Berkshires-Great Natural Beauty, Culture, Outdoor Activities and Easy Highway Access. Close to Tanglewood.
Special Offering: 4 week stay from July 6 to August 3.
Charming house situated on four lovingly-landscaped acres with abutting woods, nestled on a quiet country road. Take advantage of our fully equipped home with hardwood floors, a sun-drenched porch, and a warming fireplace. Delight in the geothermal heating and cooling system, several select libraries, and an open "great room".
There are two first-floor bedrooms; one has a queen-sized Tempur Pedic bed and the other a pillow-top double bed. One room can accommodate another foam/blow-up mattress on the floor. The upstairs has a master bedroom with a queen sized bed, magnificent views and a ceiling fan. In addition, there is a guest room/study/entertainment room with a pullout couch. There are foam mattresses and blow-up mattresses available for any room. All rooms have linens, dressers, and closet space. The house is meticulously cleaned and vacuumed before any rentals.
Included in the rental is a pass to a private sandy beach on beautiful Queechy Lake (along with lifeguards, dock, boating, and fishing), which is three miles away.
In the warmer weather enjoy the master bedroom deck. Sit on the yard deck with a barbecue grill, chairs and a table under an umbrella, play tennis down the road at the Town Park, go swimming at Queechy Lake, (a free pass is provided to this private sandy beach with a lifeguard, swimming, picnic tables, fishing and boating) and go to Tanglewood, Williamstown Theater Festival, Jacob's Pillow, Hancock Shaker Village, Kripalu and dozens of other cultural offerings.
On a rainy day visit the Clark Art Institute, Mass MOCA, the Norman Rockwell Museum or many other nearby museums.
In the evening, cook in a well-equipped, newly remodeled island-type kitchen with a quiet dishwasher, which is part of a 'Great Room' (so you can socialize while you cook) using food from local farm stands and eat a relaxed dinner at home.
After dinner, take a walk and, later on, see the beautiful stars at night, especially from the master bedroom deck or catch fireflies. If its cool, make a fire in the outside fire pit or in the indoor fireplace. Listen to music as you play cards or socialize and go to sleep to the quiet of nature.
In the autumn, see the spectacular fall foliage, hike in the crisp air, go apple picking, toast marshmallows over a fire, snuggle up to read in an easy chair, make cookies in a well equipped kitchen, visit museums, go to the theater or just sit around and socialize and relax.
In the winter, there is great downhill skiing and snowboarding for beginners and children at Bousquet, Butternut or Catamount Ski areas, which are all within a half hour of the house. Jiminy Peak offers challenges for more advanced skiers and is only thirty-five minutes from the house. You can also cross-country ski on numerous local trails, sled at local parks, and visit museums.
In the spring, watch maple syrup being made, smell the fresh air, and watch the trees and flowers bud out. Swing on the bench at our small private pond hidden away in our woods, and, in season, celebrate nature by listening to chorus-like peepers, chirping wood frogs, and night owls. Explore the outside once again with hikes, bikes, walks and play in the backyard.
If you're feeling adventurous, there are endless activities to do within a forty mile minute drive. The Hudson Valley-Berkshire area has so many trails to hike or mountains to ski, routes to bicycle, lakes to swim in or boat on, museums to visit, theater/music/dance to enjoy, and a great variety of quality restaurants to eat at. You'll have to come back next year to see and do it all.
The house is equidistant from Boston and New York, making it an ideal place for a reunion/gathering with people from both cities.
