We had a great time and the house is beautiful...especially the pool! A few things to be aware of: if you are renting a car and driving l, be aware that it is not an easy drive and once we navigated the very narrow twisting roads and got to within the vicinity of the house, it was very difficult to locate the house itself. It would be helpful to have had some directions about how to spot the house from the road ahead of time...there are no house numbers so no way to know which house is the right one. Another thing to be aware of is that the bed in the master is a queen not a king. Also the house has very basic kitchen supplies: a few pans, salt, pepper, vinegar...and that's about it. No oil, sugar, spices, aluminum foil, etc. and the number of plates is very limited and there are no dinnerware bowls. Only one medium plastic mixing bowl. It would have also been helpful to have some sort of welcome folder or binder to give info on the area and about to the house. We used the wifi to set up some excursions and locate grocery stores etc. the closest grocery store is super J's which is 2 min drive but parking is extremely limited and we did not feel very welcome by the locals. Overall, the house was awesome and gave us plenty of privacy on our honeymoon. But, be aware that renting a home in St Lucia is for the independent adventurous travelers only. We definitely had s more authentic experience of St Lucia than the average tourist staying at a resort but having a few more basic items stocked in the house and slightly more guidance with some kind of written material or recommendations would have made our stay even better and less stressful. Bottom line: If you are okay with fending for yourself in another country, I would definitely recommend staying at this amazing home
This is a wonderful rental, and has a great location on the island. My wife and I just got back from spending our honeymoon here. We really had no complaints while we were there. When we first arrived I noticed their was no blender which was a surprise to me since the VRBO details specifically says their is a blender. I sent a quick text to Leslie, and she was at our door the next morning with a new blender. Needless to say the homeowners are very attentive to your needs, but still give you all the privacy in the world.
The house and it's amenities are kept in great condition. Someone was sent to clean the pool and clean the house roughly every other day.
I highly recommend this rental.
Let me start by saying how gorgeous the view is both day and all the beautiful lights at night. You can see Vigie beach, the mountains, the harbor where the cruise ships come in and a small airport. When I first arrived I was shocked that we were pretty much on top of an airport but it was not bad at all and we enjoyed watching the planes come and go. The airport closes fairly early so its not a problem with noise at night, there is also a little coffee shop and bank we went to at the airport, there is a constant breeze which was wonderful. The house is pretty much like the pictures only I think those pictures are from when it was brand new, its a bit rundown now and the beautiful kitchen cabinets are layered in grime and dirt and in need of a deep clean. The bathrooms have some water leak issues and need some maintenance. I was dissapointed that the cute little pool was not usable. The water is FREEZING !! It really should have a heater. I was not at all impressed with the island as a whole. There are some really gorgeous vistas and scenery, but I found the city of Castries a dirty, filthy uninviting place that I would not return to.
We recently stayed at the villa for a week in February. Overall, the stay was fantastic! The location was great, the views just like on VRBO, and the villa was extremely comfortable.
4 days we went to the beach at Reduit and to Pigeon Island. The beaches are great and the St. Lucians are phenomenal people. We went to the Ptons one day, and a catamaran trip the other.
For meals, we ate every breakfast in the villa, and three dinners we grilled out. It was perfect! A car is necessary at the villa so that you can travel freely to the beaches, stores, etc.
Again, a perfect vacation!
The house is very nice, with two bedrooms and 2 and 1/2 baths. It was nice to have air conditioning to run at night. The upstairs outdoor covered deck is a lovely place for meals and it was nice to have the pool when it was hot. The beach at Vigie Bay was great for walking and generally there were very few people there. It was fun to watch cruise ships come and go into Castries and we actually enjoyed watching the planes come and go at the airport. Be careful when getting a taxi from the airport to the house. If you say you want to go to Ti Caye house, they want to take you to Ti Caye resort, which is 45 minutes and a $60 ride away. The house is really only 2 minutes from the airport. A rental car is a must. We were treated to dinner at the resort on the beach below the house and they left eggs and fruit for our first breakfast so we didn't have to run to the store immediately. The grocery is close, but not close enough to walk. The house could use some more plates and bowls and silverware. If you had 4 people staying there you wouldn't have enough dishes to feed everyone at the same time. Also, the directions say to look for a green iron fence, but it's been painted white. No fault of the house, but we were not big fans of St. Lucia, due to the high crime rate that we were told about. The house has locking gates that we were told must remain locked. We were told not to carry cash or wear jewelry. The roads are very rough once you get away from the main area around Castries. We also found Castries to be a very filthy city. Driving down to Anse Chastenet was a LONG, harrowing day. Worth the trip to drive through the rain forest area and small villages (which look like big towns on the maps), but be prepared. The resort areas on the island are very nice and we highly recommend a visit to The Yard, which has the BEST hand made clothing, jewelry and gifts made and designed by local artists. Lovely people. They are also making a bookstore and coffee shop which looks like it will be great. Rodney Bay is beautiful and the tapas restaurant there (on the water) has the best lobster burger every eaten. It was worth a trip to Pigeon Island, great views, nice park, okay restaurant, and decent beaches.
I'll open with: we loved our time here! The home is beautiful and has a wonderful view. While we got the impression that Leslie is a busy person, she responded promptly to emails and phone calls when problems occurred. The cleaning staff were wonderfully friendly, and did a good job.
The house itself is lovely, we spent most of our time in the outdoor spaces which look just like the pictures.
It is right next to the small plane airport, you can literally see every plane take off and land (which I enjoyed). My first impression was that it is kinda loud, and it seemed like a plane would land about every 1.5 hrs, but the planes never taxied for more than 5 minutes. For the remainder of the time, if you listen hard, you can hear the surf at the beach. So not bad, once you get used to it.
The appliances and facilities in the house were clean and functioned properly. THE FRIDGE HAS AN ICEMAKER! This is a definite plus for semi-alcoholics likes us. Leslie reported the water was drinkable, I had some minor discomfort at first, however everything was fine after my body acclimated. The only thing I'd take note of is that there is a water intake in the pool, and it is right in the middle of the wall facing the lounge chairs on the deck. It is ridiculously powerful. If you were thinking of hanging on the side of the pool and talking to people in the lounge chairs, beware! It's not dangerous, but It hurts when it catches you.
In terms of it's location: You need a car to stay here. I'm not sure Leslie wants me to put put directions up here, but I'd recommend you ask for detailed directions on how to get to the house once you're next to the French consulate office. The house is close to everything, but next to nothing. Ill say that again: there are no restaurants, or bars within easy walking distance. There are some food and drink shacks on the beach across from the airport, but no actual bars (there's an all inclusive on the other side of the beach, but I think you have to buy day passes to get in). This means no crowds, and the beach is almost always empty, but bring your own drinks! With a car you can get to all of the stuff on the north side of the island in 10-20 minutes. We'd recommend doing taxi tours to the south part of the island and pitons first and driving there later. The highway on that side of the island is harrowing.
The Coal Pot and Brown Sugar Bar are right on the other side of the airport and were awesome!
Enjoy your stay!
