The property suited our needs as we didn't spend much time there except to sleep. It is a charming house near most everything, but needs a lot of TLC. The birds that are nesting in the rotted section of the porch roof kept us entertained. We tried to get the weather/news on the television, but the three remotes we found were not connected to the television in the house. There was no wifi or instructions pertaining to the house and the tourist pamphlets are outdated. In the morning we only needed a pot of coffee to keep us going, for which we brought our own coffee, but the coffee maker found in the cabinet does not work therefore we tried the Kuerig on the counter which was not very clean and leaked all over the counter. There were plenty of sheets and towels which were quite clean and beds were comfortable.
We were in Edenton for a wedding and many family members also rented in the area. Their rentals were much nicer and at the same rate or less (depressing for us!). That said it could be a very sweet space with some maintenance.
We also had no information as to departure with the exception of the time.
Edenton is a very pretty town and we loved visiting all the sites and the people. We would love to return to this lovely town, but not to this property.
Sort of like staying at your great aunts house that is the same since you were a child. Clean, charming, quaint. Plenty of towels, variety of Kuerig hot drinks, nostalgic kitchen. Don't expect granite counters or stainless steel appliances. Nice breeze, screen porch out back, and right in the historic downtown. I would recommend to friends who don't need the Hilton to have fun. Take the Trolley Tour and see the oldest house in NC, preserved homes important for who they housed, when they were built and who built them. Plenty of good places to eat, shop, and tours of light house and historic homes. People are friendly in Edenton and proud of their town on the water.
We recently enjoyed our stay in Edenton, NC. The town is charming, and we had a nice time. The house we rented served our basic needs. It was clean and was close to the shopping and restaurants. There was no information about the house upon arrivval - wifi info, whether we were to do anything in particular upon checkout, etc. Many of the lamps did not work. We could only get the tv signal to work reliably if we unplugged the wifi from the router. The kitchen had nothing beyond very, very basic items. Initially, we thought that there wasn't even any flatware because it was in a lower drawer - the top one had a few random pieces, so I thought that's all there was, given the general condition of the house. The exterior has some peeling paint, the yard and path from carport were full of unraked leaves (we were there over Thanksgiving). That didn't have a big impact on our stay - just identifying it for general description.
That said, at one point, we had misplaced the key. I called Giuliliano, and he was very responsive. He directed me to another place where he thought a spare key was. (though a recent change in locks made him fear that it wasn't actually the new key). Fortunately, we found the key before we needed the replacement. When I texted him about the wifi password, he directed me to the "welcome letter" which was not in the house. He quickly tracked down the password and got it to me. Terrock (sp?) was very friendly upon arrival and gave us our key and quick tour of the house.
Bottom line, we spent very little time in the house besides sleeping and showering. Relatives rented another nearby house, which was in much, much nicer condition and that is where we hung out. (btw, that house was only a tad more expensive than this one. Given the difference in condition, I had assumed it was probably double the price.)
We loved the following restaurants: Nothing Fancy - not right in town but across from the high school. Kristy's Italian and 309 Bistro. Also had delicious sandwiches at the coffee shop. Summerhouse gift shop had some beautiful things I bought as Christmas gifts at very reasonable prices., and the people there were very friendly.
What a wonderful property in NC's prettiest little town! Everything about this home was perfect for us. Perfect location, historic homes and sites, restaurants and churches and waterfront park were just steps away. Juliano, our host, was fantastic. Arranged for our arrival after midnight with thoughtfulness. Fresh flowers by our bedside. We will be back to this terrific cottage.
We rented this home in Edenton for a destination wedding. The house was DIRTY!! When we checked in there was foul smelling trash in the kitchen and the bathroom trashcans had also not been emptied. It made us question whether or not the beds had actually been changed. There was an accumulation of dust on the floors and the floors were also sticky! The absolute worst part... there was a dead mouse in a trap in the kitchen that appeared to have been there for some time! Overall, we were under impressed. I called and spoke with the property manager and he offered little assistance :( We would not stay here again.
A great location, very clean all amenities (except a hair dryer). Quiet neighbor, we felt very safe, short walking distance to water and historical sites. Very close to different restaurants, all were good.
We would stay here again.
