My husband and I just got back from here.. the best bed we have slept in ever!! so cozy.. met the owners/ and the inlaws.. such great people.. went horseback riding on the property.. so fun.. kitchen fully stocked!! just a beautiful place to get away.. never gets old seeing the beauty of Gods world.
Our stay was so awesome, it is hard to know where to start. When we first got there it was like stepping back in time. It was so peaceful and our view from all around the cabin was breath taking. All the wild life we saw going to Yellowstone away so exciting. It was really close to town for shopping and had everything you could thing of except Wal-Mart which was good. The time we were there with no TV, or Cell phone reception was great too. Gave us a chance to really connect with each other and recharge. My husband totally relaxed and distressed!!! he needed this for sure. He works in a refinery and it is dangerous. Neither one of us wanted to leave and the weather was awesome. Got surprised by that cold front the moved through that last night we were there. Woke up to a heavy frost in August. Hadn't experienced that in over 40 years!!! Truly memorable and hope to come back soon!!!! Thank you Stacy and Rob!!!
Our family had a wonderful stay at the Stermitz ranch on our son's first Yellowstone road trip. The cabin was easy enough to find, a little off the highway, and about 15 minutes from the North entrance. We spent every day heading into the park and after some long hikes, the usual bison traffic jams and wildlife diversions, the cabin provided exactly what we needed when we came home late into the evening - fantastic star gazing, an exceptionally comfy bed, and a small kitchen to prepare our meals. We took a horseback ride around the ranch on our last day, and would highly recommend any future travelers do the same - great staff, and beautiful trails.
Only two negatives (that may or may not apply to all travelers) 1) If we had stayed past 4 days the half size fridge might have become an issue - we played a lot of fridge tetris getting all of our food to fit 2) not a lot of storage for clothes and other belongings - whilst the cabin is decorated with antique schoolhouse memorabilia, there isn't a lot of room for anything else.
Overall, we had a great stay and would definitely return, the cabin provided a great base for our Yellowstone adventure.
My wife and I stayed at the schoolhouse for the first 6 days of our Yellowstone area vacation. The cabin was well maintained and exactly as advertised. It was a cozy and comfortable place to come back to each day after a fun filled day of hiking and sightseeing in Yellowstone. To us, it is an important element of our national park vacation to find a place to stay that maintains the outdoor vacation vibe, and staying on this ranch fit the bill perfectly. We cooked our own breakfast and dinner each day at the cabin. The cabin included a lunch size cooler for packing lunches for sightseeing and also bear spray to carry for hikes. We went on the 2.5 hour trail ride at the ranch, which starts right at the corral at the bottom of the hill from the cabin, and it was by far the best trail ride we have ever taken (and we have taken quite a few). I would highly recommend this cabin for a couples vacation. The ranch also features two other larger cabins for larger groups.
We stayed in the Schoolhouse for 3 nights as a beginning to our Yellowstone vacation. This cabin is so comfortable, everything you need. The views are spectacular, the ranch is peaceful and quiet, yet easy to get to. We saw wildlife, had a nice horseback ride, slept great, and fixed our own breakfast everyday with the fresh eggs. The ranch is very convenient to Gardiner and the North entrance to Yellowstone. Highly recommend!
Stella's property is wonderful! Right in the middle of the mountains! Waking up every morning was a feast for the senses. The cabin is very well decorated, well equipped and comfortable. The road to the cabin is about 7 miles on highway from the park entrance and about 4 miles of internal country road. We saw a bear during one our our rides back home on this country road :) My family had a great time here, thanks Stella!
