This is a fantastic home with a fantastic owner! As soon as I walked in, I immediately felt "at home". Beautiful hard wood floors throughout the home. The kitchen, dining area, and living area were very open and perfect for gathering without feeling crowded at all. Modern and up to date! Very new feel and very well appointed. There's a half bath in the hallway where the bedrooms are. Beautiful countertop/mirror and a nice size for a half bath. Also in the hallway is a double closet with books, some games, and dvds. The selection of dvds is wide ranging from Finding Nemo to Animal House. Definitely something for everyone.
The 2 bedroom suites are both good sizes, with the front bedroom being a bit larger. Both have a small desk and chair, as well as another reading chair. Nice decor. Plenty of lights. Comfortable beds!
Both bathrooms appear to be same size. Very nice decor. Pocket doors in both bathrooms are great since they don't take up any room. The hairdryers are mounted on the wall, have an integrated nightlight, and work very well. They were nicer than most hotel hairdryers. Towels were fluffy and plentiful. Bathrooms were very well lit and also had heaters in the ceiling for those cold mornings!
Unexpected details- the supplied shampoo/conditioner and soap. Cute travel sized packaging with The Park Street Guest House logo/info printed on them. Bottled water/chocolate/earplugs (which we didn't need) on each bedside table.
There's a laundry room with washer/dryer, iron and ironing board. My son LOVED this since he could bring his laundry from the dorm and wash it while visiting with family. He brought/used his own pods and dryer sheets, but the owner supplies a respectable amount for those who may need it.
There is a cute screened in back porch with a table and 4 chairs. Although we didn't get to use it, I know it would be a great place to wind down in the evening. During the day, you can see the entrance to The Creeper Trail from the back porch! Yes, it's that close!
From the front porch, 128 Pecan restaurant is seen within half a block. Easy walking distance! I could have literally thrown a rock and hit the parking lot.
Overall, The Park Street Guest House is wonderful! I couldn't think of a thing that needed to change. I'd live there if I could! Janet, the owner, is a human version of all information about the Abingdon area. She is an excellent spokesperson for the area restaurants, shops, activities, etc. I can't wait to visit again!
We stayed here for a girls' weekend to celebrate my 50th birthday and can not say enough about this fabulous VRBO. Gorgeous, brand new, comfortable accommodations. Thoughtful touches like water bottles and chocolate bars bedside! Owner, Janet, was extremely responsive and helpful. We parked our car and walked everywhere!! There is a train that passes by the back of the property twice per night, but it was a small 30 second inconvenience compared to the many, many wonderful things about this VRBO. Felt like a home away from home- just wonderful !!
Perfect location for access to the Creeper Trail and walking in downtown Abingdon. Set up is for 2 couples or a family of 4 with two separate bedrooms, each with a full bath. Very updated and comfortable. Fulle kitchen.
We were two couples sharing the 134 Parklane house. The owner met us. Parking for 2 cars. The house is completely redone with high ceilings, comfortable furniture, well stocked kitchen, and a nice screened porch. Totally spotless. The location is just perfect - some things within 2 blocks: the Creeper trailhead, the Barter theaters, bike shop, several good restaurants, natural food store, and Saturday farmers market. The Wolf Hills brewery is a 10 min walk which I highly recommend. We rode the Creeper trail which goes through beautiful country. I recommend riding from Abingdon to Damascus and back (32 miles very gradual grade) or taking a stroll on the tree lined section in Abingdon.
This was the best house I have ever rented from VRBO. Absolutely no complaints. I agree with other reviews that it is worth more than 5 stars.
The Park Lane guesthouse is exactly what this doctor orders! Abingdon is a quaint historic town with a smashing theatre district, delicious restaurants, and shopping galore for a girls weekend getaway. I had a girlfriend fly in to spend 3 nights together. The guesthouse was perfect! Two full bathrooms accompanied each bedroom, a large gathering area for eating and visiting, and a beautiful screened porch to enjoy the crisp mornings with coffee. We walked to restaurants, saw a show at Barter Theatre each night, and shopped at numerous specialty stores. The bike shop is next to the guesthouse making it easy to rent a bicycle for a period of time or spend the day on the creeper trail! The owner did it right with the guesthouse! Small details like numerous outlets in the bathroom, a well stocked kitchen with utensils, wifi throughout the house, and a wide floor plan makes it easy to move around if you have a disability. I strongly recommend Park Lane as the perfect location and destination for anyone who wants to getaway.
If I could rate this guest house with more than 5 stars, then I certainly would do so!! My friends and I reserved the guest house from September 7, 2016 to September 12, 2016, and we have absolutely no complaints. You will immediately know this property is special when you arrive and see the myriad of plants surrounding the house. I was so impressed with the landscape that I toured the entire yard before I walked into the house. Then, the interior of the house amazed all of us!
This property has all of the conveniences of home, and it is within walking distance of restaurants. We ate breakfast each morning within the screened back porch, and we also enjoyed tea or an adult beverage on the screened porch at night. The only time my friends and I used our car was when we commuted to our event in Bristol.
My friends and I are health conscious but we enjoy a good beer. I brought my bike, and I biked the Virginia Creeper Trail which is located around the corner from the guest house. A bike shop is located next door to the guest house which was convenient because I discovered a slow leak in my rear tire. The shop replaced my inner tube within 10 minutes.
We had a delicious meal at the Peppermil located on Main Street, and my friends sampled the beer at Wolf Hills Brewery which is located down the street from the guest house.
There is a natural foods market across the street from guest house where I purchased organic tea. This market has a little bit of everything (e.g., apothecary, free range meat, bakery, etc.).
Lastly but definitely not least, the owner (Ms. Janet) is absolutely wonderful!! She responded immediately to my initial inquiry about making reservations. She is definitely Abingdon’s best advocate because she had me eager to visit Abingdon months before I arrived. I highly recommend this property, and I will definitely return!!
