Glen & Sari's lalaland. We bought our home in 1996 & moved right in. We lived ion the house for 15 years. We love living on the ocean & being part of all that nature has to offer.
We both worked on the island & Glen still does..We endured a lot of different weather conditions. Repairing the damage with each storm. But Hurricaine IAN took the interior & a lot of the exterior of our home along with many of our friends & families, homes. We were blessed to have family, volunteers, FIMA, citizens ins. co. & multiple donations.Glen is a contractor so we were lucky to remodel sooner than others. Amazing how people volunteered to help, simply amazing. God was definitely helping us all.
The island is beautiful, like the Bahamas but in the U.S. No passport required.
Community dock ( or take the private water taxi), walk (3 mins.) to the beach house. Our Paradise found,R & R at its finest. One of Florida's last undeveloped islands. Dock(#6) your boat on the bay at our stilt home sits right on the beach, down the stairs to the shaded deck, thru the gate to the beach. You can be in the water and still be watching the kids. No long walks to the beach. At night sit out on the sun balcony, light a candle & listen to the waves gently touch the seashells, music that never stops.

After getting your groceries, you will arrive at Eldred's Marina (6301 Boca Grande causeway, Placida, FL 33946. Park your car ($10.00.per day). There is an ATM at the marina.TAKE THE private Pirates water taxi across the Bay. Or rent a boat at Eldreds Marina.Load up your groceries and 'stuff' and walk/golfcart five minutes to the Gulf of Mexico, what a site!!!

If you wish to leave the island during your stay, you may book a reservation with the private water taxi, Pirates - rates vary per person, one way.

What you will not find on the island, stores, restaurants (waterfront dining by boat),crowded beaches, cars. You are likely to see a dolphin, gopher turtles, rabbits, manatee, snook, sea turtle, eagles, osprey.

Love LGI

La La Land is lovely and right on the beach. Everything we needed was there. The house is not large, but great for a couple. Everything was very clean.

Sari and Glen are amazing host. The house is perfect and stocked with everything you need. It felt like being at home. We have traveled all over the world and this was the best and most relaxing vacation.

True paradise

While I could write a book about this slice of heaven, I’ve recently broken my wrist, so am trying to keep brief If you are looking to stay in a peaceful, beautiful piece of paradise, book now. It literally had everything we needed for a pleasant stay, and the location cannot be beat! It was very clean, and trust me, I’m very picky, and look in places most wouldn’t. The kitchen was well appointed, and lacked nothing we needed for the week. Beautiful panoramic views from kitchen/ living area, and the bonus of having a views from each bedroom As for the location, no more lugging chairs, coolers, umbrellas etc, because you’re already on the beach, and can choose from upper deck, lower deck or out on sand, which makes it nice for needed trips for snacks or bathroom. Only one snag during our stay, the washer went kaput, but after contacting Sari, she assured me it would be taken care of. I thought for sure being on the island, that it would be more than a few days, but instead, they have one installed within a couple days! Very impressive! Anyway, to make a long story (kinda) short, this place is amazing, and God be willing, we will be back! Hopefully, next time, we will be able to stay longer!

Paradise on the water

Sari and Glenn’s LaLa Land is amazing. 180 degree water views from inside the house and you just can not get any closer without being wet. We had everything we needed. The island was quiet even over 4th of July. Perfect place to really get away and relax. Just, yes!

Glen (Minnesota) & Sari (Navy Brat, California & Key West. Sari's parents were good friends with Bob & Frankie Pelfrey (the original golf cart shop owners). The house on the beach was going up for auction, so we made the trip to look at it with my parents.They decided not to bid on it, so we did! Much to our surprise they accepted our offer and we had 60 days to sell our home in St.Pete, move Glen's business and give my job notice. All said and done we moved in on October 31,1996.We lived in the house for 12 years, until we built a home on the mainland and we now are at the island when it is not rented.Glen still works on the island as a contractor.

We had never been to LGI prior to this trip. We had heard many stories from my parents and the Pelfrey's.Undeveloped, old florida,fishing,swimming, boating,shelling,food never tastes as good as it does on the island, and more. We met Alice Traverse on the golf cart, drove to the house,fell in love with the view and the beach & privacy. What a high!!! We could only be so LUCKY & BLESSED TO LIVE HERE. And Lucky & BLESSED we were and still are.WE LOVE SHARING OUR HOME WITH ALL OF YOU AND HOPE IT BRINGS YOU THE SAME PEACE AND SERENITY WE FIND THERE.

THERE IS NO BETTER DAWN WHEN THE SUN COMES UP FROM OUR DECK. NO BETTER DUSK THEN WHEN THE SUN SETS INTO THE GULF. MAYBE EVEN A GREEN FLASH. ELECTRIFYING THUNDERSTORMS. BEING ONE WITH THE SEA AND SAND.THE KIDS ARE CLOSE WHILE YOUR PREPARING MEALS, JUST AT THE BOTTOM OF THE STAIRS OR LOOK OUT THE WINDOW.YOU MIGHT EVEN SEE A SEA TURTLE NESTING,MANATEES SWIMMING BY ,DOLPHINS PLAYING AND THE SNOOKS TEASING YOU RIGHT OFF THE BALCONY.AND MEMORIES, OH SO MANY MEMORIES. MAKE THEM YOUR OWN AND FALL IN LOVE WITH PARADISE.
