My husband and I stayed at Villa Eluna for one week while in St. Lucia. This is the perfect place for those who like adventure and don't want to stay in one place at an all inclusive for a week. It is within walking distance to a small beach and a short drive on a non busy road to Sugar Beach - which has a resort and amenities (food, snorkeling, etc). Or you can lounge at the house, which has a large pool with an incredible view. For dinners, you can cook at home (stop at the grocery store in Vieux Fort on the way from the airport) or venture out. There are 3 restaurants which are a short and easy drive away - Ladera, Boucan, and Sugar Beach, and Martha's Table is within walking distance for lunch.
The house was well kept and maintained. Cornelius comes to maintain the yard and pool everyday and is very friendly. Tisha even did our laundry that we had left out to air dry. There is also a security guard at night. The bedrooms have a/c, which we used only at night. I would recommend insect repellent for the evenings - but that's the case everywhere on the island.
Villa Eluna is also a short driving distance to the base of Gros Piton hike - no need to pay someone to come and take you there. There are also taxi drivers you can call if you don't want to venture out on your own, but we found as long as we stayed out of Souffriere (narrow crowded streets), we felt comfortable.
There are some who prefer all inclusives - everything is taken care of and you just show up. But if you are looking for something a little more secluded (your own pool all day long), affordable, and gorgeous - then this is the place for you!
Close to all the things we wanted to see. Hired chef first night. It wasn't Basil but he cooked an amazing dinner. Driving was an "adventure". Cornelius was extremely helpful, polite and did anything to make our experience a wonderful one.
We truly enjoyed our stay at Eluna. Not only was the house beautiful, but we were surrounded by amazing restaurants at local resorts not far from the house. Tishe, the housekeeper, was so sweet and welcoming and Cornelius, the gardener was very warm and helpful. The house itself was cozy and provided amazing views of the Caribbean Sea and the Pitons. I couldn't have asked for a better place to stay in St. Lucia. I hope we can visit again soon!
Overall VERY happy with Villa. Beautiful view of the ocean and Pitons. Great pool and outdoor seating. Adequate space in villa and beds were very comfortable. Everything you need in the kitchen and having WIFI was great. Good communication between property manager and me. One shower lacked hot water. Be advised the roads/driveways are very STEEP but you are in a mountainous area so its to be expected. Trek to the beach could not be done by anyone older or with any type of disability. Would even be a little difficult with small children. Only recommendations I would make would be: Better lighting in bedrooms, more comfortable seating in living room area, lacked privacy due to daily gardener/maids/night security. Not the worst thing in the world but we were never alone for very long. Need a cab to go anywhere. Great value - great place!
We had the most amazing time at Villa Elluna. What you see is what you get! Beautiful location, very spacious, comfortable beds, it was exactly as expected. The staff (maid and grounds keeper and security) are delightful people! I have two critiques: 1) the shower wasn't working very well; 2) the bats, oh my goodness we could never enjoy the outdoors after sunset because the bats would just come swooping in over the pool and as much as you try to ignore them it seemed like they would just keep getting closer. A point to those planning to stay at villa elluna, the villa is in a very remote location so ensure you rent a car so you can drive to soufrier to get groceries/other needs. Nothing is walking distance. VERY close (car ride 5-7 min) to Sugar Beach, the BEST beach on the island. All in all, everything was absolutely PERFECT. Thank you villa elluna staff, we would love to come back one day, we will definatley be sending some friends and family your way!
First and foremost, the staff is incredible. Susan was amazing beforehand answering the millions of questions I had and with a quick response. Cornelius, Keisha and Chandler were amazing. We saw Cornelius every morning and he was funny and always answered any questions about what to visit in the area and always made sure the pool was pristine, which was hard since it's next to the forest. We also hired Chef Basil twice. Each meal was incredible and we enjoyed his company and chatting with him after dinner. Keisha came Mon, Wed and Fri and left the house spotless and even did our laundry for us. The house is in a perfect location. Yes, there are neighbors but you still feel like you are in the middle of nowhere. We spent most of the time in the villa in the pool. The view is breathtaking and we watched every sunset during our stay. The floors are concrete and the open air of the doors and windows make it quite comfortable. There are fans in the bedrooms and I never woke up hot. The only issues is the water (and not something I think they can help). You can only run one thing at a time or there is no pressure, so we had to time all our showers. However, in reality, that is a minor complaint in comparison to the beauty of the villa itself. If you are an animal lover it may be hard seeing all the cats and dogs roaming the island. There a a couple of cats near the villa. My mom and I couldn't help but to feed them. We named the oldest one Soufie and he would lounge by our feet and let us pet him. There are several restaurants in the area. Bring your life savings. Nothing it cheap, not even lunch. We highly recommend Orlando's in town. It was so good, we went twice! He even made us a special menu our second night. Others we tried and liked were Martha's Table (take a left out of driveway and it is on the left), Dasheen, Humminbird and Mango Tree. We suggest staying away from Boucan. The service was terrible and the food was mediocre. Definitely do the volcano and botanical gardens. We also enjoyed Sugar Beach, but if you don't eat there you have to park far away and the walk back is intense, and my husband and I are fit. The drive to the rum distillery is worth it and if you like rum, stock up there. It's super cheap! Don't waste time going to Castries. It's dirty, busy and everything is massed produced. If you are looking for local artwork, try Zaka, in town. Can't recommend Villa Eluna enough. Best vacation ever!!
