Our family of five (including our three twentyish/teenage children) spent a week at Eden Estate at the beginning of 2017. The house suited our needs perfectly, large without being overwhelming, and very functional. The surrounding property was stunning. It is private and surrounded by lush jungle, with all the attendant sounds and sights. The surrounding property has trails and watercourses, complete with monkeys and colourful birds. While there is so much to explore on the property, there is equally as much within a half hour drive. We spent time in Manuel Antonio National Park and at the local beach swimming and surfing. We also took some time to explore Quepos and Parrita. The family rated this our best vacation ever. We will definitely be back.

We spent seven amazing nights at Eden Estate in summer 2014. The property really is as breathtaking as the pictures portray. The house sits on a ridgetop surrounded by jungle, with lush mountains on one side and the ocean in the distance on the other. The setting must be experienced to be understood- the sounds of the jungle, the constant changing weather, and the beautiful sunrises and sunsets are all yours.
The house itself is stunning. Nearly all glass, 360 degree views of the surroundings are provided. The large pool affords you a view of the nearby hills and the ocean in the distance. The architecture is stark and contemporary with many windows to take advantage of the constant hilltop breeze (only the bedrooms have A/C). The only thing that could be improved about the home is the furniture- the lounge chairs outside and couch are uncomfortable.
Exploring the property, we spotted many kinds of frogs, birds and insects on the challenging hike to the river. If you are observant you will spot monkeys in the woods, and these are wild monkeys unlike the ones you will see in town. Speaking of town, Quepos is about a 25 minute drive. Not a problem for our group as we enjoyed the adventure of being a bit isolated and cooking for ourselves. A 4x4 is essential to get up the driveway- watch out for the neighborhood cows!
If you want to reconnect with nature in a setting that is almost too beautiful to believe, this place is for you. Eden Estate was an experience we will never forget.
When we first read about this place, we thought it sounded too good to be true, but Eden Estate exceeded our wildest expectations.
An impeccable house, unbelievable design, situated in a pristine location away from the hustle and bustle of the neighboring towns. You have a rainforest wilderness at your disposal which unto itself is worth the stay. Completely private, we had a chance to see Costa Rica away from ”tourist central” and in a stunning setting, with only the sounds of nature around us. Complete comfort inside and out, glass everywhere and a wrap-around cement perimeter that allows for the best vantage to experience the pool and outdoor relaxation. We have traveled to many locations and done numerous homestays, this place tops everything. A 360 degree view into the nearby mountains, out across the coastal plain to the ocean, sitting well above the forest with breezes throughout the day. We used the air conditioning only once!
The property is managed by a local palm oil expert who was attentive to our every need and request. He was never intrusive, living off the property, but does everything and more imaginable to make your stay an enjoyable one. Fluent in English and Spanish, a truly wonderful person.
We would highly recommend the villa to any and all visitors as long as there continues to be room for us on our next visit.
We just returned from the home after a week there. It's a beautiful house on top of a mountain top with great views to the sea on one side and the mountains on the other. Getting to the house is fun and exciting - it's a steep climb and you MUST have a four wheel drive! Once you make the last turn after the long climb you see the beautiful house and it's a "wow".
The house is 5 star and is wonderful all around. It's glass on all sides and has a very open feel. Our 5 person family fit perfectly. There is a table for 6 in the kitchen area and an outdoor table for 6 with amazing views of the rain forest - that's where we ate all of our meals.
Each morning Luis (property care taker) arrives early in the morning and cleans the pool and looks things over. He's a wonderful and friendly wealth of information that is the perfect addition to the home.
A few minor items to be aware of; there are no shades on the windows and the sun rises around 5am and there isn't a lot of furniture in the home - wasn't a problem for us, but don't expect comfy sofas and chairs. Also, like most homes in the area there is inky AC in the bedrooms - plan to leave the home open, there are plenty of windows and sliding doors (with screens) to open.
Last item - there is a hidden gem of a place to eat in Parrita... Look up Pito's in the restaurant section on Trip Advisor! You probably won't find it otherwise!
We arrived at Eden Estate after a stunning scenic drive through acres of palms and picturesque villages alongside a meandering river in a sea of tropical rainforest.
Expecting disappointment after such a start, we braced ourselves; a left turn, a steep climb and we reached a flat narrow ridge. As the ridge broadened out and Eden Estate revealed itself, we were rendered speechless.
The stunning location defies description: distant sea views; cradled sides and rear with soaring mountain rainforest peaks shrouded in mists.
Luis, the manager and clearly loyal and appreciated friend of the owner, is one of a kind. He was discretion itself, sometimes walking up to service the pool at five am, before working on the family farm and his much loved new project :Palm Oil trees on mountain slopes. He explained that Ticos often have three jobs!
Now, about the villa itself: a towering contemporary masterpiece. A curved structure framed in glass; a central Atrium topped by a massive overhanging roof bringing shade to the huge curved terraces gracing the large master suits on the first floor. All glass, with stunning 360 degree views.
The exquisite horizon pool follows the curves of the villa and a series of canals pass from pool to Atrium arriving at a rectangular shallow pool traversed by a flat wooden bridge.
Sometimes places take possession of you. After an extensive over-shop we settled into the villa and didn't move till it was time to leave. I can honestly say we never felt safer or more in love with our surroundings.
Lastly, something more about Luis: he is Eden Estate - approaching all aspects of his job with dedication to make your stay memorable. Nothing is too much trouble. One morning he arrived with a beautifully-attired horse: one of the many wild horses roaming the estate, captured, tamed and trained by locals for Luis. "A surprise for you!" he exclaimed.
Having never mounted a horse in my life I did have some reservations. Nevertheless, my husband and I enjoyed this quiet steed as Luis walked her gracefully around the grounds.
After that we became friends and he regaled us with stories of family life past and present; his travels to the US, South America and his dreams for the future.
Booking was easy, the directions superb and, all in all, Steve (the owner) was very keen to make sure that we had a thoroughly enjoyable stay.
Recommended for a peaceful vacation, yet within easy reach of the Central Pacific coast and the Manuel Antonio area.
