Palavras-chave: Cabine no país elevado na fronteira norte de Yellowstone National Park; um paraíso para os amantes da natureza e caminhantes!
I will start this review with a disclaimer: In no way my words will do justice to describe just how beautiful the cabin and location are. We did a tour of National Parks from South Dakota, up through Wyoming and then then down through Colorado. Four of us stayed at the cabin for the 4 days we toured Yellowstone and the surrounding area. The directions for check-in and travel to the cabin were perfect. As other have commented the road to the cabin is not a highway, but off the beaten path. However, for those who have traveled in the mountains before, especially hunters/hikers, the road is not bad at all - but I do recommend not taking a basic passenger car up it. the cabin is exactly as described and shown in the photos, and really even better. The setting on the edge of the bluff overlooking the valley was breathtaking each time we saw it during our stay. The interior gorgeous with great furnishings. It has all the modern conveniences, which you might not expect when driving to it! We never saw another person or vehicle during our stay. Our biggest regret is that we did not plan a day or two to do nothing but enjoy the cabin. The main room with the fireplace is stunning. Our last night there was cold, windy and rainy so we took the opportunity to start a crackling fire in the rustic stone fireplace and talk about all we saw over the prior days and how much we hated to leave!
We did make time to hike up the peak behind the cabin and discovered it is actually the boundary to Yellowstone - basically right out the backdoor! We watched a sunrise from the peak and 20-30 elk in the meadows right below us grazing and even a couple of bulls were bugling. We took another hike further into the park on evening and were blessed with more amazing views and photo opportunities.
The services was great - and by that I mean the reservation process was easy, I received all information and was charged when I was told I would be, everything was where is was supposed to be, and I received an email thanking me for my stay and letting me know I was getting my deposit back. I did not have to try and arrange to meet with someone when I arrived or left, so did not have that limitation on our schedules. No one came to the cabin while we were there, but we were made aware that if we needed something to call the contact person. Perfect in my book.
We cannot wait to go back to the property. It has an amazing history and is the best vacation rental ever!
We just had a family gathering after deciding on Yellowstone and looked a lot before choosing Eagles Nest. The location is off the beaten path but that is exactly what we wanted. We found it was well worth the slow but gorgeous drive up the mountain if you want seclusion, breathtaking views and hiking right out of your cabin. The cabin is well stocked and has a wonderful fireplace and comfy beds. We drove to the park two days and spent those days hiking and viewing the popular tourist sites. The other two days we had great hikes right from the cabin. The official park boundary is not far from the cabin and on one hike we went right into the park! The drive from the highway up to the cabin is slow with switchbacks, but easy to find with the detailed directions we received and the road was in surprisingly good condition. I would recommend this cabin without hesitation!
My husband & I and six of our children stayed at this cabin for 10 days. Two of our adult sons drove our AWD van and our supplies in a uHaul trailer from our home in IL. They picked up another son in CO on the way. The rest of us flew and were picked up at the airport by our sons with our van. We weren't sure what to expect in terms of supplies at the cabin plus one son wanted to bring his motorcycle, hence the uHaul. Climbing the long road ("think" mostly private, one lane driveway winding up the mountain) up to the cabin with a Uhaul was quite an experience, so happy we arrived before dark!
We were pleasantly surprised to find the cabin wonderfully supplied with everthing one would need. Most the items we brought weren't necessary. They had deck chairs, games, laundry supplies, even books which I enjoyed reading!
The view from the deck is spectacular. I spent most my time sitting out there whether reading or enjoying a meal. At night I could see my son's motorcycle headlight winding it's way up the mountain. Internet connection was best out there as I kept my friends updated with awesome pictures.
The older sons enjoyed hiking up to Electric Peak from the cabin and are already hoping to return next summer to try it again. My younger kids, 17, 15, & 12 either went with them or short hikes on their own (with the cabin's bear spray of course).
We stayed 10 days. Traveling up & down the road was a bit more driving than my husband likes so we would only visit the park every other day & just relax at the cabin the off days. This worked out great because the seclusion and peacefulness is what we enjoyed.
I'm somewhat handicapped but found the accommodations very comfortable. I always worry how comfortable a bed will be but found the full size bed to be very comfortable. I also had my own private bathroom! I let my husband have the Queen bed and he shared a jack & jill bathroom with the younger kids. There were 4 twin beds (2 bunks) in their room and they were very comfortable as well. The 3 older sons shared the little log cabin just a stone's throw from the main cabin. It has 2 bedrooms with 2 twin beds each and a jack & jill bathroom. It is well stocked with bedding & towels. It's quite rustic however so if someone isn't used to roughing it (or spiders) they might want to stay in the main cabin.
The only wildlife we saw near the cabin was a deer and a bear cub running up the hill on one of our drives down.
Loved it and hope we can return one day!
I just returned from our annual trip to Yellowstone Park; I own an outfitter company. Our group of anglers had the pleasure of staying at the Eagle's Nest Lodge right outside of Gardiner, Mt. The lodge was very well kept, the view was spectacular and the wildlife was abundant. After a long day fishing the lodge provided a welcome relaxation that included TV, movies, games and good conversation. The lodge had all the items that we expect from a first class lodge, laundry area, kitchen and outside deck. Also the price was very reasonable. I recommend Eagles Nest Lodge to anyone who is planning on visiting Yellowstone Park
We spent a week at the cabin while we visited Yellowstone. The road was easily driveable with our KIA sportage - AWD vehicle. For a wilderness road its well maintained but its helpful to drive the road in the daylight - we arrived after dark and did just fine thanks to good directions and a map provided. It takes 30 minutes to drive the 10 miles to the main road. The cabin is well stocked which is good since you are a ways from town. The cabin is clean and well maintained with a new washer and dryer and dishwasher. We hiked up the Electric Peak trail that starts real close to the cabin. Its helpful to have an Electric Peak Quad Map. We didn't make it to the top due to a thunderstorm. The storm was severe enough to knock out power to the cabin. The owners were great to keep us informed about the progress in getting the power restored and had stocked the cabin with flashlights and a lantern which was helpful. We built a nice fire in the large fireplace and warmed up the cabin and had plenty of light until the power was restored.
We saw Elk every day near the cabin. We enjoyed walking the road and hiking the trails around the cabin. Its such a beautiful location. We only used the main cabin but the bunkhouse was a cute log cabin with two bedrooms and a bathroom. There is a lot of room for a family here. We never saw another person the whole week we were at the cabin. Peaceful, beautiful solitude with a view. We would stay here again.
We absolutely loved this charming log cabin on the mountaintop! The cabin was clean, well maintained and stocked, comfortable, and oh so private! As coastal people, we were initially a little intimidated by the dirt and gravel road up the mountain,. We quickly became at ease and treasured the nature and wildlife on our daily trips up and down the mountain. Our three generation family emjoyed exploring the wonders of Yellowstone Park, rafting the Yellowstone River, and hking. It was so special having adventures with our parents and young adults and relaxing, hanging out and enjoying the spectacular panoramic views of the Yellowstone River, the valley, and the mountains. Special thanks to Maricruz for going "above and beyond" to insure that this truly was one of the best vacations ever!
