of the Red Sail next door. We highly recommend the Stingray City tour, the jet ski tours, and the paddleboarding. Snorkeling right outside the condo door was some of the best on the island! The beach is literally steps away, and we snorkeled almost daily. We were lucky to see conch, lobster, stingrays, and too many colorful fish to name!
The bedrooms are perfect, as we had a king bed in one room and two twins in the other. Both full baths are great, and roomy. Closets and drawers were great for unpacking and really enjoying our stay. Ocean views from every room! We also enjoyed the screened in porch during the thunderstorm that occurred while we were there. Couch in the living room pulls out into a sleeper if you needed more sleeping space. We didn't spend much time indoors, but the kitchen, dining area, and living room had plenty of room for us. We appreciated all of the information that was left in the condo about restaurants, things to do, and history of the island. Also plenty of books on the shelves for reading on the beach. Ice machine kept up with us all week, and we took advantage of the coolers in the hall closet to bring drinks when enjoying the beach.
We will definitely be back to this condo at The Retreat. Our stay could not have been more perfect!
Where do I begin! We stayed for 9 nights at The Retreat at Rum Point Unit #23!
Thank you, Katrina and Matt for putting together a wonderful and accurate website for your condo. It was absolutely everything that it showed. The beds were very comfortable which doesn't always happen! The kitchen was organized and well put together.
Our place was clean inside and out. Fresh water was already poured in the basin out in front of the lanai door to dip our feet in from our first run out to the beach. The beach is right there. The grounds are immaculate. We could tell whoever oversees the property loves the land as it is cared for with much love and attention.
If anyone is worried about less of a view because of it being a ground floor...No worries! You still have a view. TV's are in all the rooms. I would add that to your website as it is a plus. Personally, I could care less about television while there, but kids enjoy it falling asleep at night.
This was our first time to Grand Cayman. We came with our 13 year old son and my husband's mom. They bunked together in the guest room, but pushed the twins together for a king size bed.
We loved the dock at night watching the fish in the clear water with flashlights and the lights already posted. We enjoyed staying on the quiet side of Cayman. Prices are lower eating out, because they must depend on the business for that side of the island rather than all the cruise ships coming in.
The blow holes were spectacular and fun providing the opportunity to see a lot of wild life washed ashore in the tide. Kayaking at night over to the bioluminescent bay was awesome! One must rent a car when staying on that side if you want to go anywhere. Driving on the wrong side of the road is fun and an adventure. It's a blast driving and rather than missing potholes, you're missing iguanas, land crabs, roosters, and hens. Hilarious!
The People of Cayman... FRIENDLY!!! Even when they are not trying for your business.
Sea Trek was worth it and swimming with Lucy, The Dolphin in Dolphin Cove was unforgettable. Snorkeling in your front yard at The Retreat made us feel like we were in an aquarium every day. Just amazing!
Katrina was so KIND to work with!!! She was patient in answering our questions! God willing, we will be back to Cayman and hopefully only staying at their Retreat, Unit #23.
Now that I've written a great review....I hope it will be available next year!

This condo was so nice and what a perfect location!! If snorkeling and tranquility are your goals, this is perfect. We spent many hours snorkeling the amazing waters directly in front of the condo out by the reef. The view from the condo is gorgeous! Especially the master bedroom with two walls of windows. The condo entrance is so private and that makes it a serene location. Rum Point was perfect for our family. We spent 3 of our 10 days seeing all the other parts of the island, and though all have their own beauty, we are so glad we chose this location. The condo owners were extremely responsive to all my inquiries and questions. From where to snorkel, to what to bring, and what to buy (supplies for condo). The kitchen is well furnished. We ate in most of the time. But we did try the restaurant recommendations from the owners and they were right on. The property managers in site were also helpful. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again!! I hope we get the chance.
The Retreat was so peaceful. The pictures are accurate, but simply do not do justice to the views. The beach had some of the best snorkeling on the island. The owners were super kind / helpful prior to and during our stay. I would highly recommend staying here. Our vacation stay was perfect!
I just returned from Cayman Islands and the fabulous Retreat at Rum Point with my son and brother and sister-in-law. What an unforgettable week we had at the perfect getaway. I had never visited Cayman Islands before but it was all the pictures depict and so much more especially when it came to our fabulous accommodations at the Retreat. There couldn't have been a more perfect location for us right on the point and next door to the dock, grill and some of the best snorkeling around. We would literally walk out the back door and be snorkeling in less than 60 seconds. The retreat was bright and clean and had everything we needed with tons of water toys, even a grill outside the door for the fish we caught on the reef. Plenty of TVs for those who like them and the wifi is great for checking out things around the island after a day of adventures! The owners, Katrina and Matt, were super responsive and very concerned that we had everything we needed or wanted. We cooked almost every day because we loved hanging out at our retreat, but ate out at some wonderful restaurants for lunch and dinner occasionally. Fruity frozen drinks and mudslides are right next door if you need them. It was not crowded at all and easy to navigate from the first moment you arrive. The management office personnel was helpful as well. We snorkeled every day following the detailed directions from the owners, fished, visited stingray city and even enjoyed the bioluminescence kayak tour they suggested. I highly recommend visiting Rum Point and enjoying the comfortable bedrooms, quiet resort, the wonderful morning sunrise walks down the private beaches and sunset happy hours on your lanai.
We recently returned from our first trip to Grand Cayman, including five days at The Retreat #23. Rum Point is a great location for a family vacation and The Retreat #23 was outstanding for our family of five. Matt and Katrina were extremely responsive and very helpful, providing a quick response to our inquiry to confirm pricing and available dates, providing clear and detailed directions to The Retreat, sharing recommendations for restaurants, groceries, snorkeling spots, etc., and assuring that we had everything we needed for a relaxing and enjoyable vacation. #23 is just a few steps from a beautiful beach and very good snorkeling. We saw a large stingray, a few small barracuda, lots of blue tang, and a variety of other fish - all just a short swim away from the screened-in back porch. #23 was very clean and comfortable for us, with a nice kitchen, washer/dryer (allowing us to travel light), pool floats, some snorkeling equipment and beach toys. We've stayed at several VRBO rentals over the past few years and between the location and the overall condition of the rental unit, #23 at The Retreat is easily one of the best we've experienced. The Retreat also has a nice small pool, a tennis court, and friendly staff in the office. The beach was never crowded (end of June) and there were plenty of beach chairs available. It is adjacent to a popular beach, with a beach bar, two very good restaurants, gift shop and a dive/watersports shop (Red Sail). Although the public side got a little crowded occasionally, when boat tours arrived at the dock (apparently from cruise ships in port), the crowds generally stayed on the other side of the dock. There are a number of excellent snorkeling spots on the north side of Grand Cayman, within a decent walk or short drive of The Retreat, along with starfish beach. We also did a boat trip with Red Sail to Stingray City for a truly incredible and memorable experience. In addition to the bar and restaurants at Rum Point, there are also several good restaurants a short drive away, including: Kaibo (another beachside bar/restaurant, with a live band and island bbq one evening); Kurt's Corner (excellent local place) and Over The Edge. We also ventured to the East End in search of groceries and enjoyed lunch at Mimi's (including a guest appearance by a nurse shark cruising near the dock) and great dinner at Bamboo Chopsticks. Thanks to Matt and Katrina for a great family vacation! We hope to return soon.
