My family of 6 spent the week at this cottage. Nice accommodations; master bedroom on ground floor and others in loft upstairs. Beds were comfortable. Steps to the lake from the cottage on the dune bluff were well maintained and had several landings with benches on the way; a nice amenity. Lake level had gone down from record highs and the beach was great. The A/C came in handy on the few hot nights we had. Good living room and dining space for meals and evening board games. Deck off back of cottage was a great place to sit with coffee and relax. Wifi worked well. Enjoyed the proximity to Saugatuck/Douglas/Holland and the restaurants and shops. Was a great week's respite from work.
This house is situated in a quiet, subdivision about 20 minutes north of South Haven. The surrounding area is beautiful and a bit more off the beaten path than being right in downtown South Haven where we have stayed. The house is up on the bluff but does have a private staircase down to a very private beach. The water was high when we were there but quite a nice beach was present. However the beach and the immediate swimming area was super rocky. I know this could change literally by the day but packing water shoes might be a good idea just in case. We shared the house with another family and in total we had 4 adults and 4 children. There is one master bedroom on the first floor, one very small bedroom with a door upstairs and two lofted sleeping areas. It was a bit tricky with kids but we made it work. The only BIG complaint I have is that neither shower has a curtain. I'm not sure why but when trying to shower small children (and yourself for that matter) the water gets absolutely everywhere. I would think just putting up a simple rod and curtain would really help eliminate this so you don't have to mop down the floor/walls after every shower.
Everything you would need in the kitchen is there and more. Never rented a house with such a well stocked kitchen.!
We loved this location overall and hope to be back in the future. Thank you Mollhagen family for sharing your beautiful home with us for our summer vacation.
This unique cottage is situated along a beautiful, quiet stretch of the lake between South Haven and the Saugatuck/Douglas area. It's a short drive either direction to plenty of activities, restaurants and shopping without all of the hubbub of being right in town. The neighboring homes are close enough by that you don't feel secluded but far enough away that you have plenty of privacy and quiet. We especially enjoyed sitting at the picnic table on the bluff overlooking the lake, while we watched the sunset, listened to the waves curl in and sipped our drinks. The cottage is interesting architecturally. It is a hexagon with huge windows overlooking the lake, beautiful interior exposed wood and appointments that cross over from rustic to modern. The photos and description accurately represent the property. The cottage was clean and well-maintained. The kitchen is well-equipped and the common areas are very spacious. The sleeping areas and bathrooms are on the small side but very functional. The shower stalls are angled in such a way that a shower curtain is not absolutely necessary, but it would have been nice to have one anyway. Guests need to supply their own bed linens and towels, which we didn't mind doing. There were plenty of paper products like toilet paper, tissues, paper towels, and coffee filters. There is a small, but interesting assortment of games, puzzles, books, movies and CDs. The owner provided recommendations for local restaurants and shopping which were all spot on. We planned our fall getaway very last minute and the owner was very accommodating with letting us stay on short notice. I would recommend this property to a friend or relative.
We truly had a great time at this cottage and the surrounding area! The open air concept of the cottage was truly so relaxing. Being able to walk to the beach right from the cottage was a bonus but the added bonus was the opportunity to drive down to the beach since we had a family member with a broken foot. In addition, the supplied fire wood made for some nice camp fires in the evening.
Ah, PURE MI in GLENN!
We enjoyed a spectacular family vacation at this property. The cottage was very clean and well maintained. This is a great place to "get away from it all" as a family. We loved playing on the private beach. We also loved that it's close to downtown South Haven were we spent a night shopping and dining. We will definitely be staying again.
I was very pleased with my stay at this adorable cottage. The cottage is beautiful, unique and well-maintained with a great view of the lake. I loved that we were able to watch the sunset on the back deck at night, or could take a short walk down to the water for an even better view. The beach access was quiet and clean.
My husband has limited mobility and uses cane to get around, so it was great that there was a bedroom and bathroom on the 1st floor and a ramp leading to the cottage.
