Great value and location

While this is an older unit, our family was very comfortable here and all of our basic needs were met. We enjoyed being close to one of the pools and took advantage of some of the amenities at Turtle Bay (restaurants, and adventure center). The property managers were responsive when needed and we definitely enjoyed our stay and would recommend this property for the price.

Would Not Reccomend

What a great time we had in Hawaii! I wish I could say the same about the townhome we rented (137W). I'll start first with the positive and then comment on the opportunities. From a positive perspective this townhome is located on the golf course and within a few steps of the pool. The person we dealt with (Stu) was very responsive to our needs although solutions left a lot to be desired. Also what a pleasant surprise when we were contacted by a concierge who helped us set up all our activities for our stay. This is where the good stops....Now lets talk about the condo itself. Wow, honestly I've stayed in 50.00 a night motels that seemed like 5 star resorts compared to this townhouse. We were so disappointed upon walking in that we actually considered just switching to a hotel and chalking up the money we spent for this townhouse as a learning experience. The townhome was dirty, flooring all over the home had come undone and was popping up all over. There were ants in the cupboards, sink and counters (Stu came the next day and laid out ant bait). We were relying on the sofa couch for one of our children but upon opening it up, it was seriously the worst mattress I've ever seen! The mattress was all springs!! When we contacted Stu he was quick to respond and brought us a futon mattress. Now you would think this was great right? Well, the futon mattress seriously looked like it has been found on the side of the road somewhere. It was disgusting! We stayed at Turtle Bay at the advice of some of our friends. These are very old townhomes which many have been totally updated, however, this one still felt like I'm sure it did when it was built in the 1970s. It was disappointing to think how much we spent to rent this, how much I'm sure these townhomes cost and the fact that the owners have done little to nothing to make it a nice place to stay. The townhome smelled like must, the linens were old and smelly etc. I think you get the picture. Bottom line, this townhome is not equipped to be rented. It needs some serious updating, cleaning, repairs etc. It also needs someone who is going to take serious what it means to rent out a place to people on their vacations. To bring us a mattress that looked like it was picked up on the side of the road, think that anyone could sleep on a sofa mattress that had nothing but springs to it, find a home dirty and not well kempt is not acceptable and has not been our experience with other places on VRBO.

Resposta do proprietário: Well we are glad the vacation was a success after all. While this is an older property, we feel this review is overly harsh. We have had two other guests since this one without any complaints or issues, and many guests have enjoyed it in the past (several good reviews are available on other booking sites that we use). The floors in this condo are the original hardwood, that is part of the charm of the place. If the condo is not aired out prior to a guest's arrival, it can be stuffy at first. But when the doors are open to allow the trade winds to pass through it is very pleasant (there is a security screen door and the bedrooms are air conditioned). Since this guest's stay, we have had the regular quarterly pest control performed and our cleaner is replacing all of the bed linens, towels, and pillows. The pullout sofa is less than 1 year old but we will buy a new foam pad for added comfort and will purchase a new futon for another bedding option. That is the extent of the guest comments. We do not find comments like "The townhome was dirty" to be constructive or fair. We assume that if the bathrooms were dirty, you would be reading about it. Or the kitchen. Or the floor (the only complaint was that the floor was old). Yes Stu is very responsive and this guest never brought up any cleanliness issues to him. If they had, he would have addressed them on the spot. They also had our contact information and did not reach out to us about any of this. We ask that you please consider staying in this condo, many guests have enjoyed it. You will, too!

WELL IT IS A LITTLE DIFFERENT THAN THE PHOTOS...............NOT AS WARM AND COZY WITHOUT THE PLANTS AND SOME OF THE DECOR AND FURNITURE IS DIFFERENT..........LOCATION WAS GOOD..CLOSE TO THE POOL.........BEACH....SNORKELING..........IT WAS STOCKED PRETTY WELL........A BIG PROBLEM FOR US IS THERE WAS NO DECENT BBQ'S TO COOK ON........AND WE BBQ NIGHTLY WHEN ON VACATION...........COULD HAVE USED A FEW MORE TOWELS.....TOILET PAPER.........SOUPS..........CLEANING SUPPLIES..........WE RENTED 3 UNITS THIS TRIP AND BOTH OF THE OTHER 2 UNITS WAS STOCKED MUCH BETTER THAN THIS UNIT..........ALSO...........IT WASN'T THE CLEANEST..........SIZE AND LOCATION WERE GREAT...........JUST NEEDS A BIT OF SPRUCING UP AND.............. Resposta do proprietário: We are glad this guest had a nice vacation overall. We do change things like the bedspreads, shower curtains, etc over time, which we think our guests would appreciate. There are charcoal BBQ grills available at the pool. We can add some towels, but our instructions to guests clearly state: "All properties are individually owned and furnished but will come with a basic sundry starter kit for at least 2 loads of dishes and laundry, one roll of toilet paper per bathroom and a 2-3 garbage bags for the kitchen, 2-3 garbage bags for the bathroom, hand soap for the bathroom and dish soap for the kitchen. Properties are not re-stocked like hotel rooms and for visits longer than 3-4 days, it is recommended that guests procure additional items necessary for personal use. Guests also need to bring personal toiletries such as shampoo, conditioner and shower gel/soap." This condo also clearly states that it is air conditioned in two rooms (the bedrooms). There is no central air conditioning. Most of the time the tradewinds are blowing and there is a nice flow (there is a security screen door on the front door for this reason). This guest did not bring up any cleaning or “sprucing up” issues to us. Many guests have enjoyed this condo.

We were very pleased with our three week stay at this location. Everything was as described and promised.

The managers were a great addition! For any issue that may have come up it was fixed that same day. The managers also went above and beyond to make sure my parents had an amazing time for their 40th wedding anniversary. I can not say enough good things about the managers of the property.

I definitely would recommend this property to anyone looking to stay at Hawaii North Shore and the location has plenty nearby to venture out and see to keep you busy or to just relax.

Great Property, Roomy and close to everything.

What a great time me, wife, mother, 12 year old twin boys and 6 month old daughter had in Hawaii. Chris and Beth your hospitality was incredible. i received a call when we arrive welcoming us to Hawaii. All instructions were so accurate and the pictures were exactly in person as in pictures. Cable in all rooms as to watch TV every where. We went 5 miles to Foodland and bought groceries as to cook breakfast every morning watching sunrise behind the palm trees on the golf course. oh yes and before you get to food land there were several shrimp trucks where we could eat lunch or dinner, yes i had the best funnel cake ever. This condo was so centrally located that we had at least 5 private beaches in both directions. Air conditioning in bedrooms and opening the sliding glass at night to get a cool breeze, while i watch tv of course and staring at golfers. Went for walk on course and the back side of the course took you right next to the ocean, what a fantastic view. We are definitely coming back and Chris and Beth you made this experience amazing for me and my family. See you next year.
