We stayed here for a week to celebrate my boyfriend's 30th birthday. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Tiki Beach Too. For starters, the location is exceptional. Truman Annex is in the heart of Key West. Fort Zachary Taylor State Park is about a 5 minute walk from the Condo, and I highly recommend going if you have time. It's a great place to snorkel on a budget. The rock jetties out in the ocean are home to beautiful tropical fish! Duval is 3 blocks away, along with countless bars & restaurants. Frita's Cuban Burger Cafe is delicious & so close to the Tiki Beach Too! Definitely have lunch at Frita's while you're there.
The condo itself has a very nice patio. However, there was a lot of poop (perhaps, from the neighborhood chickens) on the outdoor furniture, and it would've been nice if those were cleaned prior to our check-in. The patio is also not very private. Usually, I wouldn't have an issue with that, but the neighbors in the unit next to the Tiki Beach Too (Unit 102-2) were arguing constantly. This went on for the first 4 days of our visit during the day and late at night. The arguing escalated to the point that the police were called on at least 2 occasions. As I said before, lack of privacy on the patio usually wouldn't be an issue. However, because these tenants were so volatile, violent & unstable, we would've preferred to have a bigger buffer zone between the 2 units. I do understand that these troubled tenants in a neighboring unit is not a direct fault of the Tiki Beach Too, but their presence did affect the first several days of our stay.
Lastly, our only others complaints about the Tiki Beach Too were fairly minor, but definetly important nonetheless. The headboard in the master bedroom hits the wall every time someone moves an inch in the bed. It was very disturbing throughout the night, and should be repaired promptly. Additionally, the faucet in the shower was damaged & needs to be replaced. I definitely think that the price per night of this condo warrants a functioning shower faucet and a headboard that won't wake up the whole house when someone moves around in bed. Aside from that, we had a great time in Key West, and would definitely stay at the Tiki Beach Too again, I just hope next time we'll have different neighbors!!!
We stayed for one month at Tiki Beach Too and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.It was clean and had all the necessities of home from basic spices in the kitchen, bbq grill,beach towels and beach chairs,tp and soap in the bathroom and laundry soap for the wash. A small cooler was also provided which was nice for bringing beverages to the pool and beach. Was nice to sit on the front porch and people watch or on the back deck for a little privacy. Centrally located to everything:walked and rode bikes everywhere! We had our car and only used it 4 times for the duration (twice was to pick up and drop of family at the airport). 3 bikes with locks are provided and they were put to good use. Community pool was our go to place before dinner, if you're unfamiliar with the area it's a good place to meet ppl and find out info about where to go and what to do. We would definitely stay at Tiki Beach Too if and when we visit Key West again! ~Rich and Christine/Long Island, NY
This was not our first time staying at "Tiki Beach Too" and won't be our last. This townhouse is in the perfect location in Key West. I have stayed in a wide variety of Key West accommodations and this is the one I gravitate back to, when I make my reservations early enough. The townhouse is located in the Truman Annex, a quiet well maintained residential area. There is a reserved parking spot and you are right next to the entrance to Fort Zachery State Park. Then again, you are also a just couple of blocks from the famous "Green Parrot Bar" (a block away from Mile Marker 0) and all the action of Duval Street. Shopping, restaurants, entertainment, and the beach at the State Park. I haven't found a better location for a stay in Key West. So much to do in Key West that I have never taken advantage of the pool, but it looks good when we walk by. Cindy is always very responsive and communicating by e-mail or text makes the whole process easy. Every time we stay, Cindy has made some major improvements. The new deck in the back is a great place to cook on the grill or for a quiet "cocktail hour" in the evenings. However, I enjoy sitting in the front of the townhouse on the "hidden porch" first thing in the morning with a cup of coffee and watch the city start to wake up. Of course, this is Key West and some wake up later than I do. On this visit, we had expected to rent bikes for our usual tour around the "away from Duval" parts of the island, but when we arrived at the townhouse, we were pleasantly surprised to find two bikes waiting for us on the back porch. Thanks, Cindy for providing those little extra things that you always do. The only negative is that the "ice maker" has a hard time keeping up with our crew. We solved the problem a couple of years ago by purchasing some ice cube trays to complement the supply of ice and left them in the townhouse for future guests. They were still there this year and the supply of ice was not a problem.
I would like to start by saying that the condo was the perfect size and location. It was clean, adequate and very comfortable minus the beds unless you enjoy sleeping on a very hard, firm mattress! I travel extensively and I wish people who rent out their homes would understand that when your away from home for a week at a time, there is nothing more important than a nice comfortable bed to get a good night sleep on. Walmart has really nice 4 inch "memory foam mattresses" for approx $125 Queen size and & $109 for singles. I would encourage the owners to invest in these to make the condo the perfect place to stay! That being said, everything else was great! FYI...the pullout sofa bed is not memory foam. It is springs and also very uncomfortable! I was very disappointed as the description read that it was a memory foam mattress. Please take another look and even read the tag. Polyester filled..spring! And lastly, I was disappointed that the pool is closed for use at dusk! The pool area and pool itself is nice and all lit up. It's a shame that it can not be used after dark!
My daughter and I stayed for a week and enjoyed the location of the condo. It is an easy walk to all the shops, restaurants, and entertainment. The condo is located in a quiet location next to the Fort Zachery State Park. The property was clean and included all amenities needed. There is one bike; it would be nice to have two. However, there is a bike rental shop about 2 blocks away. Contact with the owner before, during, and after the rental was great. We hope to stay here again next year! Thank you for making our stay so effortless.
When we arrived, we were pleased to find everything we would need to spend that first night in comfort.
The busy part of Old Town is just a block away, but inside Truman Annex it's quiet. People are friendly and it feels like your own town.
The pool is less than a 5-minute walk, the parking is right there, it's all on one level, and the deck is wonderful in the morning for coffee/breakfast and at night for cocktails before dinner.
The kitchen has a dishwasher and full size range and fridge. There were four of us, but we never felt crowded. The furnishings are comfortable and there's plenty of closet space.
The bathtub is worn, but everything else is up-to-date and all was very clean.
Cindy was very responsive and communicating by e-mail makes it all easy. They also left information for us on all sorts of activities. Hemingway's house, the Truman Little White House, and a wonderful Butterfly/songbird habitat are all things we walked to. We also went snorkeling one day and enjoyed a couple of restaurants outside of Old Town, some shopping for sandals--and of course we walked up to Duval St. for one night of bar-hopping. The bar patrons were friendly and fun and multi-generational and enjoying life in Key West.
