The cabin we stayed in had a beautiful view of the lake from the inside picture window which we enjoyed very much every morning when we woke up. The cabin is rustic and it was very cozy. We enjoyed using the wood burning stove for heat as it was a bit chilly this time of year. We spent some time on the beach enjoying the pretty sunsets and watching a few sail boats pass by including a Schooner tour out of Watkins Glen which we later went on and had an amazing time (Highly Recommend). We really enjoyed the location of this cabin as it was conveniently located near downtown Watkins Glen and in the center of the Seneca Wine trail. We love this area so much and look forward to coming back again.
Loved the gorgeous view of Lake Seneca. Perfect for a weekend getaway with friends or a loved one!
We really enjoyed the cabin and peaceful atmosphere of the property. Sitting by the lake relaxing was amazing. Close to many great vineyards and hiking (we hiked Treman, Watkins Glen and Taughannock Falls).
We are looking forward to coming back again!!
We felt it was misleading saying that it was a romantic getaway & private.it is not private AT ALL as there is another cabin right next to it.You are practically sharing the space with them. The first day it was vacant however people did come with children and in order to go down to the water you have to go into their space to get to the stairs, they had to control their dog so we could go to the stairs. It isn't a family friendly spot either as advertised as there isn't really any flat area for kids and it drops off where they can get hurt if they are little children. You have watch your children pretty much the whole time, okay for tweens and teens..When you walk down to the water there is a canoe that has weeds growing through it, the area looks trashy.there was a lounge chair down there that looks so worn out like its been there for years & never moved. There are kayaks but you have to rent, for the price they should be free to use.we didn't look into renting because we were in the area for wedding and we didn't have time. When the ad said there was a beach area it is really just rocks not sand like you imagine a beach to be.The house over all served its purpose but it was very expensive and we would not recommend it for romance or small kids. The grounds were not kept up, there was broken glass on the side of the parking area and other junk and the house needs some painting.there are simple things that could be done to make it more desirable. The bathrm is exactly what it shows but should be upgraded it is a plastic shower like you are at a kids camp not something you would normally look for if you were looking for a romantic getaway. Down by the water where the dock is there are exposed electric wires, safety issue. The other thing we were really bothered by is that we were charged a cleaning fee ...for what exactly when we were required to clean everything before leaving so we could get our deposit back.that's not vacationing.we had to vacuum, clean bathrm shower, sink, flr ,toilet,& kitchen.if there was no propane you had to buy it.not good if you are going out to bbq & the tank is empty.4 wheel drive a must.driveway is bad & if it rains worse.I think that this place has potential to be better but at this price it is not worth it at all.there wasn't much avail. that weekend so we rented because we need something. My son's cabin was really nice, hot tub, updated, granite counters, fire pit & bar & gazebo w/ chairs by the water, well maintained
My fiancé and I (and our dog) stayed in this cabin for a long weekend, and we had a great experience! I was pleasantly surprised that the cabin was nicer in person than it looked in the pictures. It is very clean and well equipped- sheets, towels, utensils, cleaning supplies, first aid kits, vacuum, cable TV, grill, kayaks, firepit, etc. The location is perfect! A little secluded from the main road, but only a short drive to the downtown, the gorges, and countless wineries and breweries (which are all dog friendly). We stayed in one of the older cabins (Montour) which has beautiful views of the lake and a short walk down the steps to the water. I was worried that our clumsy Newfoundland puppy wouldn't make it down the steep stairs based on some past reviews, but he had no problem and was even able to swim in the river. It is definitely a good idea to have a 4wd SUV or truck, but our 4 runner was able to make it up without putting it in 4wd. This place feels safe and relaxing, and is a definite step up from camping while still having that outdoorsy experience. We will definitely be back and will recommend to all of our friends!
The cottage was fully stocked with everything we needed for cooking, plates, cutlery, bug spray, shampoo, etc. The view from our cottage was spectacular. Every night we watched the sunset. The finger lakes scenery and national parks were second to none. We explored several waterfalls and toured the area. For motorcycling the area I think it was the best rides we've ever done. We definitely want to go back this fall to see the trees change colour.
