As soon as we parked in the driveway, Nate and Julia were there to greet us. They took us on a tour of the house and informed us of the history and how Nate had done a great deal of work to make the place the retreat that it has become.
The space is more than the pictures can depict. We walked into a very large front room with two couches or might they be sofas. They did look in superb shape so I would use sofa although a couch is usually used more than a sofa would be. Just a little fun with words.
We were guided to what I would refer to as the middle of the residence with another smaller couch which was very comfortable for two. This room was like being in a warm and inviting log cabin. There was a book shelf with a variety of books. I took one about Ireland and found it very interesting to sit in this serene, comfortable room and just have the book and quiet. I read an article which I found in a frame on the book shelf about Julia and her love of books.
On to the kitchen .... full size refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, a tray full of herbal teas and Stevia which I happen to use as my sweetener so I was glad to see it. On the counter top was a tray with three freshly baked chocolate chip cookies. I did have them and they were soft and chewy and very delicious. Thank you Julia and Nate!
The bedroom was warm and inviting. Looking out the window, I could see the stream down below. It was a chilly day, however, I opened the window and could hear the soothing stream. There is plenty of closet space in the bedroom and other areas. The bed was comfortable, and although it is a double bed, there was plenty of room for two.
The bathroom was around the corner with a clean shower and amenities for bathing if needed.
If you want to play music or CD's there is a player in the front room. There is no TV which is good as this is supposed to be a haven for peace and quiet. There is WiFi if needed or you can sit anywhere in the home especially in the "log cabin" room and read with no sounds at all. It really is that quiet!
Thank you Julia and Nate for a wonderful experience and for the cookies.
We were welcomed with produce from Julia's garden and fresh baked chocolate chip cookies. The kitchen had been stocked with some of the things that a guest might need before going to the market. The apartment was charming and comfortable as well as spacious. We've stayed in self-catering properties in many parts of the states and Europe and this is one of the best. We highly recommend Pilgrim's Progress for the location, the apartment, and our hosts. There is one thing that the apartment did not have and that was a TV for which we were grateful. While not unplugged, as there was WIFI available, the feeling of disconnection was appreciated. It made it a real vacation.
Beautiful. Quiet. Clean. Peaceful. The property was set in a quiet neighborhood in the woods. The facility itself was immaculate. The Owners hospitality was beyond friendly and made you feel right at home. They had gone over the top to make you feel welcome. If you enjoy peace and quiet, away from the chaos of tourism, I would highly recommend staying here. Close all the Pennsylvania dutch activities, restaurants and Hershey. Beyond what we were looking for and will return again when we are in the area.
My husband and I stayed a week at Pilgrim's Progress retreat. It was so nice to get away from our busy schedules and enjoy some rest and relaxation! It was very quiet in a beautiful country "woodsy" setting. The rooms were so comfy and cozy, I loved the decor and the quaint "log cabin" dining room! It was very clean and the kitchen was well stocked with pans and utensils for cooking. The hosts were very friendly and a very nice family. Would love to go back sometime, we enjoy the Amish Lancaster country!
We really enjoyed our week long stay from August 22nd - 28th. It was a wondrous experience. We don't want to leave but must. Thank you very much for being a wonderful host and hope next time, we can stay longer.
We visited in August 2015 for our son's 5th birthday trip. Although we were only there for 3 nights, we greatly enjoyed this beautiful and amazing area. The location was perfect for us and only 20 minutes from Dutch Wonderland. A grocery store and multiple farm stands were just minutes away. The vacation rental was clean, delightful, spacious, and cost-effective. The layout is very spacious (more so than what the pictures portray) and updated and was perfect for our family of four. Basic pots and pans and dinnerware allowed us to cook our meals at home. The hosts ensured that our stay was a peaceful, quite respite from the daily grind.
Progress Retreat do Peregrino está rodeado por inúmeras comodidades, tais como museus, parques, restaurantes, cultura, bem como nas proximidades Gettysburg e Filadélfia.
