What a great stay we had! Beautiful condo with a great view and most amenaties you would ever want. The only thing keeping me from giving 5 stars is the lack of A/C. If that's not a concern for guests, then I'd highly recommend thus condo. And the owner, Susan, was very nice and responsive in my communications with her.
Good location, clean apartment and building premises. Furniture was adequate but not great but I guess that is how rental properties are furnished. Big minus for us was absence of air conditioning. The fans were running very slow. We could not sleep well because of hot and humid air in the apartment. No A/C may be norm for rental properties in Hawaii but coming from dry weather of Las Vegas we were expecting atleast comfortable cool air in the apartment especially in the bedroom which had window opening only in the lobby and so could not keep it open.
This was our first experience staying in a rental property instead of a hotel.
Overall, extremely positive. Two minor issues: 1. Ceiling fan in bedroom intermittently noisy; 2. DVD remote did not work despite our purchasing new batteries. Definitely recommend.
We really enjoyed our vacation in Kuhio Shores. The property was very well-maintained and provided all the necessary amenities. The view from the lanai was spectacular! My husband grilled almost every night on the communal barbecue and was pleased with the equipment he used. It was very nice being next to the Beach House restaurant to enjoy the beautiful sunsets.
We went snorkeling at Poipu Beach which was very close to the property and very nice.
Susan provided very good customer service and answered all our questions, including where to buy fresh fish!
We would definitely recommend this property to our friends and relatives.
While it's clear the property has been there a while, our unit was well-maintained and the owners were wonderful! This location excels in a number of ways: it's next to a great snorkeling area (Lawai Beach), a great restaurant (The Beach House) and about everything else in Po'ipu. We had nice breezes, but the fans were helpful. If you hit a hot day in summer, it could be tough, but our January stay was terrific.
The 1 BR condo was well-maintained and felt like home. The only challenges were a poor iron (which you don't often need for the beach) and a lot of dull knives! If that's the worst it can be, we don't have it too bad!
The owners were great and accessible - and incredibly helpful with suggestions about area activities, restaurants, etc.
I would certainly recommend this location to our friends and relatives. This was our first time using VRBO and we were very satisfied with the whole experience!
We used the Reef Guides for a guided snorkeling experience at Koloa Landing. Craig and Courtney were terrific: knowledgeable, fun and professional. The landing was okay but a little rough and since we had snorkeled before, not the best experience as far as seeing fish, turtles, etc. (The turtles in that area were definitely oversold - or we just hit a bad week). If you are wanting a first-time snorkel experience, definitely check out the Reef Guides. They provide great information about the fish, turtles and the reefs - and the equipment. They are very conscientious and rescue diver certified so it's also a very safe experience. The water experience was followed by lunch at The Beach House, and meeting the people in our group in that beautiful setting was one of the best parts of the day.
The food event on Wednesday afternoons at the nearby Kukui 'ula shopping area is great fun with lots of samples and, after having eaten at The Dolphin there and also in Hanalei, we heartily recommend their shrimp tacos, calamari and anything else you choose to get. Puka Dogs and Keoki's Paradise in Poipuy Shopping Village were two of our favorites, along with Duke's in Lihue and also Brennecke's in Poipu (the reviews on Brennecke's are sometime negative, but our lunch there overlooking the beach was great). Try to stock up at Costco in Lihue (or one of the other big stores) if you can before arriving. The market at Kukui'ula fills the gap and so does GS Whaler's in Poipu Shopping Village but selection is limited and pricey.
