Look for the “Loons Nest” network, connect to it and enter the password: gonefishing SEPTIC SYSTEM: For those of you not used to lake septic systems, we request that you follow this simple rule – PUT NOTHING IN THE SEPTIC SYSTEM THAT YOU HAVEN’T EATEN FIRST (toilet paper is OK), AND ONLY WATER DOWN THE KITCHEN SINK PLEASE. This is very important since the septic system is not far from the lake. VERMONT CASTINGS GAS STOVE: There is a switch on the right side back of the unit. If you need heat, just turn it on; be sure to turn it off once the cottage reaches the desired temperature. SWIM FLOAT: is shared with the adjacent cottages, PLEASE USE CAUTION absolutely no diving due to shallow water. KAYAKS: You will find life jackets and paddles in the shed near the driveway. Please be sure you are experienced with kayaks, and wear life jackets before setting out. Pull the kayaks all the way out of the water upon your return so they do not float away as you are responsible for them. LANDSCAPING: We try to mow the lawn on weekends, but if the weather doesn’t cooperate, we may need to come during the week, and will try to disturb you as little as possible. GARBAGE: Please bag, and place your garbage in the dumpster provided on the lot diagonally across the street, or you may have late night visitors. The dumpster is emptied on Fridays, so please don’t park in front of it. BOTTLES & CANS: They are recyclable/returnable in Maine TOWELS: towels and washcloths are located in the bathroom cabinet. Beach towels are also here, and the bedrooms have towel hooks. Please do not change or disconnect the TV cables or settings. FIRE EXTINGUISHER: Located on the wall in the kitchen. The kitchen range is propane gas, so please be certain that you turn on the exhaust fan in the microwave when it’s used, and the burners & oven are turned off after each use. We have smoke detectors and a carbon monoxide detector for your protection. FISHING: is very good, the lake has Salmon, Lake Trout and Bass, although you need to have a Maine fishing license, available on-line at http://www.maine.gov/ifw/licenses_permits/fishing.htm BOAT RENTALS: are available at Port Harbor Marine on route 1A in Holden, or Jenkins Beach on the Green Lake Road in Dedham. Very clean and quiet get away!!
We were overall very happy with our stay. The cabin was very nice, and clean!! Everything you could need was provided except the paper products like the owners said. The property was just as expected. If I had to make a recommendation, I would say that the mattresses just need to be updated!! other than that an amazing week and would recommend it to anyone!!
Thank you for a relaxing week!!
A Wonderful home with water toys.
We had a wonderful experience staying at the cottage. The home is newly updated which felt peaceful.
This is an FYI for the home owner, the blue bedroom has something on the ceiling that looked like mold spots, I don’t know for sure.
I enjoyed sitting by the fireplace in the mornings with a cup of coffee, it was a great way to warm up during the cool mornings.
We enjoyed being right on the pond & being able to walk in to the water vs jumping in (is a must have with younger kids).
Thank you for sharing your home with us.
The location is everything it is stated to be, no small feat finding some sandy lakefront. The cottage is updated and definitely the cleanest I’ve stayed in. Love the area and the laidback nature of the pond. We had some small issues that the owner was quick to tend to as best he could.
Quaint Lakeside Cottage
Loons Nest was gorgeous! Obviously just built or recently renovated, with open concept living and gorgeous kitchen. Everything you need (towels, linens, etc.) is right there for you, and there’s even a washer and dryer! The lake is right there, and amazing. We swam, kayaked, canoed and paddle boarded. It’s only 30 miles to Acadia, and close to historic Ellsworth. The fur pit by the lake was our favorite spot and so beautiful. Our only concern (which was not a huge deal) was it is close to the road— which is surprisingly busy for a gravel/dirt road— and we had a 3 year old and a dog— so had to keep an extra close eye on both that they didn’t slip out the door. Also the neighboring houses are very close, so there’s not much privacy when all tenants are out on the lake. They were all friendly and nice, so it wasn’t an issue just not expected based on the photos. That did not detract from our stay, and we would definitely stay again! Gorgeous!
Loon's Nest, Beech Hill Pond, Otis, ME
Rental is clean and comfortable and communication from Owner was excellent.
Everything you need and want for a spectacular lake vacation. Would have stayed longer if available. Clean, comfortable and beautifully decorated. Highly recommend as your home away from home. Quick easy booking and even had the pleasure of meeting the owners. Missing it already!!!
