Looking for Paradise? Here it is at the El Matador! Has to be the most sought of family vacation resort on the Emerald Coast. A secluded condominium nestled between the beautiful white sand dunes and the sparkling Emerald Waters of the Gulf of Mexico.
El Matador is truly a beach resort. Just two miles down Santa Rosa Blvd at the end of the Island you will find us – secluded but still just a few minutes to all the amenities that Destin and Fort Walton Beach have to offer. Just six miles down Hwy. 98 you can enjoy Destin – “ The Worlds Luckiest Fishing Village” – charter a private trip or take the kids out on a group boat and catch dinner. While in Destin enjoy fine restaurants, shopping, and golfing on some of the best golf courses in the Panhandle of Florida. Hard to believe that you might need a day off from the beach but if you do take the family to Big Kahunas Water Park in the center of old Destin. Much more than just a water park… it’s a day of fun!
Back at the El Matador enjoy the large grass areas between our buildings just right for family fun and games. With two pools, his and her whirlpool, and saunas just right for your tired muscles after a game of tennis on one of our courts, or in our fitness center. We are located at the end of Okaloosa Island a small barrier Island between Fort Walton Beach and Destin. This gated community with thirteen miles of undeveloped beaches to the west is sure to have you longing to return.

Awesome condo with a great view

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a wonderful time during our stay. Very nice room with great access to the beach and the beachside pool which is unheated so it was a bit chilly during our time there to use it. None the less it’s right outside the patio door about 20yards away. There are too many fine restaurants to mention here and the food was wonderful everywhere we went. The beach is clean and right there out the door of the back patio about 40 yards away. We enjoyed hearing the sound of the waves and the wind and don’t forget the sunrise and sunsets either! Condo was clean and comfortable as was the king sized bed. All in all a wonderful stay!

Almost perfect!

The location of this condo is phenomenal! It is steps from the beach and steps from the pool. We were always able to find a parking spot pretty close to the room too. No need for elevators or stairs. The kids loved having the green space right outside the patio. The complex butts up right against the air force base so you’re not allowed to use any of the beach to the right of the complex. However, because there’s no one on the stretch of beach it made a great background for pictures. The condo and grounds were VERY clean. I was worried that being an older complex it may have issues and it is very dated but everything worked well and was very clean. The beds were very comfortable. My 4 year old slept on the pull out and I don’t know that it was super comfortable, but my 9 & 7 year olds had no complaint about the twin beds. My husband and I both thought the king was great. The kitchen was lacking some utensils I would’ve liked but overall fine. My only complaint would really be that I reached out to the property manager prior to our stay asking some questions and no one ever responded. We’ve only ever stayed on the east coast and I have to admit, the water and sand are way prettier here. We have double red flag rip tide warnings all week so that sucked some of the fun out. But my kids really enjoyed driving over to the bay side where the water was calm and also beautiful. We will be back!
