We loved our stay! The home is beautiful, roomy, wonderful lanai and ocean/palm tree views. What a great place. We are only from Kona side, but haven't been to Kapoho for many, many years! It has blossomed to a fun and beautiful place. The Wai'Oae Tide pools are amazing! We did the walk to the volcano entering the ocean past kalapana...stunning. Highly recommend this place! Two nights was just not enough!
As residents of Oahu, we travel to the Big Island a few times a year. We love the Kapoho tidepools area. Liza's home was conveniently located near the tidepools and was comfortable for our family of six. My kids especially enjoyed reading their books and lounging in the hammocks on the lanai. We prepared all of our meals in the modern kitchen which had all of the appliances, dishes, utensils, and cooking implements we needed. The entire home is nicely furnished in tasteful island decor. I also appreciated the fact that we didn't need to bring our own snorkeling gear, as there is an outdoor closet full of gear for all ages (even a puddle jumper floatations device for my three year old). Relaxing time - we will be back!
Our family truly enjoyed staying at Liza's beautiful home in Vacationland. The house was walking to the Wai-Opae (Kapoho) tide pools, and was located in a lovely residential neighbourhood. We snorkeled nearly every morning (saw amazing tropical fish!), with even our 5-year old son and my 75 year old mother-in-law able to easily walk to the tidepools.
The home itself is beautifully appointed, with elegant decor and very comfortable beds. Everything was extremely clean when we arrived, and there were plenty of supplies for our stay. The house is modern, while its design is in keeping with the locally prevalent architecture. The wrap-around lanai (deck) was a place we spent much time, reading in the hammock, eating breakfast, or gazing out at the waves crashing the shore at high tide and stargazing at night.
The garden is magical, with lush tropical vegetation, coconut palms swaying in the wind, and many flowering plants that were bright during the day, and fragrant at night. Our kids ran around in the garden, picked up pine needles, and fallen coconuts, and played hide and seek.
The kitchen was another place we spent a lot of time, eating home cooked meals most days. It's a modern kitchen with all the conveniences you might need to quickly put together meals for the family. All the pots and pans were clean and in good condition.
Liza thoughtfully provided all linens, towels, beach towels, soaps, shampoos, etc. for the duration of our stay (4 days). The community closet filled with snorkeling gear was perfect and we were able to find sizes for adults as well as the kids.
The location of Liza's house is perfect to drive south to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park (45 min-1 hour), as well as north to Hilo (45 min). We went to HVNP one night and saw the Halemau'mau crater and caldera on Kilauea glowing orange in the darkness -- absolutely a once-in-a-lifetime experience! The lookout from the Jaggar museum was open till 8 pm, and the museum itself had a wonderful exhibit on the volcanoes. Another day we drove to the Hawaii Tropical Botanical Garden in Hilo, a stunning, dense tropical "jungle" with an amazing story. It is located on the beautiful, wild and rugged Onomea Bay. We also saw Lava Rock State Park, which is very close to the home, but didn't make it inside to visit.
We were so lucky to have stayed at Liza's home; it was a truly magical place to spend time on the more remote, less commercial, East coast of the Big Island.
A beautiful modern home in an awesome location - close to the lava viewing and the best snorkeling in Puna. Perfect for a weekend get away or a month long stay.
This house was so comfortable and well equipped! It had beautiful sunrise/ocean views and is only a 2 block walk to the beach.
The house was clean spacious comfortable and we loved relaxing on the deck! Well stocked and snorkeling gear was a plus.
We enjoyed the house so much we extended our trip!
Liza was quick to respond and easy to work with!
I love Kapoho so much- it is relaxed even by Hawaii standards- you feel 100% at peace! Must visit Pele, champagne ponds and Waio pai tide pools, and drive kalapana road during daytime.
Make sure to stock up on food and drinks before you arrive- 20 plus minute drive to the nearest anything--but a perfect place to relax. I can't wait to go back and would definitely rent this lovely home again.
This house was perfect for my family. The house was clean and was well stocked. The only thing it was missing was a juicer. Both bedrooms had very comfortable beds and attached bathrooms. The girls loved the mosaics in the showers. The 3 year old girl twins slept all night on the futon in the small room!Thank You Liza for responding immediately to any concern we may have had. I would love to come back to this house next year! The salt water hot pool was a great experience for the entire family and was located under two miles down the road. Loved the Sunday market!
Uma curta caminhada até as piscinas naturais Wai'Opae, 15 min para a cidade de Pahoa, 5 min para as lagoas térmicas, 10 min para o lançamento do barco e praia de surf, 1 hora para Parque Nacional dos Vulcões.
