Paradise!

The unit is in the middle of the jungle, surrounded by big trees and spectacular view. Nice private beach and swimming polls. The apartment is beautiful and very comfortable, I love the shower open to the jungle.

Excellent property!

This is one of the loveliest places we have stayed on any vacation. Being nestled in the tree canopy watching monkeys, sloths, birds and all sorts of other wildlife scamper around you is amazing! The beds are comfortable, the outdoor showers are amazing (keep the lights on overnight so small fruit bats don't come to sleep there during the day), the kitchen was fully stocked with quality items for any type of meal preparation, wifi and AC worked fine. We had a driver, Marvin, take us to/from San Jose to the resort and he was fantastic. Very comfortable seating, safe driving, and info on Costa Rica. No need to rent a car at the resort unless you want to explore further areas of CR, as we could walk to several small markets for groceries, walk to restaurants and the on-site restaurant was excellent as well. All of our excursions picked us up/dropped us off right at our resort as well. Having so many friendly people around to give you recommendations for food or activities was wonderful. We did three very reasonably priced excursions and all were excellent: surfing lessons, ATV tour, and catamaran/snorkel excursion. The staff at the pool restaurant/bar took great care of all of their customers… Especially Lester, Manny, Chris and Daniela. I highly recommend the naturalist walk done by the Sloth Institute personnel, very informative and interesting. Julie with Green Coast Rentals made the registration process simple and easy. Frank, the concierge in Costa Rica, was willing to help provide any services that you needed. We did hire a personal chef one evening, Chef Tito, and he was entertaining, very reasonably priced and prepared an excellent meal for our family with plenty of leftovers for the next day. Agua Azul was our favorite offsite restaurant for a great casual dining experience (walking distance). And the wood oven pizza at the Wagon restaurant was worth the taxi ride to eat there. We had one pizza with Costa Rica fresh pineapple on it that was fantastic! We would love to go back and stay in Casa 405 again someday! If you are looking for a place to unwind and relax with your family and still have activities available close by, then this is absolutely one of the best places to go! Pura Vida!

Great stay. Tulemar is a a 5-star resort.

We stayed over Spring Break - 5 of us - mom, dad, and a 14 yo, 11 yo, and a 10 yo. Casa 405 is superb. Everything you would need is there. The concierge service is top notch. The Tulemare Resort is absolutley grand. Service was excellent.

The only complaint would be that the AC units on the main floor and in the west facing bedroom could use an upgrade.

Beautiful resort

Concierge was wonderful.

I really didn't like the outdoor shower. There was always animal feces on the floor and walls. Hard to feel clean.

Also wish there was an indoor dining area.

Lookout for Wildlife in the Outdoor Showers!

We love Manuel Antonio and have stayed at Tulemar before, however this was our first time in a two bedroom bungalow. It was very spacious, fully equipped, even with a washer and dryer, and we loved having the tub on the patio which was perfect for rinsing off the kids after the ocean or pool. The showers are outdoor showers which we thought were fun, however be prepared for anything in there! In addition to run-ins with monkeys and bats, on our last night there we also encountered a gigantic furry aggressive spider crawling around in our shower which we believe was a Brazilian Wandering Spider. We were all a little on edge after that. Aside from the spider incident we definitely enjoyed the property. The only thing we would've really appreciated more than anything would have been room darkening curtains. We were traveling with two toddlers who would wake up as soon as the sun came up (which happened to be about 4:30-5:30 am our time) and nap time was certainly challenging given that it was impossible to darken the room even a little in the afternoons. Needless to say we were all pretty exhausted by the time we left, however we love Costa Rica and will be back soon. This was a nice property but we will definitely need to inquire about the curtain situation next time. Thank you for letting us enjoy your bungalow!

5 Star Resort, 4 Star House

This was our third time in this town, but first time at this resort. There was friendly staff throughout the property, beautiful gardens, walking trails, pools, shuttle service, restaurants with excellent food, but the BEST part was the private beach and bar nearby.

It is an amazing house and we enjoyed our time here. We arranged with Green Coast to have groceries waiting for us upon arrival, which added a nice touch to their service. There were two disappointing features of the house that I feel I need to note here. The first and most important was the view. The 9th picture on this listing shows an amazing unobstructed view of the ocean and hills below the casa, with the caption, "view of the Pacific". Unfortunately, this is NOT the view that you get from the balcony this house, as there is now a very large palm tree that is blocking much of the center of the view. There are now only ocean views from the sides of the balcony, when you look to the right and left of the giant palm tree. I was very disappointed to see the tree, as I had chosen this house mainly because of the view that is advertised in the ad. I hope that they take a new updated photos of their "view", because I feel that the current ad is quite misleading. The second issue that we encountered was that the two toilets downstairs that are attached to the bedrooms are located outside on the balcony, along with the showers. We liked that the showers are outside, but in the middle of the night, none of us wanted to use a toilet outside as there were bats hanging from the ceiling above. This meant that we had to walk up the stairs to the main floor in the middle of the night to use the first floor's toilet. On the second morning we started finding large piles of bat feces in our showers that we would then have to step around. The last day, when the maid service came, we assumed she would clean up the shower area, but the piles were still there after she left. By then it was too late to call for cleanup.

Overall, we had a fantastic trip to CR and really enjoyed the location. The house was almost perfect for us. I do not think we will stay at this house again in the future, but will consider other houses nearby.

I have ordered updated photos of the view from the balcony, as you are correct; a large palm tree is partially blocking the gorgeous ocean view. And, yes, we have also had an issue with the small bats wanting to roost in the outdoor showers and are currently looking for a solution to the problem.
