Stately and serene, THE HOME OF THE HULA MOON is one of the most beautiful contemporary oceanfront properties in PUAKO. Each bedroom has a perfect ocean view. Located near the end of the road, you will enjoy year-round sunsets and privacy.

Puako has the best beach weather on the Big Island. Stunning sunsets, views of Maui, and an infinity lawn to the ocean. Plus a large courtyard pool. There is lots of room for a large family and friends at this 5000/7000 sq. foot home on the beach.

We do not have Air Conditioning, but the large ceiling fans, and ocean breezes keep it very pleasant.

We don't allow weddings, events, receptions or any type of workshops at our home so please don't ask to be the exception to this rule, because we just won't rent to you.

The home has a large infinity lawn and there is no barrier between the house and the ocean, therefore, please note the layout of the property and think about the people in your group, prior to booking this vacation rental.

All vacation rentals must have a STVR permit from the County of Hawaii in order to be a rental. We were among the first to receive ours, so we are in full compliance. STVR-19-349600, NUCR-21-0441.

Back to the fun stuff.

As you enter through the gates, lush tropical plantings enhance the large courtyard swimming pool and generous lanai. The pool is usually between 79 and 88 degrees depending on the season. The pool is less than 4 feet deep. Children who are not 100% potty trained must wear swim diapers in the pool. Consider the next guests as well as yourself.

THE HOME OF THE HULA MOON is designed so that every room has a magnificent view of the ocean, you will love the open and airy feeling of this large large contemporary home.

HULA MOON offers gracious living in a relaxed atmosphere. Including the covered lanais, you have almost 7000 square feet of indoor/outdoor living space. The two-story Great Room is very inviting with wonderful views of the ocean. The beautiful oceanside lanai has a dining table for 8 to 10. The lanai also has large chairs for relaxing and a punee for lounging. There is a built-in wet bar. We have a small sandy beach just to the left of our home, which great for playing with the kids. People often snorkel in the tide pools in front of the house at high tide.

You will enjoy watching the humpback whales in season, spinner dolphins and green sea turtles from the house. The Puako reef offers some of the best snorkeling and walk-in scuba diving on the Big Island. We are located between beach access points so you will have very few people walking by the home along the beach.

We have four large bedrooms with maximum privacy. The Kona and Kohala suites are on the main floor and both have stunning ocean views and doors that open onto the lanai. Each suite has been beautifully appointed with new King mattresses and new linens. Both have large bathrooms with a separate dressing area and a large open air but enclosed shower filled with tropical plants.

The two spacious upstairs bedrooms have expansive ocean views and a private lanai that runs the length of the house. The Aloha suite has a new King bed and a new punee (Hawaiian twin bed) for relaxing. The Turtle suite has new Twin beds (that can be made into a KING Bed) and a daybed . The Turtle suite is a great room choice for the kids, or for parents who want to sleep with their child. Of course, it is also perfect for for friends to share. Both upstairs bedrooms have bathrooms with large walk-in showers.

Each bedroom has a TV set. There are 6 televisions with many premium cable channels throughout the house. We still have one DVD player and we have have a large selection of DVD movies in the Living room cabinets. There is a CD player and CDs in the living room for your retro musical experience.

There are ceiling fans, portable fans and louvered windows in every room. There is No AIR CONDITIONING but if you leave the louvers open it remains cool and comfortable. Every bed has a blanket plus a quilt or comforter which guests often need at night.

If you have business to attend to, we have several work stations. We have good wifi coverage on the property and it's the best that Spectrum has to offer. The internet is great for streaming and most work but it’s not meant for realtime gaming or other low-latency tasks. Guests may not unplug the modem, the router or the sync modules which are there to increase coverage. If you do this, you may shut down the system and it will be down until my IT person can get to the home. He charges $175 per hour, so call me or your concierge before trying to "burp" the system or expect a delay and an invoice.

The upstairs double office has a printer that you are welcome to use. There is paper and spare ink in the drawer. There is also another punee (Hawaiian lounging bed) for relaxing. This can sleep an adult or teen if someone needs to sleep separately but let us know well in advance if this is anticipated so we can make it up properly.

I am sorry to have to remind you of this, but please note, you may NOT take the mattresses off the beds and move them into different parts of the home or outdoors. And please do not move indoor chairs outdoors or vice versa.

Extra housekeeping, in-home massage, kayak rentals, catering and more can be arranged locally so please ask our concierge. We will do our best to give you some options so that you can make the arrangements for your perfect Puako experience!

HULA MOON is professionally managed by the owner and her staff. This is our second home and my only vacation rental property and it shows in our attention to details.
