AVAILABLE FOR RENTAL MAY 1st TO OCTOBER 31st YEARLY. Ospreys' Rest' is the perfect wine-country getaway, offering the best of all worlds. Nearby some of the world's finest wineries and excellent wine-country restaurants, the house lies at the end of a long private gated road through the woods, a unique location that offers seclusion, quiet, and privacy.

One of the last homes built in the community of Summer Home Park, which itself is located at the end of a one-mile, one-lane county road, Ospreys' Rest has the comfortable feeling of a cabin-in-the-woods, yet provides the advantages of modern conveniences: elegant updated furnishings and amenities, central heating, large decks, stereo sound system, glass-top range, and microwave. The central areas of the house are cooled by ceiling fans, and an air-conditioner, although rarely necessary, is available in the main bed room.

The living room/dining area features floor-to-ceiling glass windows offering views of the woods, and just outside the fronjt door a steaming redwood hot tub stands in the center of a towering circle of redwoods.

Two decks are adjacent: the extensive front deck provides ample space for sunbathing, grilling and dining, while the rear deck (off the kitchen/dining area) is perfect for watching the antics of the osprey family (the nest is quite nearby and viewable from the deck and living room), relaxing and reading, dining, or catching the afternoon sun.

Hike, bike, swim, read, float or canoe the river (canoe rental facilities nearby), sunbathe, soak in the hot tub at your secluded hideaway..or...use it as your base from which to explore the many wonders of the Sonoma County wine country: wine-tasting, road-and-mountain-biking, hot air ballooning, Armstrong Redwoods grove, antiquing, horseback riding, and fine dining. The magnificent Sonoma coast, with it's hidden beaches and iconic communities like Bodega Bay, is a short (24 mi) drive.

PLEASE NOTE: Summer Home Park is a private community, and use of its facilities and attendance at it's social functions are not included in the rental of Ospreys Rest.!

Whatever your taste, you'll find Ospreys' Rest a place to which you'll want to return to again and again.

Lovely stay in the Russian River

The cabin is exactly as described, a very private getaway in hills overlooking the Russian River. The place was private, quiet, and comfortable. My wife and I enjoyed our stay very much.

classic wooded retreat in Russian River

We enjoyed our stay in this classic cabin/summer home. It's a beautiful setting in the woods, definitely secluded and very private. The property was comfortable and had everything we needed. We particularly enjoyed eating breakfast on the outdoor deck looking out among the trees and listening for the ospreys. The owner was responsive to inquiries and before arrival provided detailed directions on how to find the property, which we appreciated as the road through the Summerhome Park area is not straight forward! Once through the main Summerhome park area the final approach on the private driveway, about a quarter of a mile, is steep in places, narrow, with deep ruts. We were glad we had our 4WD as it is a bit rugged. The one inconvenience to such a nice secluded retreat is that we had to pack out our trash, so it's good to plan ahead for that. All in all a very enjoyable stay!

Beautiful location

We came to the area for a memorial service. It was the most cost effective place in our budget. There was slight communication issues but we overcame that because technology isnt always our friend. We were able to navigate the maze to find the gated driveway and slightly paniced but were able to gain contact with Bruce and had a laugh about it. The cabin is is cute and true to its roots. As stated with their very well documented binder of info of the area and how it came to be the neighbors aren't as inclinded to show a smile but i smiled and waved anyways. We enjoyed the musical stylings of one of the summer home park residents celebrating their 50th birthday late into the night. It helped keep our spirits light with why we were down there to begin with. As Bruce has stated in previous reviews you can expect a slight musty smell, you're in the woods and its warm(90°+ weather while there). It's bound to happen but with a little breeze and a little cooking the smell disapates pretty quickly. Also, if you're senstive to having non-city water it is a well system and can be a little different experience not saying it's negative just be prepared with bottled water if you dont enjoy a slightly flavored aromatic water. Yes, you're in the great outdoors! Expect bugs and things that go bump in the night. I enjoyed the previous guest books and photos as well. Thank you for opening your home to us.

Quaint & Quiet

We were visiting to attend a graduation ceremony. The property was quiet, which is what we wanted. It was a little far to drive, but worth it for the quiet. One thing we weren’t aware of was the path from the parking spot to the door was pretty steep and not paved. That was a little bit rough for our 73 year old mother to navigate. So we had to escort her up and down each time we departed the property. It’s just important to note if you have mobility issues. Thank you, Bruce!
