We really enjoyed staying in this apartment. The location was perfect for cafes, markets and walking to many historical sites! Very convenient! It was cold in Paris but the apartment heated up quickly and the 5 of us that stayed really comfortable when we were inside. I would definetly stay here again if I have the chance to visit Paris in the future! Reservations and check in was very easy also!
This apartment met our needs for our 5-day stay over the holiday period. I almost gave it only 3 stars but since it was our first rental in Paris and we have nothing to compare it to I decided to rate generously. One reason: would I stay there again? Yes, if that was the part of the city I was visiting. It became a comfortable home for us for our short stay. As others have noted, it is in a good location close to shops, markets, cafes, etc., but not in the heart of the touristy sites. Metro stops short walks away. While it has all modern conveniences, a little refreshing may soon be in order (plaster cracks, etc.). The pictures are accurate except perhaps things are a little more worn now. The hallway shower is just that: a shower that opens to the hall--you keep the outer door open to afford a little privacy from the main living area. The kitchen is small (as expected), but very usable and the available appliances, dishes, etc., are plentiful and quality enough that we were happy to prepare meals and eat-in more than we ate out during our stay. WIFI was great; we never turned on the TV so cannot comment on it. Typical old Paris building with narrow winding stairway, but not bad walk up at all (after you get your bags up). Our greeter was helpful and gracious; the ride he arranged to the airport was timely and efficient.
Highly recommend this apartment
Two couples comfortably stayed This place was exceptional;
Location, Location, Location in the middle of the Marais!!!!
--800 yards from one of the great farmers markets in Paris at the Bastille. Open Sunday and Thursday. We went 4 times during our stay and bought incredible fruits, vegetables, seafood, beef, cheeses, crepes, baguettes, and flowers. We ate in half the nights and we ate really well because of this market.
--3 short blocks from Place de Vosges--this was Royal Palace of Louis 13. Now a beautiful large grassy square with fountains. We took dinner and wine to the park one night.
--2 blocks from two great bakeries--one toward Place de Vosges on Turenne one on Rue St Gilles
--1 block from nice supermarket on Rue St Gilles
--100 restaurants within half a mile. We especially enjoyed Chez Janou (make reservations early--we had one delicious meal and tried to make another reservation 2 days before and it was too late) on Rue Roger Verlomme about 3 blocks away and Les Bougresses (ate here twice for delicious 3 course meal for 25 Euro) about 4 blocks away, We also did take out at Pasta Linea (excellent pasta) 3 blocks away and Slyce (pizza) one block away on Turenne toward Place de Vosges. Jewish quarter was nearby and had great Falafel from famous Falafel take out.
--800 yards from St Paul metro which takes you to all the major sites
--Butcher shop next to St Paul metro with great chicken
--One block from Picasso Museum and two blocks from Carnavalet Museum
Apartment--probably 100 years old. Old and charming
--Apartment was very clean.
--Lovely living room with numerous paintings
--Excellent dining room
--Two large bedrooms with plenty of closet and storage space
--2 private bathrooms
--Small but well equipped kitchen. We did not use dishwasher--washed dishes by hand
--Great wifi and free wifi calls anywhere in the world from the apartment phone.
--Very secure. Two doors with keypads to just get in the stairwell and then double locked apartment door.
--Quiet but lots of activity on both streets the apartment overlooked.
--Booking was very easy. No surprises
--Local apartment manager met us when we arrived and oriented us to the apartment and local area. He also arranged for transportation to the airport and train station when we left.
The Turenne apartment exceeded our expectations. The pull out sofa beds were very comfortable, which normally is not the case. There were 6 of us and for a small apartment, we had plenty of privacy. The location was amazing. We loved our little neighborhood. Cafe's and shopping superb. Metro, bakery and market were close by. Everyone was friendly. One negative - Don't use the washer/dryer. The dryer does not work. Wash clothes by hand and hang dry. We arranged drivers through HomeAway. They were efficient and so nice. Upon arrival, we were met by a lovely young man, whose name escapes me, and he gave us a full explanation of the apartment and the neighborhood. Should we get back to Paris, we would stay in this same apartment again. It really was that great. This was a trip of a lifetime and we thank you for a lovely stay.
We found the apartment very comfortable, the setting convenient and the district full of things to do. Overall, we had a terrific time in Paris and the apartment played an important role in making it a great experience. Thanks!
Everything about our apartment was wonderful. We were met at the apartment as planned and received instructions on how everything worked. The apartment was attractive, nicely furnished and located in a great area. We were totally pleased with our stay. The only thing we would change about our trip would be to pack lighter. This apartment, like much of Paris, does not have an elevator.
